I've had one visit and the people were very friendly. The front desk and getting checked in was a very good experience and she was quite lovely. I felt I got good care although I felt I did need to advocate for myself on a few minor things. I didn't want them polishing my teeth before the hygienist had completed her scaling. It is not a good practice to polish teeth before all the plaque has been removed. They have quite a few staff members that do different things. They have two hygienist and then they have assistance that do the polishing. You can request having one person do the scaling and the polishing, but they can only accommodate that on certain days due to the lack of staffing?? So for my next visit, I will have one person do it all. They were quite accommodating. I think I'm scheduled with a different dentist for my next visit. I think I will see her and see how I like her. She is newer in her career, but I feel I might like to give her a shot. The jury is still out for me. I'll update in 6 months.

Refused to give me any more info) I had an appointment back in June, they called me to let me know that my Medicaid wouldn't cover the work I needed done, and that it resets in August. And to reschedule for after that. So I waited, and then called today to try and schedule an appointment, Jen, with an incredibly rude tone told me I'm "dismissed from the clinic due to a no call no show in June" and then while she was explaining about the policy, I tried to tell her that didn't apply to me, because I did speak with someone, and was told to reschedule after August. She cut me off immediately and told me to "stop talking, I haven't finished my sentence yet." I was shocked at how rude she was. So I asked for a manager. She said "I am the manager" so I asked for the owner. She said "there's nobody above me" and hung up on me. Admittedly I was pretty taken aback and upset with how I was being treated. I called back and she just said "you're dismissed from this office" and hung up on me again. I never write reviews, or complain about anything. I know things are hard for people, I've been in those roles before and it's hard to deal with people all day. Idk if she was just having an awful day or something, but she had zero excuse to ever talk to somebody like that, especially not a customer/patient. At this point I probably would not want to go back to an office that treats people that way, but I would like to speak to the actual manager or owner and discuss. Their actual dental work from the dentist was pretty decent from my last time there, and service was okay then too. So idk if it's a new person or she just wasn't there last time. But she needs a serious sit down with management. I would never in a million years allow an employee representing my company to treat anyone that way. She's clearly really skilled and made my cleaning super comfortable. She explained everything as she went and was so kind and gentle the whole time. And Dr. Wood? So knowledgeable and honest. He took the time to go over everything with me and made sure I understood what was going on without ever feeling rushed or overwhelmed. I really appreciated how upfront and down-to-earth he was. I've always maintained a routine of going every six months for a cleaning, which is typically covered by my insurance. During the appointment, the dentist began explaining additional procedures. I respectfully interrupted to let him know that if those procedures weren't covered by insurance, I would prefer not to pursue them. I didn't think it was unreasonable to avoid unexpected charges--especially when my goal was a standard cleaning. A few minutes later, the dentist returned and informed me that we would not be a good match. I was stunned. The way it was handled felt dismissive and humiliating. It left me questioning not only his approach but also his sense of professionalism and ethics. Choosing not to take on extra financial burden should never equate to being treated with less respect. No patient deserves to be made to feel inferior simply for advocating for themselves.

When I found Birchwood (through reviews and their online site), they had a waiting list. On the list I went and only had to wait a few months. Located in a small strip mall, it's easy to miss, but very close to my home. Been there twice for x-rays and cleanings. Evan was my hygenists both times and he does an excellent job. I love the tv screen on the ceiling as they play netflix's Moving Art. The images are immersive and relaxing. So much so, I started playing it at home. It had been ages since a dentist had checked my teeth at my previous dentist office as he would not be in the office on a regular basis and you had to make a separate appointment from cleaning just to have him check your teeth for a few minutes. Dr. Holdaway checked my teeth at the end of each cleaning. Everyone I encountered is friendly and professional from start to finish. Lucky to find this group.
