Beautiful day for a drive so we took a little trip to Boehms in Issaquah. I grew up in Poulsbo and Boehms Poulsbo has been a staple for all my chocolate needs. Needless to say I was excited to go to the flagship store. First thing you notice when you come in of the amazing smell of the very best chocolate. We were promptly greeted and given a delicious sample. After poking around weade our purchase from Shanna(sorry,probably misspelled). Shanna was so sweet and easily made recommendations of things to try that the Poulsbo location doesn't carry as well as some she enjoys herself. She did an excellent job of making it known they offer tours and chocolate making classes. We will definitely try both in the future. Shanna got me signed up for their new rewards program which I will no doubt be taking full advantage of. Loved the grounds outside. We took a moment to enjoy the scenery, take some photos, and enjoy some of our treats. Wonderful little outing! I didn't go into depth about the chocolate because it truly speaks for itself. I felt like I was in little Bavaria heaven. We absolutely loved the chocolate covered nut bananas we bought, and they sold a variety of chocolates at decent prices. It was raining off and on the day we came so we almost missed out on the side of chocolate shop that has history displays and a self guided tour with special chocolate history displays. Staff gave us a few samples of chocolate and were very welcoming. I wish the chapel on site was open for visitors and that staff would have told us about the informal chocolate tour on the side of the building. According to some on Yelp, They also give regular tours too but, we did not know about this either during our visit. Otherwise, it was a fantastic place to visit with lots of history . I grew up going here - it's such a staple to the east side and the cutest spot ever. They always have samples, can make good recommendations, and have a wide assortment of different chocolates and confections. I love Boehm's candies like every other yelper and have for a very long time. There isn't much more to say about this special business that has not already been said by everyone on this platform. Their product is extraordinarily high quality and a pleasure to consume.  Boehm's has occupied the same Issaquah, WA location for decades. What does really impress me is their business model that has endured the test of time. Hard work and stability are part of their success. Customers enjoy what the skilled confestioners create, produce and sell and are willing to spend more for a quality confection. The huge variety of assortments has been their standby since the beginning. In the years before the business became so popular and they branched out to draw in more sales and revenue, mostly the family members helped run the storefront. I recall dealing with a cranky person who did not seem happy to help answer the many questions about the different chocolate choices. Maybe not the best ambiance, but I had to remind myself that in a family run business some members may be less than pleasant to deal with. That is just the nature of family businesses. Recently I was gifted a 6 oz 'Frango' box of Mocha Encores chocolates. I had to look twice to see that this gift was not Frango Mints from 30 years ago. Nostalgia allover again. Tourist fabulous but locally a secret hidden gem. This easy to access historical icon is tucked behind our other favorite local historical establishment by the Grange and Xxx (Burgermaster) and hopefully will be protected for years to come. One great thing, they offer, is the assorted chocolate boxes, I must have bought 25 of these boxes. Everyone I have given these to, they loved the u high quality chocolates. I must have eaten at least five boxes on my own, they have a deep chocolate taste. And a depth of creaminess I have not found in any other chocolates. So many sugar free options. We were next door at the Grange and I remembered Boehm's chocolate. Haven't been there in years. Love their chocolates. My son recently surprised me with a box of their chocolates . Which I consumed. Boehm's did a wonderful job. the tiny boxes came with little handles just perfect for tying a ribbon to attach a card to each box. They looked charming on the tables at the luncheon. Best of all was watching all the guests enjoying them and then trying to figure out how to ask their neighbor 'if they wanted theirs'? My family and I have been coming to Boehm's since 1988; it has almost felt like 'coming home' to visit, especially during the holidays. One of our favorites has always been the chocolate covered malt balls. Unfortunately, our last purchase was disappointing as they have shrunk in size (but the price remains high). Staff: They were moderately nice. The service was so so. Quality: Wow, the chocolate here is so good. Ambiance: Loved the way it felt like you were on a small German town. They have a tour you can take but if not you can do a self tour through the window as each window had details of the different stations of the factory. Value: Pricing was fine. Overall: I'd be back for sure. Our family lives not too far away from here so when we visit them we most definitely will return. I want to start by saying that I have no idea if the chocolate is good or not. I never got past the terrible customer service. My daughter and I stopped by after a dr appt and a stop at the grange. She was super excited to get some new chocolate. I can't have sugar and imagine how happy I was to see such a huge assortment of sugar free chocolates. There was a younger gal behind the counter and she asked if we needed any help. I said yes I'd love to ask some questions about the sugar free chocolate. She pointed at the case I was standing in front of and said all we have is there and she walked away. I was like well everyone has a bad day. I'll be patient. In the mean time my daughter had picked out a couple things to buy and she walked over to what my she called "the big coin" I assume it was a huge peanut butter cup or something similar. The same gal said please don't pick them up unless you're going to buy them. (Did I mention my daughter is 16 and not a small child. And had she actually broken something I'd have paid for it) it felt like a personal attack. There are no signs anywhere asking not to touch and all these items are individually wrapped and on display. It was at this point I started to get irritated. I told my daughter to put the stuff back and we were leaving. I can take only so much rudeness. I'd like to say I'll be back and give it another try but I likely won't. read more

Wonderful chocolate in a European setting with a wide selection! The cherry cordial, Grand Marnier truffle and Mount Rainier with cherries and caramel enrobed in milk chocolate were my faves. Cute and kitchie décor from Switzerland and Germany. They have limited tours of the (deceased) founder's living quarters upstairs above the chocolate shop. Ask for a tour, it's a trip to another era and includes his souvenirs from running and playing water polo in the 1936 Olympics as well as art collected and commissioned over a lifetime. We also learned that the chocolate shop has been here since before I-90! Go for the chocolate but be sure to soak up all the art and décor! read more

Came here on a Saturday morning with the roomie for a Yelp event and we were pleasantly surprised by the immediate charm of the building (it reminded me of an eastern-European town, and no surprise there, as Boehm is from Austria). We became all the more smitten by the curious and quirky life of Julius Boehm. (If you have about 10-15 min to spare, do the tour! So much history within the upper rooms above the store). Of course, the chocolates are also worth trying. Lots to choose from - roomie got a bag of various types and so did I. My son and I stopped in here after our XXX Root Beer lunch for a Yelp Elite activity and came away super impressed. We were greeted by friendly staff wearing the Austrian style head scarves and asked if we wanted the complimentary guided tour of the upstairs apartment/home that Julius Boehm and his family lived. We said yes and they brought a guide from the back to host the tour. What a cute apartment/house with so many hand carved wood pieces and artwork. I especially loved the kitchen area and the hand powered music box. What a treat to see this. We came back down and bought some of their delicious chocolates including Encores (similar to Frango's), Caramel Sticks, Frosty Sea Salt Caramels and a slab of fudge. All the staff were helpful and super friendly. On our way out we stopped by the window tour of the factory and got more smiles and waves from the workers. We'll definitely return in the warmer months to see the Chapel, garden, etc. and maybe do the tour again with my wife since it includes a larger box of chocolates! Unlike the others Boehm's stands out as it offers an amazing customer experience that is very memorable. The quality of the chocolate is SUPERB, and recognized instantly with the first bite. My husband really enjoys chocolate turtles, and said Boehm's makes the best turtle he's ever had. The almond bark is wonderful, I like to crack it into small bite size pieces and place in the fridge. Thanks to Blippi my little guy was curious about how chocolate is made (I love how at 3 he is always wanting to discover how all things are made,) I couldn't resist stopping by Boehm's to gift him with a Blippi Eat Along box. My daughter introduced us to this cute little German (?) chocolate shop when we visited her, and now it's a regular stop anytime we're up there! Their hand crafted chocolate candies are sooo fresh, smooth and delicious! They have all kinds of truffles, European specialties, souvenir and gift boxes, but my wife absolutely loves their bridge mix! The employees also dress the part (durndls, I think? Cute, looks like Octoberfest attire), are very friendly and do pass out samples (yum!). They also have a building on the side where they make their chocolates, and if you're lucky you can see them at work. They are a little pricey, but considering they are a small local business and the quality and excellence put into their wonderfully crafted chocolates, they are worth the price! Our new Chocolate Destination! A hidden treasure in Issaquah which Julius Boehm started in 1956. You can see the Boehm's candies lighted sign post as you go past in i-90 post exit 17. You are greeted with an old rustic cottage which acts as a storefront with Edelweiss Chalet on the first floor. The Chalet is a collection of Boehm's memories including a replica of the Olympic torch he carried, being one of the oldest persons to climb Mount Rainier, many paintings & artifacts you usually find in Italy including a replica of "The David!". The Kitchen, Living Room and other rooms are filled with wooden cabinets/woodwork which hide the music player, refrigerator from plain sight. There is also a metallic music player which still plays delightful music! The chocolate factory which is behind the cottage where you can see live chocolate making through the glass windows. Bought an assorted fruit dark chocolates and they were heavenly! The chocolates & their fruit flavor were just perfect sugar content to my delight and just melts in the mouth! Came here on a Tuesday morning with a friend. It was very quiet there, which open up the opportunity for the staff to take us on a tour of Boehm's house. He actually lived there! It was so fun to learn about his history. He really lived quiet the life. After the tour, we got to go behind the house and do the video tour of how they make the chocolate and we even go to see some of the workers actually doing some chocolate making. My friend has two little girls, so they LOVED seeing the Blippi clips. I am not a huge fan of chocolate, but theses were super good and I love how it is locally made. I got a little box with mixed chocolate and I bought my husband a little pack of whisky chocolates, which he ate up within a day. On the side of the house, there was a tent with little lights where you could enjoy your chocolate outside. They even have a chapel on the grounds with a little courtyard where you actually get married. B/c of covid they had to put a halt on weddings, but they hope to start it up soon! I am not a big fan of chocolates but Boehm Candies and Chocolates took my heart in them. I loved their chocolates , I had tried their chocolates with coconut sprinkles over them and it's just wow. When you enter in the store the smell takes you over the handmade candies with their awesome taste. What a charming place! This was one of our stops on our tour with Customized Tours, and we had such a nice time here. The shop and surrounding grounds are so beautiful, it almost makes you feel like you're in a small European town. Their chocolates are such treats! I have been to Grange, a nearby farm store, for many times, but I never noticed this cute candy/chocolate store. Thanks to Yelp Elites event, I had a wonderful opportunity to visit this store. The store is a cute Bavarian style chalet. Inside the store, it's a small shop with European style decorations. They sold many different chocolates, including dog treats. All the chocolates looked very nice. Other than being gifted a small box of chocolate from the Yelp event, I purchased some chocolates. I also found a board chocolate with Happy Birthday, which I would be giving to a friend who's having a birthday in a few days. When I told them that I was there for Yelp Elites event, they offered a free guided tour to their chalet, which I happy accepted. The girl who guided us was very friendly. She introduced the founder Julius Boehm and the history of the chocolate making at this store. It was very fascinating and interesting. We enjoyed a lot the trip. It looks like they do charge $20 for the trip normally. I think it's worth it. I would definitely come back to get some chocolates. All the candies and chocolates are locally made.
