Tom Hitchman with Boggs Inspection Services was exemplary and extremely thorough. My previous home inspection experience in 2005 for an Onalaska, WA property/home I was buying, turned out to be horrible. The previous owner thought he was some sort of handyman, but he botched so many things I couldn't even list them all here. The inspector didn't mention/find any of them, and they were OBVIOUS defects and many code violations. I've lived at that property for 9 years now and have spent those 9 years repairing and abating all the things the previous owner messed up and things the inspector did not note on the report. My experience with Tom and Boggs Inspection couldn't have been more opposite. Tom was very thorough, personable, professional and knowledgeable. He was punctual and spent enough time to check everything. He crawled around under the house, got dirty, up on the roof and on his knees looking at all the details. If it hadn't been for his thorouhgness, I would never have known about the bathroom drain leaks that could only be seen from under the house and two toilet wax sealing rings that need to be replaced. The things he noted are not deal breakers, but it gave me negotiating abilities with the selling price. The report was also excellent, with all the photos of the various issues taken clearly. If I ever move again, it will be locally and I will definitely use Boggs Inspection, and will also recommend them to anyone I know that is looking at a home. My husband and I were in a time crunch to find a home inspector for our new home. I decided to look on yelp to see the reviews on local companies and I found Boggs. I was a little leery going off of just 2 reviews but I decided to give them a call to see if they would even go out to the area where our home would be. Heather was able to answer my questions about what all is in the inspection and they put me in for an inspection right away! There was a small snag in the scheduling with by real estate agent and the selling agent and Heather called me several time to make sure that I was able to clear things up, if not then she could "Make" time on a specific date to get us in, even though they were really busy. Jon Molby, our inspector was everything we could've hoped for, he arrived early and got started. We had some issues with an inspection done by Mr. Boggs' team. The crawlspace was not inspected based on the inspector not being able to find access. Time went and we had the vents cleaned, but the tech cleaning the vents found the access right away. I called Mr. Boggs and he went out to the house and saw that it was something that should have been seen by his inspector. I received a quote from a company to find out how much it would cost to fix the discrepancies and sent that to Mr. Boggs. He had working relationships with some other contractors that do crawl space work and had them come in an fix all the issues...without me paying for it. I was not pleased with the fact that something was missed, but I am very impressed and appreciative to Mr. Boggs for standing by his company's reputation and making things right. Sometimes things happen...its good to know that there are professionals still out there that take care of the customer. read more

George inspected the property that we are looking to purchase, we were out of the country so my father and father in law (both ex contractors) went in our place. Both my father and father in law commented on how thorough he was and how impressed they were with him, he answered all questions and addressed all the findings we were concerned about. We received his report less than 24 hours later and it was extremely detailed with color pictures with diagrams showing what he was describing. When I started looking for a home inspector I began my search at the Better Business Bureau and finished my research using bids and online reviews. I was warned by family and friends to be careful about who I pick since the majority of them had bad experiences. Placed an offer on an house and my realtor gave me their information. I called on a Sunday and really expected an answering service or machine. The call was answered and I was able to schedule an appointment for the following Tuesday. The lady explained what to expect and how I could pay for it. Follow up emails arrived as scheduled. Inspector was early at the property and even though it was raining during the whole thing, he spent the time that was needed to do a complete inspection of the outside, to include the crawlspace. It took almost 4 hours total. I followed him around and asked questions and he easily answered them and wasn't upset that I was shadowing him. From the first phone call, they were quick to respond and schedule us the next day! We are refinancing with the VA and needed a termite inspection. They were very through and helpful and such a quick turn around on the paperwork! Our inspector was on time, wore a mask and even offered to wear shoe covers in my home (not necessary as I have many animals and told him he couldn't cause any more dirt than the dogs). He was very respectful. If anything could be said to make a better experience, maybe just let someone know what they will be looking at when they come so we can prepare a little. I am kinda a pack rat and my under sinks are full of stuff (which i'm clearing out now) and would have been happy to clear out for him to look had I known he would be looking there. great service overall. Every cent we paid to have this inspection done was worth it all. We were looking at a cabin to buy -- it appeared to have everything we wanted with a Puget Sound view. What we did not know was how many issues there were in the home. The issues were numerous and hidden, which would have costs us $1000's. The report we were given was extensive (59 pages) on a 480 sg ft house. It was easy to read and very thorough. Not one inch of the house was missed and all unseen issues (standing water under the house) was revealed. If there were more stars to give I would. Our inspector, George, was exceptionally professional, patient and explained all issues in easy to understand language. Bill with Boggs was great! Not only did he walk my husband and I through everything, he also arrived early and was ready to rock n' roll. As first time home buyers, purchasing an older home, we new a good, thorough inspection was needed. Boggs did just that! I balked at the on-line form after getting 90% of it filled out (I'm over the need set up an account and create a profile for absolutely everything these days), but Dwayne called me back anyway and was able to fit our inspection in next day (Labor Day!).
