Seating is outside only; although there are picnic tables, hopefully you're able to secure a table. Cons: Long lines. Very popular road side stop but expect to wait on a Friday night and weekends. It's conveniently located off Route 222/Adamstown Exit down Route 272. However, finding a parking spot and pulling in and out of here can be a little sketchy. We are local and this is a great spot. Today we just got a peach milkshake and a coconut cone for about $8 which is reasonable considering some places charge that much for just a milkshake. Cute place and great location, it's beautiful. We went at 4 pm and it was packed. Service was great- they were pleasant and nice. The food is just okay, we got 2 burgers and 2 cheesesteaks. The burgers were over cooked and dry, the cheesesteaks were good, but the meat a little dry, but the cheese and onions made it better. So this drive in is fun for the kiddies because it's next to a creek with ducks and you can feed the ducks and throw rocks in the water and whatnot. You order inside and they bring your box out and call your name when it's ready. There's two food lines and a separate one for ice cream only. They added a 3% convenience fee for using cards this year. Never had that before as I can remember. We've been coming here for 5 years and last year I remember the food was not as good, like they changed the brand of burger or something. They are cold and dense. The ice cream is five stars. They have a few flavors you rarely find elsewhere, including my favorite, Coconut. Others like Lemon, Pineapple, and Chocolate Almond Amaretto as well. It's all made in-house, and the half-gallons are really a half-gallon. This is the reason to go here. The food is three stars. It's good, but nothing special, and it's gotten a little pricey. It breaks my heart to give Boehringer's an average score since I have grown up eating at this drive-in, but lately it has been subpar. Boehringer's is a small drive-in and has been around for years. They offer a classic menu of burgers, fries, hotdogs, milkshakes, and ice cream with a few other options. It's located along a creek so there are picnic tables along the water for a romantic scene. There are often ducks that swim up to you too (they love the french fries fyi). Unfortunately, the food/service is not as good as the atmosphere. Their portion sizes are very small and they take an incredibly long time to prepare your order, even if no one is in line ahead of you. We often go to Boehringer's for ice cream and end up waiting 5-10 minutes for a single scoop. The wait is much longer for food. The inside is also very crammed and can get hot in the summers. Overall, I'd recommend Boehringer's for the true drive-in feel and river scene. I probably wouldn't make a special trip though for the food. read more

This place is like a hidden gem! On the way home from Lancaster and happened to find this place that was open on a Sunday for a bite to eat. We got 2 California burgers, fry, and large drink for $12. Super reasonable prices and the food was amazing. The buns were so soft and the fries were perfectly crispy. I can't say enough about how good it was! Area institution with outstanding ice cream and good drive-in fair including california cheesburgers, hot dogs, fries, etc. I'm a big fan of the coconut and strawberry ice cream, but you cant really make a bad choice here. They also have a selection of sundaes, milkshakes and floats, and you can get their ice cream in half pints to take home. Just great food and ice cream, the perfect setting for a weekend lunch with family during the summer. This place does get pretty packed around lunch time and dinner hours, so plan accordingly. As of this writing, they've designated one side of the building for food ordering, and the other for ice cream. They've handled Covid precautions extremely well, and put the health of their customers and staff first. They've also added POS terminals, so they now take cards as well as cash. One additional tip: Boehringer's is on a well-traveled and fairly busy road, and the parking lot area is narrow and often full, so use caution entering and exiting the parking lot. read more
