We had good experiences at body waves for our first massage there this past weekend. The facility is very clean and organized. The two therapists were kind and attentive to what we asked for. I do recommend it for the service but I do think it / Boston itself are overpriced for massages. Franklin was kind, respectful, super knowledgeable, communicated clearly, and enthusiastically answered questions to help me understand what was going on with my body aches better. The massage was relaxing while he worked on problem areas at the same time. I could tell his level of expertise just by the way he knowingly worked his way through the muscles. And I felt a difference right away - my posture is normally terrible but my shoulders are so much more open right now, it's amazing!! I've been a Bodywaves Therapeutic Massage client for 7 months now since moving from NYC. I've been in massage therapy for a couple of years for systemic issues, including endometriosis, gastroparesis, and various neuro-muscular weirdies. I've been working with one of their therapists, Will, for the last couple of weeks now and he's incredible. He's a very knowledgeable, communicative, and very talented practitioner. Perfection. They got me in on a same-day appointment. My 90-min massage by Lily was FANTASTIC -- I came in after 8 days of physical labor, and she got to work on sore points with great technique. I asked for more pressure at the beginning and she maintained it throughout at the perfect level. You get the tiniest bit of street noise occasionally, but the white noise they play along with music is great at masking it. And the massage is so good it doesn't really matter :) Hot tip: they're like 10 minutes from the airport. PERFECT for a stop right before or after a flight! read more

I'm a big fan of Bodywaves! I've had a membership for about a year and a half now, and work with Jesse. He's wonderful at sitting down and walking through any areas of concern at the start of every session so that it's tailored to make the most of our time. From previous reviews, I was warned about the noise coming from the farmer's market outside, but overall it doesn't really bother me. It used to be more of an issue in the past, but due to Covid they have air purifiers running in each room now which mask it with a bit of white noise. Overall great experiences at Bodywaves, and well worth the money in my opinion. read more

Franklin was amazing!!! I have been receiving massages for the last 20 years. Franklin is "hands down" the best! I was in Boston while my husband was having surgery at Mass General. I called Bodywaves to get in for a same day 90 minute massage and Franklin miraculously had an opening. When I arrived, I was feeling quite tense and had significant knots throughout my body from stress and my intense morning workout. .Franklin combined myofascial work with deep tissue massage releasing every knot and leaving in a physical and mental state of relaxation I did not believe would be possible given the stress i had been feeling. He does do an in-depth consultation before the treatment, so you will be able to discuss all the details of what you want areas need specific attention. I normally get regular work done but I've been neglectful so based on reviews I found Bodywaves and decided to take advantage of the Yelp! offer at the same time. Luckily I was able to make a last minute appointment. My therapist was Evi (not sure of the spelling) and she's very professional. We talked about my problem areas and she worked on them very thoroughly. There was a good level of communication and she really dug into my knots. I left feeling way better than I went in. I actually thought I would be more sore today but really it's just one area that I'm feeling it. His technique is uniquely effective, utilizing a variety of adaptable styles and- I am telling you- will leave a lasting impression on you. My winter shoulder shrug, laptop neck, and t-rex arms were all addressed and tamed just after one 90 minute visit. The 90 minute session is definitely worth booking with Franklin! You might first think the location is a little hidden, but it's actually pretty convenient if you are ever around the city. I love this place so much! I've been going fairly consistently since 2017 and almost without fail I've had incredible massages here! The ambiance within the space is very calming, clean, and restful and it is well-worth any trade-off you make being near to Haymarket. When I first started coming, I saw a therapist named Nick who has since moved on. He was amazing, and when he left, I was so worried that I would not find anyone else who worked out my rhomboids the way he did. But I scheduled a massage with Brian on a whim, and I'm so glad I did! Brian uses a lovely amount of deep pressure and checks in to make sure that he is providing the right level of pressure for the client. I have worked with Brian several times since our first massage, and every time I have felt so much better afterwards! On one occasion I was unable to see Brian due to needing to schedule on a different day than normal, and I had a massage with Jonathan. It was truly one of the best massages I've ever gotten and I left the place "massage drunk." Perfect (for me) amount of truly deep pressure which made my muscles melt. All of the therapists I have been to at Bodywaves have been super professional, willing to share knowledge about what might help clients moving forward, and client-directed. I also LOVE that their massages are truly 60 minutes. You can see in the schedule that they leave a 15 minute buffer time between massages which means that you get all 60 minutes of massage without feeling rushed or pressured to leave the room immediately. I so appreciate this, the difference of 10 minutes is everything when it comes to a massage! Overall highly recommend. The reason for 4 stars and not 5 is we went on a Saturday when the street market was open. The massage room was right above the market, which is very loud. Not only did we hear the vendors shouting to sell their wares, but what sounded like a dog fight broke out. So this place is brand new and the layout/ambience are wonderful. dark wood and brick and friendly staff make it super easy place to get comfortable while you wait. The individual rooms are really nicely laid out too - and there's a space where you could get a massage with a friend. I have been in sort of desperate need of therapeutic massage, due to chronic back issues and my massage addressed all kind of muscles I didn't know I had.
