We stumbled upon him when we were first started looking for a house without any real expectations of purchasing anytime soon. Having previously purchased a house, but not having sold one he took time to come visit our house and walk us through the processes of buying and selling simultaneously. Once we had our hearts set on a place, previously listed but taken off market, Chris worked diligently to get us in to see it multiple times, while dealing with all of our questions and concerns. He simultaneously juggled less than stellar sellers and sellers agent. Chris' transparency and communication skills were fabulous and we truly appreciated them during the buying and selling processes. In addition to helping us buy our new home, Chris listed our old home at the perfect price and we were ecstatic to read all of the offers (over asking) that were beyond competitive in the market. Chris went above and beyond by accompanying us to the closing, when the sellers and their attorney/agents caused more havoc, and gave us a very thoughtful closing present that we'll treasure for years to come. And if that wasn't enough - three months later Chris randomly showed up to check and see how we were doing and had some mail from our former address which he successfully rented out for the new owners. Well it was a series of events that got my hopes up only to lead to disappointment soured my experience. Also they don't really have much inventory. I will say that this company has the lowest "fee" for the place we were looking out of any of the other agencies. It was just a straight forward credit report from Experian that you could keep and use for future applications $15/person. (However, we all know all the other agencies won't trust you. They want you to fritter your money to pay a fee for their arbitrary credit report.) Then the usual stuff like pay stubs, W2 and references from previous landlord. I found a listing (too late) on Zillow for an ideal location with reasonable price, and she still agreed to show it to us which was nice since the property owners were still vetting candidates. She also tried to push this other undesirable (and overpriced) apartment that had been on the market for months in lieu of the current one. I can't help but feel like she just wanted to show more qualified candidates for consideration to boost her and the agency's reputation - when all along they were going to pick the first applicant anyway (to avoid potential accusations of discrimination). She even set up a meeting with the Property Managers for a small interview at their office location after hours. Regrettably she informed us that they chose the other applicant since they were equally qualified. I thought that the "dream place" slipped through our fingers. We asked her to keep us in mind for other rental units with similar stats, but we never heard from her again. Thankfully we got in touch with another realty group and found something else around the same price point. The absolute best part was that not even a month after we moved in we received an e-mail from Michelle and she said the same property was now available again for rental at the start of the following month! We let her know we found something else, but we were curious what happened. Of course I understand that she doesn't want to reveal what happened, but it's truly funny how things work out sometimes. Think RES is a professional company overall and I didn't get the scummy vibe from them (like CRG) so they could very well work for you. I recommend continuing to look as well on your own if you're a renter as I mentioned earlier there's not a huge inventory of places.

This is an update to my review on June 10, 2014…read more Since Merrimack Mortgage did not make my Property Insurance Payments last year (2014) I thought I would try being proactive this year (2015) and make a duplicate payment directly to the insurance company. Even though this would result in an extra ~$2,000 out of my pocket for a short period I figured it was the safest way to protect my home. I did not have confidence that Merrimack would make the payment on time again this year. Unfortunately, Merrimack Mortgage outsmarted me again. They never made the property insurance payment (just like 2014) and refused to accept evidence that I paid the policy in full. To add insult to injury they billed me $2,055 to purchase separate insurance coverage. To summarize, I am being charged for property insurance 3 times - I pay into an escrow each month during the year for taxes and insurance, Merrimack Mortgage keeps this money and doesn't pay the insurance bill, I am forced to pay for the insurance out of my picket to ensure coverage, and then they bill me $2,055 for a second duplicate insurance policy. If Merrimack put as much effort into building their business as they do into screwing their customers they would be a Fortune 500 Company. It is frustrating when you can not choose who services your mortgage if you have a choice I would think twice about Merrimack Mortgage.
