I inherited a beautiful one of a kind Steuban landscape piece that had a small chink taken out of one side of the rectangular piece (not my fault, mom!). While setting it up (being oh...so....careful...) I went and dropped it which resulted in a much larger piece broken on the corner. It was bad. There's not a lot of options, it appears, for repairing this type of item and I reached out to Michael at Bokrosh Studio. He called back very quickly from my leaving a message and went through his process for repairing it. It was a few months before I even sent the piece (from Texas) and for him to get to my repair, but he was good about keeping me up to date on the timing so I was content. When it came time for my item to be repaired, he gave me a couple of options and I chose the more expensive, but better result option upon his recommendation. The repair was done and item returned. I am more than satisfied! The repair is wonderful, both areas of damage are gone and, frankly, no one would be the wiser as it looks better than ever. For openers, I have waited quite some time to review this place. I have spent the last few years feeling angry and ripped off. This guy was arrogant and rude although he did pull his horns in after a bit. He charged us 1400 US and when it finally came back (postal strike delays) it was broken in exactly the same place as before. Oh and he mentioned a 200 fee for taking it to the courier as he didn't like the paper work and waiting was an issue. He flat out refused to send it by courier so it came by post. This guy doesn't know how to pack or how things travel over the border. It had to be opened at the border to be inspected. It took a long time (he was ill for part of this) for the work to be completed. We did manage to find a place in Canada and the Murano horse is back and beautiful. The gentleman who did do the successful job charged us somewhere around 100 CDN plus we had to pay the shipping (understandable). I only wish we found this Canadian gentleman sooner. I had a boxed set of six Venetian glass goblets with dragon connectors that had unfortunately been dropped. Every goblet had snapped off at the foot, and there were tiny shards in the wrapping. I consulted Michael to repair them. He explained the details of his process and prepared me for the cost. The job was more complicated than I imagined, but what he told me made sense since I have worked with glass myself. I also appreciated his judgment (as an professional with extensive experience) that the repairs would be worthwhiIe and that the results would be good. I went ahead with the job. The results were better than good; the repairs were virtually undetectable even in sunlight. Care was taken to blend in bits of gold leaf with the glass to preserve the original look of the piece. I am completely happy with Michael's restoration, the expertise of which matched the original craftsmanship of the glassblowing. Now I am able to feature them proudly at table without apology. I will also note that more recently I turned to Michael about a piece of fine gilt crystal that I hoped might be reparable. It had a chip on the rim. While he did not preclude the possibility of it, Michael asked the right questions over the phone. Looking more carefully, I discovered a tiny run originating from the point of impact on the rim. (It was hard to spot because of the pattern of gold decoration overlaying it.) This time he did not recommend repair, and I agreed. I appreciate his honestly even if it meant forfeiting the work. I have had a Venetian glass chandelier for about 15 years. There were four pieces that was broken when it was shipped to me. I have looked for a repair person for years. This chandelier is very special to me because a dear aunt bought it in Venice Italy more than 60 years ago. I loved it as a child, I would lay on her bed staring up at it for hours thinking it was so pretty. It has gold flaking and very intricate details. I read all the reviews and decided the things that were important to me and getting my chandelier fixed were things Michael did very well. We shipped a Steuben small pineapple that had a broken frond. He broke it further. According to him, after he had satisfactorily repaired the piece, he managed to break it again in a fashion that was ultimately irreparable. He failed to notify me of this for over three months and I had to call him to determine the status. When asked how he would compensate us, he said he is not responsible for breakage, although this is not mentioned on his website nor did he disclose it over the phone. He proposed the analogy that if he cut himself working on my piece, should I be held responsible for his injury? My feeling is that if a plumber or a physician agrees to perform a service and makes the situation worse, he is liable for making it right. I don't see why a glass repair guy should be any different. His logic escapes me, as does his professionalism. He did offer to ship the broken pieces back at his expense and said he would not charge for his "work". While he may typically be good at what he does, he clearly has moments that should give one pause before contracting for his services. On his website, he states, "It is the intention of Bokrosh Studio to communicate clearly with the client during the repair process and to keep the client's trust throughout the whole restoration process." If you want extraordinary work, Michael is your man. I have a treasured Loredano sculpture that was passed down to me by deceased parents, so you can imagine how important this was to me. It's a beautiful piece of a kneeling nude. It was knocked off a table and the body broke away from the base and the base suffered considerable damage. We were brokenhearted. I did some research and found Michael. After a conversation, I shipped the piece to him. We talked about the repair, and while he has strong opinions, I found him professional and very business like. There was no foul language and nothing inappropriate. Michael is expensive. The repair was costly. However, the amount of work was huge and we said OK, and took the gamble. The work was done a few few weeks. Honestly, I expected it to take much longer. He charged extra for packing. Worth every penny. When the piece arrived the other day, we were speechless. It is truly more beautiful now then before, far beyond expectations. We have all, at times, purchased expensive items or services. But when you get pleasure every time you look at the item, all you feel is joy and happy you spent the money. I am very grateful that we found Michael. Michael Bokrosh is the owner of BOKROSH STUDIO in Washington state who CLAIMS he is "the best" glass repair person, and even better than most of the glass artists themselves, that do hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of originals. He stated to me in part of a 45 minute conversation that the glass pieces used, adhesives and the hand polishing done by world renowned artists are cheap, low quality and when finished, not nearly what they should be and that he would, after receiving my sculpture, "up sell me" to do a coating for an additional charge that will make the sculpture what it should have been in the first place. (Well then why isn't HE a world renowned glass artist???) I had over a 45 minute phone conversation about a Dino Rosin piece of glass art that needed to be repaired. He claimed he had worked on 'hundreds' of this specific sculpture. In that conversation, I (obviously) asked for an estimated range of what it would cost for the repairs. He quoted between $400-$600 and that would INCLUDE return shipping back to me on the East Coast. He would send back the sculpture after he repaired it, sent pictures for my approval and he receives a payment only via PayPal or a check. So basically, he could keep your check and artwork and you have no recourse, ultimately. I shipped it to him (at the cost of a small fortune) in hopes the sculpture would be back to its original condition. After I received delivery notification via UPS, which is how I shipped it to him, I included a note to call me to confirm he received it and also confirm the estimated range was still accurate. (A phone call that I never received either.) WELL... I call him the next day and he starts off saying that, "I never gave you an estimated range of a quote over the phone". Really, who sends a sculpture to someone for repair if you have NO idea what the range of repairs may be????? Really! Furthermore, he then stated that it could take at least 4-5 months and that it could cost well over $1,000 or more for the repair. He suddenly claimed he had relocated his studio and had well over 400 glass pieces to unpack and had no idea where any repair pieces were as nothing was labeled. Ridiculous. I then made contact with the artists studio overseas themselves who was able to repair it for €850 ($935). Why would someone elect a repair person over the artist himself when it's his original piece of art and less to repair???!!! In the meantime from hearing that, I contacted the art gallery I purchased the sculpture from and they provided a very reputable and regularly used company who has worked on many Dino Rosin's pieces and their turnaround time is about 1-2 weeks and the cost no more than $100 ... and the Art Gallery personally vouched of their finished products that come back looking like the original. I contacted Michael Bokrosh and requested to have my sculpture shipped back to me and I will pay for the return shipping since I have confidence and affirmation this specific company works on these pieces. Michael's response was, "Well first of all, I doubt anybody else can do the quality of work I do, but if that's the case, why didn't you do your due diligence in the first place and contact them instead of sending it to me?" With a response like that - great question. He is a SCAM artist, not a glass artist. How you're a small business owner and speak to a person like that completely baffles me. I then offered to send a prepaid shipping label to him and have UPS pick it back up at his location, of which he declined and said, "I'll get to it sometime this week" (it's Monday FYI). Two days later on Wednesday, I mailed a check to pay for the return shipping costs with a tracking number (thankfully) on a Wednesday to him, delivered that Saturday to the front desk received by a receptionist according to the confirmation (3 days later across country). I contacted him the following Wednesday (four days after the documented confirmation that it was delivered to his location) to confirm receipt of the check. He claimed he didn't. Four hours later, he text stating he "just did" receive it and only goes to the bank on Friday's and once the check clears he will send out the art sculpture Wednesday (one full week from confirming receipt of the check,and two weeks from when I mailed it with a tracking number) and therefore, I won't receive my sculpture back until THE FOLLOWING WEEK, WITH NO WORK EVEN DONE AND HE'S HAD IT FOR OVER A MONTH. R I D I C U L O U S. AGAIN, A SCAM ARTIST NOT A GLASS ARTIST. On Saturday, which is after three days of him "going to UPS" on Wednesday's, I asked him for a tracking number for my records ... never responded from that point forward. What a businessman. He reassured me that I just had to give an hour's notice and that the day I had picked would be fine. There was no one in Spokane to do the work, so when I had to go to Seattle (worth the 5 hour drive) I took the waterford with me. I rarely give reviews, however I feel impelled to write this one. I called Michael (owner of Bokrosh Studio) to have three glass items repaired, I guess I should have known from when I originally spoke with him and I asked for pricing or estimates and he continually during the conversation used the FU** and SH** words, to be honest I don't even feel comfortable just putting the "two beginning letters" that is not me, but I was shocked to call a company and here them use those words. Anyway I sent the items prior to the repair, he called me and asked the history of the items and what they meant to me, that was another sign, meaning if I said they belong to my mother or father that passed and they are extremely sentimental he would charge a higher price, I own my own business and I felt that is what he was trying to find out. "I just said they were some pieces I have that I need repaired" one piece was an inexpensive, but sentimental piece ( I did not tell him that) I was SHOCKED when he said well that piece is a piece of SH** (please keep in mind he and I had NO disagreements, no hostile words, it was how he spoke. Yes the piece was not of large value, but once it again it was sentimental, he charged 350.00 for all three pieces to repair two of them he did a very good job, the one he called a piece of SH** was not repaired correctly you can easily see the crack on the front. He told me he would charge 350.00 and include the shipping (keep in mind I own my own business, use UPS, FED EX all the time and those costs are included in when offering free shipping nothing in this world is free, lol) anyway as soon as he said 350.00 I said well your price is high, but I will agree and pay the 350.00 He then said, OK, we will start the repair and when finished we will send photos and they you can pay by paypal or check, which I agreed (he also told me several times, he was making no money on this order, why do you tell someone a price and then keep on saying you will not make any money on this, I know I don't do business that way) So then a few days later he called and said your order is all complete "we did a great job on two of the items, but the one piece he refereed to again as a piece of SH** (please keep in mind we had NO disagreements, no ill words towards each other it is just how he talks very, very unprofessional is what I kept on thinking to myself) Then he tells me you will not FU**in believe this but my employee packed the pieces all up so I don't have the photos to send you, I was hesitant, because I did not want to pay for something without seeing the product, I have to say he was nice and said well I will mail them to you and when you receive them and inspect them you can pay me (I thought that was nice of him to trust a person you have never dealt with) however he was using the F and SH word that you can't get good help and told me he would have his employee call me to apologize for not taking the photos, I said that would not be necessary, but I just felt he wanted to humiliate his employee. The employee called and was very well spoken and apologized for taking the photos prior, I told him don't worry about it things happen. So I received all three pieces was not satisfied with how he fixed one piece, but, I paid him in full the 350.00 he sent me two ways to pay either mail in a check of 350.00 or pay by paypal but if you paid by pay pal there was an extra fee, which is ridiculous that is the cost of doing business, (however I paid him 350.00 because if you pay someone on paypal as a "friend of family" the receiver will not have any charges on their end) I get charged fees when people buy from me and use paypal, but that is part of doing business, well end of the the reason for my review, is I wanted this to be paid by my company I own since two of these items broke when used for props for photography, so I emailed him after he received my money and he wrote back with a link to yelp and told me once I wrote a review he would then send a receipt, who does that just so unprofessional so here is my review and I am sure I will NOT get a receipt. read more

I feel the same as other posters if I could give him zero stars I would. I was referred by Avalon Glass Works for glass repair. He was incredibly rude and just downright hostile. When I questioned his suggested approach (gluing vs glass fix) because my piece was a window ornament he showed me another customers piece (which was a large glass plate and was totally different than mine), called the women who owned it an idiot and that it was a "piece of "sh*t" - When I tried to point out that the pieces were pretty different and that I was hoping to avoid gluing because my piece would not look the same as the original he abruptly told me that we that we "weren't going to get along" and stalked out of the room. Don't know if this guy is any good at repair but he sure isn't worth the grief. There are plenty of other folks around that can do repair - Don't bother with this guy!!!!! read more

Yes, this experience was as good as it can get! A glass bird was knocked off a shelf and I was sure it was damaged beyond repair. I sent all the pieces to Michael and it is fixed so that no one would ever know it was damaged. He gave me explicit directions on how to pack and ship the bird to him. His estimate was exactly what he charged me and I thought the price was more than fair. He responded to emails and phone calls and had the repair completed within the timeframe he had told me. I'm sharing my few interactions with Michael because he was able to come up with an ingenious fix for a glass problem I had, which no one else had proposed. And I'm really pleased with the results. I'd made an impulsive purchase of a gorgeous 4 foot blue glass depiction of a salmon run on Copper Creek, knowing that it had a break on one corner that had been re-glued, but really wanting to believe the salesperson when he said that I shouldn't be concerned about that ...that I just needed to be careful when I moved the glass around. By the time I reached home the glued corner had fallen off. I liked the art so much, however, that I wanted to see if I could save it with a reattachment that actually lasted. All the glass repair shops I contacted recommended better glues with minor differences in technique. As a long time believer in "seek and ye shall find," I decided to keep calling until I sensed the door opening....which happened when one glass repair shop unreservedly recommended contacting another one, Kusak Cut Glass Works, saying they were the best people in town for this kind of problem. My next surprise (and I was impressed with them for doing this) was that when I walked into Kusak's, and their personnel became aware of the quality of my art, and the reality of the problem, they immediately said I should contact Michael Bokrosh. Walking into Michael Bokrosh's shop was an experience. Drill presses, giant C clamps, a wall of sanding belts, what might have been a kiln, sinks, and all of this stuff intermixed with glass art in various stages of repair, including (I learned later) an amazing piece of glass I was jaw dropped over, selling for $7500, and destined for Australia. Michael approached, clearly in his element. We talked. He looked at my art. Silence...then out of the blue he recommended that rather than re-gluing, that he refinish the broken edge so that it was indistinguishable from the remaining good edge. And so it was. That edge now looks like it was part of the original art, and any background concerns I might have had about when that corner would fall...just never happened. I'm impressed. read more

I've never written a review before but wanted to thank Michael for his outstanding work. I have a beautiful hand blown, Murano glass bowl that I bought in Murano, Italy many years ago. Unfortunately, someone dropped it and the lip of the bowl was broken into numerous pieces. I was ready to throw the bowl away knowing there was no way it could be repaired. My husband found Michael's information on the internet and we called him. He was very knowledgeable and confident that he could repair our bowl. He gave us detailed information on how to ship the bowl and once he received it, he called and walked us through the different options to repair it. He stayed in touch with us throughout the process and kept with the project even though it was more difficult and time consuming to fix than he originally thought.
