I had a very disappointing experience this afternoon in Kristi B's power vinyasa yoga class and…read morewill not be returning. About an hour into class, I took my phone out of my bag for a moment to check a text because I had mistakenly thought the class was 60 minutes instead of 75, and I needed to let my husband know the correct pickup time. Before I had a chance to explain, the instructor immediately said, "Nope, no recording allowed," grabbed the phone out of my hand, and scratched my left palm with her nails in the process. I found this completely inappropriate and unnecessary. I took my phone and bag outside to call my husband, then returned to finish class. When I came back in, the instructor told me that bags were not allowed in the room and instructed me to leave mine outside, even though other students had their bags with them. The inconsistent treatment made the situation even more upsetting. I understand and respect policies about phone use and recording during class, but they should be communicated professionally and respectfully. There was no need for the instructor to physically take my phone from my hand. The entire interaction left me feeling disrespected and deeply upset. After class, I approached Kristi to express my concern and told her there was no need to physically grab my phone. She responded that I should have read the studio rules and said she was sorry she scratched me, but that "these things happen." I do not believe the scratch would have happened if she had simply communicated her request verbally instead of taking my phone. I strongly feel the studio owner and others should be aware of this incident. The way that the instructor handled this situation was unprofessional, dismissive, and unnecessary. Because of this experience, I won't be taking this instructor's class again.

I love this barre studio! All the instructors I've tried so far (Katie Gaddini, Ren Vardi, and…read moreanother name I can't recall) are excellent--they're attentive to individual class goers and try to help each person with form or offer modifications--to make an exercise either more challenging or more accessible. The studio is clean and well-kept, yoga mats are disinfected after every use. The floors are a finished cork material that are a little easier on the joints. The front desk staff are always kind and courteous. I always feel genuinely welcome whenever I come in, which is a huge reason why I keep returning. The parking situation is free street parking on Old County Rd. Usually there's at least a spot available, but give yourself a few minutes before class in case you need to maneuver into a spot on the opposite side of the road. One unique aspect of this studio is the play lounge. For a nominal fee and advanced reservation, a childcare provider can look after your child(ren) during your class, with plenty of toys and activity materials provided. So far I have not needed to use this perk, so I can't speak to experiences there, but it's still something special I have not seen at other fitness studios. Another thing to note is that a few of the classes are livestreamed, so if recording bothers you, just check the class at the time of booking. Most of the studio goers are women in their 20s-40s. I have seen several mature attendees and Katie was great about checking on them during more challenging poses in the mindful flow classes. Everyone wears fitness attire ranging from sports bras, tank tops, t-shirts, leggings, shorts etc. During the barre classes, many go barefoot, some choose to wear grippy socks. I love the judgment-free environment here. We are all at different stages of our fitness journey, and everyone is welcome in this studio.

I tried the b3 Strength 45 with Sylvia. She was a great instructor, very clear instructions, and also just very strong haha. The Strength class at first seemed intermediate but the repetition and going up on weights definitely brought out a good sweat! I was sore for the next couple of days. This specific class was focused on arms and back but always in some sort of lunge so you were working on everything. Would definitely come back!

I arrived about 10 minutes early, thinking I would get a quick tutorial but I did not. Of course I have seen pilates in videos before, but did not know the terms or how to use the reformer properly. I just went with the flow of class and what the instructor was saying. From time to time, she did come to correct me, but otherwise who knows if I was doing the moves correctly. It was overall a good class, would have been better if I was given a quick run down but that was not the case.

I've tried so many group classes (kick boxing, cycling, group power, HIIT, yoga, etc) but never stayed with any, until now! I started with one class per week and now I make time to go three times, along with my other activities. I have tried 4 other Pilates studios in the PA/MP/RWC area and rocksalt is my favorite in terms of overall quality of the workout and value. Love the vibe. The owner, Christine, is a literal rockstar, absolute best! She's so fit and strong - inspiration to us all! Her classes are energetic, challenging yet fun! She was my first class and SOLD me! I feel so good and proud of myself after each workout. Also love Ruth and Marissa but all her instructors are awesome! Studio is clean, tidy and welcoming. Christine owns both the RWC and MP I've always been average build and a healthy weight. I was active and my goals were to tone up and build strength and rocksalt did that for me! Even my critical Asian mother approves - this is huge! Couple tips for newbies: 1. There are three types of classes (all 50 minutes): stretch, strength, sweat. They all have a combo of cardio and strength, depending on the type of class, the emphasis is where it differs. For your first one, I recommend "stretch". 2. Take it easy. Each instructor will give modifications for different levels. I also love that they are very gentle and discreet when correcting your form (that was me a lot in the beginning!) Don't be discouraged if you cannot do everything. 3. Pay attention to the instructor's direction on form/placement. Eg feet under the silver footbar, don't go past the shoulders. These make a huge difference. 4. Give it at least 3 classes. After my first class, I was super sore! I felt so challenged. But I persevered and so glad I did! (after 2 months, even my friends complimented that I was more toned) 5. Come early for your first class so the instructor can show you the basics. Pilates reformer classes are one of the best investments I've made for my health. I also truly enjoy the classes and being inspired by others (ladies much older than me in better shape and way stronger!). Hope this was helpful!

But unfortunately, the experience with their policy and customer support has been frustrating enough that I'm seriously reconsidering coming back. I've been dealing with a prolonged illness, and per their own policy, clients with symptoms are not allowed to attend class (which I fully respect). But when I reached out to explain my situation, I was only given a two-week extension -- no flexibility, no empathy, just a firm deadline. When I tried to use the remaining classes before expiration, I did not show up due to a worsening cough at the day of class-- again, trying to be responsible and follow their rules. I then received a late cancel/no show warning email, which said I'd normally be charged an extra $15 fee on top of the class I already paid for, just for being too sick to attend. Although the fee was waived this time, the tone of the message and the overall approach felt more like a punishment system than a client-centered one. The policy is confusing, rigid, and completely lacking in support for people dealing with health issues. It left me feeling discouraged and unwelcome -- not something I expect from a wellness studio.

They don't have a reception area so I was a little lost walking in but I just followed what everyone else was doing. The workout itself was fine. Compared to the classes I took in the past I didn't find the instructor to be helpful. When I got home I got an email about my bill from Pilates V which was a charge for grip socks which I did not purchase. I ended up reaching out to management for a refund. There was a couple back and forth with the emails where I had to reach out for updates. It did become a bit frustrating because I didn't talk to the instructor at all but was told that the instructor said it was me that purchased. In the end I received my refund which I was thankful for however I feel like this could have been solved in a more efficient way. I ended up not using the rest of the Groupon classes but it's a loss I would rather take than take more classes.

All climbing gyms have something of a funk, but this place is the worst. I joined to take the yoga classes mostly, but that's a hard pass. Classes start on time, but the gym allows members to show up late. When they do, they move the curtain, light up the whole room, and the noise of 100 climbers floods the room. Right in the time when you're settling in and trying to focus. Then the weight room is above the yoga room, so you get to hear weights slamming down during class, which is also disruptive. I found the classes super uneven, some being great (Bronwyn) and others being a weird combo of loud music over soft voices so you can't hear the instructor, or instructors borderline shouting at folks to expel breath as loud as possible. Not what I'm looking for. So, no problem, it's not for me. It's close to home, price is reasonable, and they have good climbing facilities. Boulder area isn't the best, but the rest of it is quite good with interesting routes changed often...enough. When I went to cancel, I was hit with a "policy" that you have to cancel on or before the 25th of a month or they will charge you for another month. I reached out on the 26th, 5 days before the next charge cycle. Seemed like plenty. Complained, go zero response. So basically I consider they robbed me of $110, because of course the cancellation policy is not visible..until you go to cancel. Hope it was worth the money, Movement. Cannot recommend.
