Had a long day driving from Panama City Breach on our way to Houston. Traffic jam because of an accident had us parked on W I-10 for 2-3 hours. We pivoted and stayed in Beaumont right across the street from this intriguing establishment. We had to try it. Pappadeaux did not disappoint. Restaurant is beautiful inside - dark woods and brass. Stunning. Started our meals with garlic bread, a cup of shrimp gumbo and a side salad. The gumbo was superb, could have eaten a pail of it. Very flavorful and loaded with protein. Wifey had blackened Salmon with broccolini. Salmon was cooked perfectly and portion size was generous. The veg serving could have feed 4. I went with the 10 ounce filet topped with crab and a creamy sauce. Dish came with spinach and a baked potato. Spinach portion was huge and potato was the size of a football. Steak came to the table medium just as ordered. Both entries were delicious. Our portions were so large we took leftovers home for lunch the next day. Warning ... go hungry. Order smart. Been a Pappas diner since this 90s and I unfortunately had some issues on a recent visit to the Beaumont location. Not overly detrimental hence the 3 star notation. We arrive after driving east from west of Austin, Texas. Server wasn't quick but arrived in a timely manner. Drinks delivered and food ordered. Oysters Pappadeaux; see the pic of the burnt stems most likely from the spinach. Good dish but flawed by the unfortunate crunch and flavor. Corporate peeps this is more a gripe overall. The change in the garlic bread; not for the good. I get it citing perhaps a more dramatic presentation. Thick slices versus a loaf tucked inside the cloth like the bread offering. Thing is, it gets cold QUICKER. We're only talking about a five to ten minute period but the previous way was smarter. Doesn't pair well with the Fondeaux as much as it used to due to the size. Moving onto the GFs dishes. Her Calamari dish was more oily than the last 10 Pappadeauxs we've visited. She also ordered a house salad with creamy vinaigrette that never made it to the table. This was the server obviously because if it was ordered it would have been delivered. Wasn't on the bill either so a forgotten dish for our visit. I'm extremely disappointed. I drove 2 hours home after ordering two house salads, and somehow the ONE thing that makes the salad--ranch dressing--was completely missing. Not one, but both were left out. This wasn't a complicated order. How do you forget the dressing when that's literally the main part of a salad? Went for lunch today. Our meal was delicious! We enjoyed the Red snapper with crabmeat. I wish they would have put more crabmeat on top of the fish. My salad was good but if u don't like plenty of dressing ask for it on the side. We love the hot bread and butter that they give you. Just ask for the hot bread. Our server was great! This is one of my favorite locations. We also stop here while our Tesla charges. The service, drinks and food are always on point. I tried Mardi gras pasta for the first time. It was really good but it does have some spice in it. We also had the redfish with some white sauce. It was soooo yummy!!! The red beans and rice are good. The bread was not warm and soft as served at other locations, and we did have to ask for butter, which normally is soft and easily dippable with the bread, this bread was hard and room temp, a bit cold once we tore into it, and the butter was cold and hard, like it just came out of the frig from over night. The cup of gumbo was great, full of shrimp and loads of crab, which my best friend loves. Did I mention that she LOVED the plentiful amount of crab that was in the gumbo. we did have to ask for tabasco, from a waitress that was not our waiter. My best friend had the Seafood Salad, and she was overjoyed as how great it turned out. She did mention that the presentation and some ingredients were different than other locations, however, was still just as great and she very much enjoyed it. I've been to this Pappadeaux's several times, but this review is for the first private event hosted at this location. We have my mother her 80th birthday dinner here, so this review will be related to this event, from intake to dinner service. You request a private dining event for over 10 guests via an intake form on the Pappadeaux website. This part went very well and I was contacted within the specified time frame to make selections and sign the contract. You have until 3 days before the event to confirm the guest total, and after this time, the number cannot be changed. I did have to call the restaurant two days prior to make sure they had the correct number, as my final confirmation email was not confirmed, and the number they had was incorrect. I was told it would be corrected in the system, but received a call from the restaurant the following day to again confirm, and was able to get them the correct information. The day of the event you have approximately 30 minutes prior to set up. If you have any decorations, this may be very difficult to accomplish, but we managed to get things together before the guests began to arrive. We also requested a cake table that was provided quickly. The staff assigned to our event were very attentive and organized. They really helped with keeping us on schedule. The food was a bit cold and the steaks were over cooked, but that was not the servers fault. I know large events with multiple dishes can be hard to pull off, and that was likely a kitchen management error. This is the only reason for the deduction of one star. Without this issue, it would be a full five stars. You do have to pay your final bill on one card, which was communicated from the beginning, so keep this in mind. I would definitely hold another event at this location, and if you're looking for a space that can accommodate 25+ guests, definitely give them a try. read more

The fish was absolutely amazing. FRESH!!! They get it there within 1-3 days. I had the rainbow trout ( naked- with no shrimp topping) with lemon butter sauce and fresh carrots. Huge portion. Moist ! I'm from Boston - so a seafood snob- this was the best fish I have had in years outside of Boston. Lori did a superb job as our waitress. She was personable and engaging and got the food out quickly since we were in a rush, I would go there all the time if I lived nearby! Prices reasonable. I went there for HH. I had the HH shrimp fondue. It came out so hot and delicious. I then got the shrimp gumbo and house salad. I took the gumbo home but the house salad was great as usual. I add chopped eggs and the creamy vinaigrette. That salad may be a side salad but it is a whole meal. And of course I had a couple of Pappadocious. My night was made. This was from our birthdays. They are 16 days apart, so we decided to go to Pappadeauxs for our celebration. Our waitress was Hunter and she was great. Table stayed clean of unwanted dishes. Food came out hot and delicious. Restaurant was very clean. I don't think I have ever seen it any other way. We started with my favorite. The fondue. . That cheesy seafood omg deliciousness. And that garlic toast. Since they did not have crab fingers. We always ask since it's an off the menu item, we opted for the crab and spinach dip. It was equally delicious. Now for our entrées. Hubby got the blackened Opelousas with Mahi instead of catfish. Here's what he does. He gets the Opelousas, a side of crawfish etouffee with dirty rice, an extra side of just the crawfish etouffee. An extra side of Opelousas sauce with all the proteins in it. (oysters, shrimp and crab) And a large blank plate. He builds. All the dirty rice, then all the etouffee. Then the topping of the Mahi topped with all the Opelousas sauce. It's a 4 day meal easy lol I opted for the regular catfish Opelousas with an extra catfish filet. I did not get a pic before I dug in lol. But my pic is what's left. Could only finish about 3/4ths of the fish lol. To add the extra filet she had to add a side to it. No worries, red beans and rice no pic, subbed dirty rice for the white. We both got a free dessert for our birthdays since they are literally 16 days apart. The ambience is on point and the food,definitely delicious. We broke with our "eat and shop local" code and visited this chain for an early anniversary supper while visiting Beaumont. I was definitely hankering for good Cajun, but after a day of driving and a late lunch, we skipped the appetizers and went straight for the main. I enjoyed the handcrafted cocktails with generous spirits and ordered the sizzling salmon with the grilled octopus -- sweet and generous salmon portion sizes and ---the beurre blanc was divine!!! We ate dinner here on 5/19, Monday evening. The greeting was awesome on what I thought was going to be an awesome night. The server was awesome casual talk and had the server laughing and love to come back and help us, Bryan was amazing and took it with stride for the rest of the night. None of this was his fault by any means and we loved having him as a server and look forward to having him as a server but who knows when. First issue came when the floor manager came and said they had ran out of the fillet minion and all beef. Wait a sec, they ran out of beef on a Monday. One issue I don't eat fish, and always look forward to the steaks, so I ordered bacon wrapped shrimp. Well here goes almost a half hour knowing that the rest of the family's food is done sitting under warmers. The waiter brought them out and said that my shrimp would be just a couple min. When I finally got my food the family was finishing up food and I'm just getting mine. So they got to watch me eat for a few till I found shells still on my shrimp. By this time I was done with complaining so I said f it and I was done and requested Rachel the floor manager or whatever she was. She made sure we knew her name as she tried to fix this fiasco, she said that she would take care of half the bill and our meal would be comped. Cool I was planning on paying no mater what. She said she was also going to give us a gift card saying our next visit was on the house didn't say how much or anything. Cool whatever. When she came back she's like hers a $50 gift card. The steak I order is 49. Few things that pisses me off that would have ended up in a better experience for all of us. Why are they running out of steaks on a Monday? Why did the kitchen not tell the floor manager that steaks were running low? why did the waiter not know they where running low on steaks? Why did the floor manager just rub salt in the wound I by blaming the back at the same time saying we work as a team and she should have known? Why did my order not get put on fast track so it would have come out at least close to the family's? Why did floor manager not get the restaurant manager and fix this? I have more but this will do for now. But Rachel wanted us know her name like she was doing us a huge favor. Let's start with the entre experience from door in to door out, it was a large party of 9, so I believe maybe the waitress was fairly new, she kept coming late with refills, wrong refills, all was ignored, and we try to make it the best of our family and friends. Let's talk food , I frequent Papas restaurants quite a bit, so I do expect the quality to be consistent no matter what city we go to. I order the aged ribeye with lobster tail, medium rare, one of our friends order the same but well done. They gave us the wrong plates, the waitress picks them up and exchanged after getting it wrong, but we did have to point it out to her, but not well seasoned, the medium rare was red red , the well done dry as expected. The lobster tails were big, but also not seasoned, no flavor. Aligator bite's excellent Bread was good Cheese blocks awesome Mushrooms excellent The grilled oysters were a hit Mardi Gras's for my daughter was also perfect The rest of the meals were good, in my people's opinion, two order flounder that was good they mentioned The alcoholic beverages according to my wife and her family excellent! Bad service for 9 people spending over $100 a person easy, we expected better, but being a small town, maybe I would advice make it to Houston area, and you will have the best of the best. Edited: wrote this review yesterday and came to eat here today, everything consistently delicious, and wait staff was weird lol The food at Pappadeauxs is almost always consistently good. We order the fried shrimp every time to take home and their cocktail sauce is just delightful. The new crawfish fondue is really good as well and it's always wonderful to take some of their bread and butter home. Overall it's a good experience, sometimes the servers can be a little young and awkward but it's generally a good time dining there. Definitely family friendly and the outdoor ambiance is absolutely beautiful as well as the dining area. read more

It's been a while since I've posted a review, but I had the pleasure of dining here and man what a treat! I started off with a tasty drink made with Raspberry liquors with layered frozen daiquiri and margarita topped with a pineapple slice called Swamp Thing. Very good! For the appetizer we had the Shrimp and Crawfish Fondeaux. Most amazing!!! I thought I was going to melt in chair. It was so delicious I'll never go to this restaurant and Not get this. Definitely recommend! For dinner we had the Wild Caught Grouper and Jumbo Crab with shrimp and spinach. Also delicious. But wasn't too keen on the spinach. In my opinion it had too much garlic, so it was just okay. But everything else was oh so delicious! Another definite recommendation! Also the Wild caught Tile fish with jumbo lump crab and shrimp. Another yummy visit!! I tried the Greek salad this time and oh my it was delicious. For a salad, this is the best it can get. It comes table side so they assemble the salad right by you. The dressing is really light weight but holds the flavor well. The only thing I didn't enjoyed was the celery but that was my fault for not realizing that it was listed on the menu. I ordered DoorDash delivery. The person I talked to about my order over the phone was nice, and the DD driver was nice, but the food was disappointing. I ordered the snapper with the herb butter and spinach. There were two shrimp tails in my container no shrimp meat attached just the tail ends. And then as I went through eating my meal, put it on a plate put it in the microwave I found plastic throughout eating the manchego potatoes and in my fish! Decided to go to Pappadeaux's in Beaumont Texas on the weekend for dinner and was highly disappointed. We decided to get the Calamari for our appetizer and I was not happy. That was a mistake. We had a plate full of tentacles and they weren't even fried enough. They were all kinda mushy when you put them in your mouth. Then we placed our order for the Pappa Platter with a side of dirty rice. Our server was nice enough to separate the food on two plates for us. My stuffed shrimp was not deveined which I noticed once I had eaten all the stuffing off of it. WTH just gross. The shrimp and fish were okay just okay and the dirty rice was very bland. A week ago, my brother and our two best friends had lunch. The food was good. My brother paid the Tab with cash, inclusive of a tip. The waiter brought the bill and cash back and asked him did he make a mistake on the tip. He pointed out the min us 18%. He also questioned if his service was not good or was there a problem. My brother told him no. The waiter walked away. That was embarrassing My brother called him back to the table and gave him more money and commented to the waiter apparently you were not satisfied with the tip. He took it and walked away, not a word of thanks. As we were leaving, I spoke to the manager about the incident. We are very reluctant to eat there. I eat out a lot, this is a first. It is going to take a long time to get passed this and I am informing all my friends to be aware if you don't tip enough, your waiter may ask you why in front of your guest. read more
