Food was fine. But they used AI to take the order at the drive-thru and it was obvious and awkward. Did not have any screen or anything to indicate the bot was getting the facts right. I am less inclined to give this place my business if they're letting AI work jobs that require human nuance. Extremely unprofessional and sloppy decision. I doubt I'll be using the drive-thru again because I want to ensure things are done correctly. The lady at the window who took my payment was awesome, a refreshing human face who did her job well. If zero stars was an option... Three employees stood in the back and refused to serve my family. They watched us walk in and glanced over at us multiple times but did not approach or speak. They continued to fulfill drive-thru customers. After 10 full minutes, my husband asked if they take orders at the counter. Not one of them looked at us or responded. After a 13-hour road trip all we wanted was a hot meal. Instead, we're back on the interstate. I suggest you take the extra time to drive ANYWHERE else but here. My deepest apologies to the older couple dining in for my husband's outburst. This location's is awful. My visit started with a 5 minute wait at the ordering speaker, and then they didn't get my drink right. I have now been sitting here for 20 minutes while customers have come and gone behind me. This is ridiculous, if you are short staffed, just let the public know! I was hyped to try this southern fried chicken institution. Fried chicken and biscuits, I mean how can you go wrong? Lol evidently you can. Service was ok, I ordered a combo meal with chicken, fries, dirty rice and biscuits with a half gallon of ice tea. We definitely don't look like locals.. and he knew we needed it as a to go order. I had to ask for each thing to be able to eat it in the car. Plates, napkins, ketchup, honey and I forgot to ask for utensils so had to use my hands to eat the rice (no biggie, I'm asian) and then it wasn't good enough for me to continue so I gave up. Lol! The chicken lacked flavor which is a travesty especially for southern fried chicken and was soggy (which should be illegals)! Fries and biscuits are good but very oily. Most horrible service EVER!!! Ieven spoke to manager and called corporate will in the parking lot to ONLY BE IGNORED!!! We ordered 4 New Bojangles sandwiches spent $19.20 and literally had to wait over 30 minutes. The dining room was closed, drive thru packed but we waited patiently. We wanted Chicken tenders but they were sold out, so we went with their new advertised sandwiches. I paid and they asked me to pull to the side...what choice did I have??? I wanted to eat!!! They said about 8 minutes, 22 minutes later I thought they forgot us. Still had traffic back to back, so I walked over to the window. They said We are almost ready, be right there please go back to your car. I didnt want to cause a scene, I was mad. So I called inside the storr but they didnt answer the phone. So, I get back out and walk back over. I am mad!! I holler over the other customer, I just want a refund!!! They said We are coming now!!! So, I asked for manager. The manager apologized,handed my bag and walked back into store. I was fuming mad!!!! And no napkins!!! I called corporate!!! They called me back the next day. I told them my situation and what happened. They apologized!!! No one even offered me a refund!! No one offered coupons, discounts.....nothing!!! I am so freaking upset!!! This was horrible!!! Walked and wasn't greeted the cashier just kinda looked at us like "what do you want" but he turned out to be great just not social. He had great recommendation on the menu and the other employees where very polite and helpful. The tenders were flavorful. The sides are really small but still not bad in taste. The ice machine was broken but they were able to get ice from the back. Very clean dining area and from what I can see from the back, it was a reflection of the back. Every employee had on gloves. In particular the biscuit was, while not bad, still notably inferior even to a Cracker Barrel biscuit, and the fried chicken, while better than a lot of fast food chicken, was still fast food fried chicken. I WAS SO EXCITED WHEN I SAW THIS PLACE. There are a few in KY, but in cities pretty out of the way from the one I live in. I HAD TO TRY their MTN DEW exclusive Southern Shock. It was really good. I also decided to have dinner here, chicken sandwich (so good), but not as hyped as Popeyes (I would state that it is near as good as Popeyes). Their pinto beans are amazing too, almost like a chili. The only con was that the service was slow and another guy nearly made me pay for another individual's meal because he thought I was the customer who still needed to pay in the drive through when the individual helping me out was still getting my stuff together. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- They have a better survey deal than Popeyes! They offer a BOGO deal on sausage biscuits if one submits a survey on their experience (this was a lifesaver when the hotel, I stayed at, did not offer a complimentary breakfast I had included in the fare I paid). All I thought I needed to do was ask the hotel lobby at 6 a.m. in the morning if I could use a pen to write down any code (thinking I needed to like wendy's but never had to), but it was even easier than that. This is also where there can be an issue, however, because when finished, you will have a barcode that they will ask to show to the cashier (on phone or printed) along with the receipt you did the survey on, when you order the items. I would think writing down a code on the back of the receipt would be more streamlined than showing two different documents. Luckily, the gal knew how to charge me only for one sausage biscuit and gravy (I had to order this as a side to complete the combination). For anyone wanting to know Popeyes, their survey gives a 2 piece chicken meal with side if one were to purchase a large drink (the large drink ends up being more expensive). I found a Bojangles here in Abingdon, Va because they reminded me of what I had craved before when I was in the Atlanta area couple of years ago. Since then, it was nice to return to this franchise. Pretty cool to find them in the west southwest corner of Virginia. Bojangles is a regional fast food chain that is famous for its fried chicken and biscuits, among other favorites. From my previous experience with Bojangles, I fell in love with their dirty rice, I knew I had to go back and experience more. Bojangles isn't a nationwide restaurant, although I wished it would have been. I'm thankful that I located near my hotel in Abingdon, Virginia. The dirty rice is amazing, I thought. While Popeye's does have a strangly similar product, I felt like I had to come to Bojangles to get the real stuff. One of my last meals in WSW Virginia was here at this Bojangles fast food restaurant. I arrived here around 12:45pm on a Sunday afternoon, at the tale end of the lunch rush. Thankfully on a Sunday, there wasn't much of a rush at all and I was basically one of the few people in line that day. This experience here at this Bojangles was short and sweet. I opted to dine in after getting my order, since I had really nowhere to be at the time. I did enjoy the quiet ambiance that morning in this Bojangles restaurant. At the time of my visit, the restaurant dining area was virtually empty, so it was nice. Bojangles restaurant was really clean and quite nice, especially when you're here on a Sunday. The overall experience here at this particular Bojangles Famous Chicken N Biscuits was positive, quiet, casual, and very much good. I do draw similarities with Popeye's chicken fast food restaurant and wonder if they are brother / sister companies or something. For the most part though, I spent about 45 minutes here from stepping in the door, ordering, pick up, eating, and leaving the establishment. I can't rave about the dirty rice enough and should have picked up more dirty rice for later cravings. Being that Bojangles does not have locations in Hawaii just yet, it would be best that I come to one during my future trips where Bojangles has a presence. I did order the 5 piece fried chicken meal, which came with 2 sides and a drink. The prices here are pretty good and surprisingly a little bit cheaper than what I am used to when I purchase from KFC or Popeyes in Honolulu, HI. Still amazed that fried chicken is as pricey as it is (generally speaking), but I guess the restaurant needs to make money too. I did enjoy the crispy skin that comes with the fried chicken. I ordered spicy, which was nice and welcomed on a Sunday here in WSW Virginia. My sides ordered during that experience were the dirty rice, of course, and a biscuit. I enjoyed the biscuit as well, as it was very warm as I imagine it came straight from the oven. The meal was nice and definitely a welcome addition to the Abingdon community. This Bojangles Famous Chicken N Biscuits fast food restaurant is located at 25011 Western Loop in Abingdon, VA. It was basically down the street from my hotel where I was staying for a weekend in March 2019, the Red Roof Inn, so it was very convenient for me. I just happened to be driving around the downtown area and saw this and thought it was a good time for Bojangles. They accept major credit cards, which is always a good thing - as well as cash for us tourist folk who are always on the go. Parking here can be problematic, if you come here during peak hours. Best bet would be to come before or after the lunch or dinner rush to secure the best parking spot available. There is public transportation available in Abingdon, but they also serve multiple communities in the region. Not sure if they do come to this part of Abingdon though. Best bet would be to have your own rental car or private car to come here. I'm sure many people do. If not, you could always see if Uber and Lyft operate in the area. For the most part though, my time here at Bojangles Famous Chicken N Biscuits was nice and had my fill of dirty rice. Hope to be back again at a Bojangles location soon. Well, not this specific location as I've been here already. Still, fried chicken is a comfort food I can eat over and over again. While not the healthiest, it serves its customer base and once in a while is definitely okay. If you're in the area of WSW Virginia or passing through, come check things out here at Bojangles in Abingdon, VA. 4.0 stars for the overall experience. 4.0 stars for the food, especially the dirty rice. I have never had a good experience at this restaurant. The food is only decent and every time I have been there something in my order is always wrong. I was in the drive thru and was asked to pull up and wait for my food for "5 minutes" when there were no customers inside or behind me. Instead of 5 minutes, it was 20. Horrible! 0/5 would and would not recommend. Waited over 15 minutes at the drive thru menu. I NEVER EVEN GOT MY ORDER TAKEN. They kept stating, "we'll be with you in a minute". When I respectfully asked how much longer would the wait be drive thru worker very rudely stated "as soon as we get the line down. If you would like to put in an application, then you can do so". This was highly unacceptable and for how many people were in line (3 cars ahead of me) and highly unprofessional. I typically stop at Bojangles when in the South, but definitely bypassing this one the next time. I know it's fast good and shouldn't expect much but ugh. Staff were flustered, order was wrong, sandwich I got was so dried out not sure how long it was sitting around, sweet potato pie was like warm at best and the place hadn't been swept or tables cleaned in a while.
