I love the food Boiling Point has and usually go into a Boiling Point knowing that even if the service is bad, at least the food is good. Unfortunately, my recent visit here the food was bad and the service was even worse. One of my favorite things about this location is that there is usually almost no to very little wait. When we were seated, only about half the restaurant was full. My usual order is the beef medium pot and the garlic pork belly which I split with another person. Unfortunately, during my last visit, we were sat and forgotten about for 20 minutes. No water, no one to come up and ask if we've ordered, no anything while other parties after us got their order taken and their food brought out. Eventually they came and took our order, but when our soup came out, it was the blandest soup I've ever seen. Our appetizer also was forgotten and didn't come out until the very end of our meal. We waited another 20 minutes to grab the check. Overall, we probably won't go to this location anymore and instead will go to the Artesia location. read more

I also find that this location is also very consistent when it comes to the food. My go-to is the beef hot pot (medium spicy) with rice. My fiancé on the other hand usually switches between the beef and lamb. I love that each hot pot has a variety of items and that the soup is also flavorful and delicious. I ordered the lamb pot and got half of the BOGO winter melon juice. I want to emphasize that it's juice because at first I was caught off guard with the non-tea flavor! It was also my first time having winter melon (besides the traditional soup) so that was interesting. The others got the beef pot, miso and thai tomato respectively. The birthday boy can handle his spice and complimented the level of spiciness (medium). Finished the meal with a complimentary lemon jelly, typically I'm not a fan of artificial lemon flavored things but this one reminded me of the taste of Brisk ice tea. Came here on a friday evening for a birthday dinner, I was the last one to arrive but the party of 6 was already seated by the time I arrived. I was genuinely surprised since the last time I visited (years ago at the MPK location) it was packed and we had quite a wait. Service was quick overall. We came during sunday evening and luckily it wasn't too busy so we got seated right away. We had to flag the servers to order and the food came out quickly. I got the Thai flavor and it came without any octopus and the meat filled calamari ring that was on the pictures. It seemed like they didn't add anymore other toppings to compensate for it which is disappointing. I asked for a water refill and one of the servers said give me a minute. I was fine with that until I see him visible in the back room where he was just playing on his phone. He wasn't on his break or anything and he had some other server serve us water. The server who was playing on his phone had glasses and I think his name is Wen? He should definitely get retrained. My 1st time here and at this franchise. I really enjoyed it and love places that offer individual pots. We ordered beef, house special, and Taiwanese. My son and husband who are usually not a fan said they really liked the flavoring here compared to Tasty Pot. I love all the toppings included in every pot. I also love how they have a reward system and their packaged sauces are so convenient and perfectly the right amount. The only downfall I would say is that we can't control the temperature of our pots or turn it off ourselves like Tasty Pot. read more

This location was my first boiling point. Place pretty compact but have lots of seats. They do get busy so you may have to wait. But they serve food so fast. We usually come here for lunch as it's cheaper and they give free iced tea. Deal nobody can beat. Everybody loves the beef and I've tried everything on the menu (b/c their menu is pretty small) and so far everything is tasty. Except for #1 b/c can't deal with stinky tofu. But if you like stinky tofu, you can order extra on the side. Any items you order on the side is for the hotpot. So they may come cold b/c they expect you to throw them into the boiling water. If your water/soup run low, you can ask them to top it off. Don't forget to dip with the chili bean. That one is the best. read more

One of my go to locations - Boiling point is always consistent in their pot but i would say their spice level isn't. Sometimes i can handle the medium and other times I can't. So now i just stick with the mild. The menu offering is the same at all locations and my go to is always either the house special one or their beef one. Every once a while i may go for the of their other pots but these have always been my go to. I would say it's nothing special but one of the better options for individual hot pots. The food is good but its not mind blowing amazing. But lets be real, what really pushes boiling point above others is their sauce! Their dipping sauce is SOOO good. So good they charge you EXTRA if you want more than the TEENYYY TINYYYY portion they give you and they sell them by the bottle. I love that each person gets their own and honestly the portion can be big where it CAN be shared between two people if they wanted to. I would say its hard to come to this location with a large group, smaller groups are better. Now with COVID, table seatings are usually 4 max, otherwise you have to split to different table. You can ask for broth refills and to ask them to turn on/off the fire on your pot any time. The service is just okay. It's not the greatest at times but it can be worse at other times. Sometimes it takes awhile for their food to come out even though it's all prepared already and they put it into the pot. This was our go-to Taiwanese Stinky Tofu hot pot restaurant before they turn to take outs again during the Pandemic which made us making our own hot pots at home. I liked how they added honey green tea or black tea upon an order per person: but what I noticed was their ingredients kept diminishing throughout the months of our dine in experiences here as stated down below our pics. (mild, rice, black tea) iykyk :D I've been coming here since high school so for at least 10 years! and I love that they've been opening more and more stores throughout SoCal, just wish they would also open one in San Diego. I've tried most of their soups but the one I always want most is their beef. You can never go wrong with beef! Everything comes fully cooked and the fire keeps the broth hot! If you need more broth like I always do, you can ask for more (pre-covid, not sure about current state). *COVID UPDATE* There's just something about Boiling Point that makes me come back even though I don't think their quality is all that great. It's probably because the convenience. It's so easy to call in, and they have the entire meal ready - including sauces wrapped in cute plastic baggies and individual utensils in extra long red envelopes. They bag everything so nicely that I've never had an issue with spills and messes. When I order, it's usually for a large group because it's so convenient to have individual orders packed and ready to go. They put the rice/vermicelli with the soup of that order, as opposed to putting all soups together and all rice/vermicellis together. Love the efficiency! I think the food quality here is closer to a 3 out of 5 rating because the hot pot is nothing special. But they put so much effort into keeping themselves and customers safe. Rick, especially, provided excellent service - and not just once. When you encounter the same server more than once, you know they're working too much, or maybe you're just visiting too frequently! I started to order "not spicy" recently because the mild is still really spicy for me. It made me question if my spicy tolerance went down! read more

I am currently dying as I'm writing this review. My mouth is on fire. I ordered a MILD Beef Hot Soup with Vermicelli Noodles with a side of Spicy Fermented Tofu. They either messed up my order or their mild really is this spicy. I ordered off of Doordash so I can't really send my food back without going out of my way to do so. My nose is running like a faucet from how spicy it is, and I'm no wimp when it comes to spiciness. I've already added a pint of water to my broth and I'm still suffering. I was actually debating between getting the medium spice or the mild spice, and while I'm glad that I went with the mild, I really should have just gotten no spice, since there's already a chili spice sauce on the side. I really can't say much about the food itself since all I can really taste is just hurtful spice. I wish that they had non-spicy fermented tofu since my mouth is already burning from the bowl. I tried looking for the option but all they had was the spicy fermented tofu. Otherwise, it does have the stinky tofu taste that I love, but keep in mind that it's more of a steamed tofu instead of the fried stinky tofu that I love even more. As for the order itself it came to my door very quickly. The utensils are all packaged together so you get chopsticks, a soup spoon, and a napkin all in the packet. All 3 sauces are packaged together as well which is convenient. There's about a tablespoon of each sauce in each packet, so if you want more than that, you will have to add additional for an extra fee. I didn't touch the chili oil but the garlic soy sauce and garlic bean pastes were great. I would definitely add an extra garlic bean paste to my order though. read more

PRO-TIP: Order for lunch and you get a complimentary tea! It's been years since I've gone to Boiling Point after a mediocre, expensive experience at the RH location. Since it was a super cold and rainy day, hot pot sounded like a great idea. And it was ! We ordered take out by phone and it took around 20 minutes for our order to be ready. I got the Korean Bean Paste Very Spicy with a side of fried tofu skin. Even at "very spicy" it only had a slight heat to it. A Shin Ramyun serving is much more spicier than this, so next time I might get flaming spicy. I liked that my order came with noodles in it in addition to the side of rice. Definitely enough carbs. Although they list everything that comes in each hot pot, it felt like a grab bag to me. I didn't know what I was going to get each time I scooped up some soup. Lots of variety for sure, even though it might have just been one piece of each. It did come with a decent helping of meat, so no qualms there. What stood out the most was the branding and packaging of the to go items. I liked that the chopsticks, napkin, spoon, and toothpick were all packed together in a nice cover and it's always neat to see the I love BP stamped on a fish cake. read more

Ordered the beef hot pot moderate spicy, with tangy beef and holy cow. Service is great; they come by a few times to refill the soup base if needed. Only complaint is wish the heat level could be adjusted, since it's just always set to "high." read more

I personally ended up ordering the Vegetarian dish as my current diet works well with vegetables. What I personally love about this dish is that it is surprisingly flavorful being it all vegetables. The sauces provided go excellent with this choice. I also really enjoyed their fresh milk teas that are made here as well. Overall, the food here is solid. Our server Kim was very hospitable! Definitely recommend this location for BP. The service, portion, and hygiene of this location is fantastic. Although the exterior might look run down, this is a hole in the wall is a gem, especially for Taiwanese Hotpot. There are many customers during lunch. Not too loud, but not too quiet either. Selection is good because of the 10 flavors to choose from and there is a free drink (green tea or wintermelon) included during lunch. I'd give it zero stars if I could, but absolutely terrible. This review relates to our visit on 11/17/24. We've been long time customers of Boiling Point and this recent visit was extremely appalling. The food was fine as always but what we found in the food was shocking. There was a piece of steel in the soup from a steel wool scrubber underneath all the meat. Not just a flimsy piece like tinfoil, but it was a hard piece of steel that could cut through my napkin and in this case, my intestines if swallowed. It would've been much worse if it was with a customer who didn't catch it before eating it. When brought to the attention of the server, all they offered was a free drink or a 10% discount... did not even offer to make me a new hotpot and expected me to continue eating the same exact pot not knowing if there were more steel shards in the soup. The worst part was when I emailed and brought it up with their head office and they still haven't addressed the carelessness of their staff and it's been more than a week. This just goes to show how much they care about their customers and the cleanliness and care that they put into their food. I understand that it was a small piece, but it's still a piece of hard steel that can cause internal injuries if swallowed and still considered a huge health hazard and the worse of all was the way the restaurant dealt with the issue. The food itself was okay...not amazing, but not bad either. Just your standard hot pot food. However, I do feel like the quality of the meat was not that great. Aside from the food, I really enjoyed the sauces they provided. The garlic soy sauce and garlic bean paste were both delicious. None of the servers looked like they wanted to be there, lol. Today is cold and overcast, which is perfect for this Taiwanese hot pot style restaurant. Located in a shopping center, located at the corner of Hacienda Bl & Halliburton St., in Hacienda Heights. The dinning area is a little on the small side and with it popularity, there is usually a line waiting to to get in. Immediately go to the front and get on the waiting list, by entering your name on displayed tablet. The restaurant itself is clean, simply decorated with photos and menus of their food items. Numerous bowls of pre set items to choose from, optional add-in items available, as well as heat levels you may desire. I ordered the pre set beef hot pot, with a side of ramen noodles to add in. Within a few minutes, they bring out your fully loaded bowl, sitting on a little mini burner. My soup bowl was loaded with beef slices, assorted mushrooms, vermicelli glass noodles and assorted vegetables. Flavoring of the broth was awesome, not ovetly salty. Steaming hot, both temperature & spice wise. It was a good burn though. The ramen noodles was a great addition. Staffers were all nice, friendly and attentive. I came here on a Thursday afternoon around 5pm and it was empty. I've been here before and it was really busy but this time we didn't have to wait at all. The place is small but the food is good and the service is friendly and kind. My usual order is the beef noodles but I tried the Taiwan Spicy and it was good. The flavor was nice, I was thinking it would be more like a Szechuan style but there was a hint of curry instead and a good kick as well. Not overwhelmingly spicy but well balanced in my opinion. There was a bogo winter melon tea deal that complimented our meal well. The server was sweet and friendly and everything came out quick. They put out our fire when it was over boiling our meal and refilled our broth as well. These types of meals are "comfort foods" and although they aren't gourmet, they hit the spot.
