We came here on a Saturday night a little after they opened and the restaurant was already half full. The place was packed shortly after. We chose the sirloin for two. I got fried potatoes with Texas toast. This includes a trip to the salad bar. The salad bar was just OK for me. Iceberg lettuce and some salads like pasta, potato, and coleslaw. The steak was amazing. Besides being huge it had an amazing charcoal grill flavor. So juicy and full of flavor, just awesome. This is a wonderful gem here in Albia. People drive from a good distance just to eat here. The hours are limited on this restaurant, but it seems as if they always pretty full. This is for a true midwestern steak burger and, if that's your jive, then you must try Bogie's Steak House in Albia. $11.75 for a MASSIVE steak burger resting between two tried and true thick sliced Texas toast, topped with Swiss and American cheese, pickle and white onion slices. No ketchup, mustard or mayo served with the meals here, nor is it needed; their "house seasoning" is the cat's meow. Includes a baked potato, butter, sour cream, and 1 trip to the salad bar. Don't even think about subbing your baked potato for onion rings or french fries because a baked potato is your only option. Salad bar was meh, but they don't specialize in a salad bar so no harm, no foul. Thought it was 1000 dressing but nope...more like Dorothy Lynch or some other dressing of similar coloring. My friend and I each ordered the ribeye and it was one of the chewier and tough steaks I have ever had. There was zero seasoning on it and it was flavorless. I was embarrassed to have a close friend with me from out of town and I bragged how good this place was and to have a meal like this was utterly dissatisfied. Amazing place! Open Wed - Thurs 5pm - close(basically until they run out of steak which is around 9ish. Salad Bar is great, everything you could want plus cottage cheese and macaroni salad. They keep it simple and small, straight to the point. Average good service. Prompt, great jokes and smiles all around. They know how to keep it casual and feeling at home. Usually a very busy place, especially Saturday. So expect service to do everything they can do while it's packed. They raise the beef, feed them and butcher them. No middle man, keeping value at a premium. Definitely the best steaks in the country at this price. Mouth watering, melt in your mouth meats. Cooked with perfection and love. We went on a Wednesday night and it wasn't that busy but I heard during the weekends it's packed so plan accordingly. The menu is steak and steak. Your meal includes a potato, bread and one trip to the salad bar. Every meal is twenty bucks or more. They do have a few other things besides steak but you'll want to order the steak or the prime rib. The grill is opened and in the dining room basically so you can watch them cook your meal. Also it's their beef. They raise their own cattle, feed them and butcher them. I got the prime rib only prepared medium rare and it was good. My husband got the ribeye and ate all of it so it was good too. Small town mom and pop shop with the world record buck on the wall. It was very good but next time I'll get the ribeye because it looked amazing. 60 bucks for our meal for two. Also their take on how you order a steak is correct and it's on the menu. Bad experience today. Food was great, service not so much. They were busy but had open tables. Asked how many, told them six. We arrive before my daughter and her family. Instead of seating us she had us wait until they arrived. I have never experienced this anyplace I have eaten and I am in my fifty's. Another party of eight came behind us. They pulled tables together and seat them. We told the other would be coming in Approx 10 min upon our arrival. So we were left standing at the door obstructing the customers trying to pay. ???????. Then they ended up pulling tables together just like the group of eight people that arrive behind us. Then after taking our seats we waited for 15 min before a waiter even acknowledged us. When our waitress finally came over asked us "do you know what you want" I don't know about you but all sit down restaurants that I go to ask you for your drink order first. Then while they are getting your drinks it gives you time to look at the menu and decided what you want. Then when they bring your drinks ask what your food order is. I would like to say this happened but it didn't. After our drinks were brought out I asked for straws. Our waitresses gave us three. Again we had six people. read more

Drove about an hour to give this small town steakhouse a try. Was very surprised to see it packed on a Wednesday night around 7. Despite the full house, the wait staff was exceptional. The menu is small, but mighty. We chose the filet and the steak burger. The steak was cooked perfectly and didn't need a drop of steak sauce, as it should be! Steak burger was good but definitely outshined by the filet. Salad bar was basic as well, but all toppings were fresh and the bar itself was very clean. I would not recommend this place to anyone. First and last time here! Waitress was extremely unfriendly and never came to check on us. Chicken was horrible, no flavor and a mushy texture. Salad bar is a total joke for a meal of this price. Unfortunately we were unable to let anyone know about how awful it was because us throughout the entire meal. When paying at the checkout the cashier said thanks for dining with us and never even asked about our meal or dining experience.
