My wife of 45 years recently passed, and our family was looking for a caterer for her Celebration of Life. The Celebration's venue, Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farms, highly recommended Bold BBQ. My daughter and I were offered a tasting at Bold' facility which was fantastic! Jack just kept bringing and explaining the cooking techniques for some great food. This was a no-brainer. Day of the celebration - they delivered! I had many people complement the quality of food and service. While all their food was great, I'd kill for the cornbread casserole and lemon bar recipes. TL:DR - Wedding catered (80 people) - Affordable - Very responsive - Amazing customer service - Superb food - Tons of guest compliments THE SEARCH ---- Shopping for wedding catering is horrid. I'm pretty sure if you add "wedding" at the beginning of anything it'll raise the price by at least 77.4%. I was becoming more stressed with each phone call and price quote (yeah, some places hide the prices so you have to call to get spammed by marketing emails after you hand over your first born and home address), but it wasn't so here. I found this gem, on accident after half my hair had been pulled out, right here on Yelp. Ratings were good but there weren't many. I decided to check their website so I could contact them. GUESS WHAT I FOUND...they had their prices listed. Right there. For everyone to see. Score 1 for them. THE INVESTIGATION ---- My wedding was held in the evening and we wanted a nicer meal without having to sell any organs. I was skeptical at having BBQ for a nicer evening meal, well now I was just silly! There were a few items that caught my eye. I'm a Texas gal and like my brisket, but for evening? Still unsure. The rosemary-garlic smoked chicken sounded perfect for a nice dinner. How about the best of both worlds?! The sides could be incorporated for a lunch event or dinner. I was pleased with the selections. BUT...BUT...I was still unsure of how these things would stand up to my foodie-connoisseur taste buds. They must be sampled. I finally bit the bullet (is that PC?) and called to ask for samples. THE TASTE ---- My schedule was hectic and my then fiancee worked 6 days a week (you see, he's a hard working construction worker and is really hot...but that's another story). It was hard to schedule going to them to pick up food. They scheduled a meet up with me on a Saturday at my husbands job site. NOW THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE. After profusely thanking them, we took the food and stuffed our faces. That chicken. Never. Such. A. Moist. Bird. I wasn't yet sold on the brisket. You see, I pride myself on my brisket pallet. It was good, but would it stand up to my family coming from BBQ central? THE ORDER ---- My husband and I decided to rope them into our wedding chaos. We did a 2 meat, 3 side combo. I had so many questions. I'm surprised Jordan (one of the two founders) didn't put my email on block. He was so patient and responded to my concerns with kindness and detail. I trusted I was in good hands at this point. THE WEDDING ---- It was SOOOO smooth. On time set-up and since I had my ceremony and reception at the same place, they came early to set-up so that they wouldn't interrupt the ceremony. WOWZA. What consideration?! The smell almost made me leave the altar early. Don't worry, I said "almost". THE CEREMONY ---- Everyone always says you don't get a chance to eat during your reception. I'm here to give you some sage, 2-week married, wise advice. Don't be a fool. Sit down and eat and savor. My newly minted husband and I made it down to our reception after we allowed our guests to go through the buffet line. We made it down after our pictures and went straight to the buffet. We sat down and ate. I can tell you there is no other first married meal I wanted to share with my beloved than that one. The brisket melted in my mouth and the chicken was as I had dreamt about. Our brussels with bacon, mac-n-cheese, and sweet potato salad were scrumptious. Everything paired so well. We had a bottle of red and wine white on each table for guests to match the meal with. EVERYTHING WAS SO PERFECT. THE COMPLIMENTS ---- I don't want to exaggerate anything because I want you to make an informed decision here, but I've never heard so many compliments about a meal. My husband and I made our rounds to greet each guest and the first thing we heard was "this meal is amazing, where is it from?". It felt nice not to have to worry about being a good hostess because it seemed BOLD BBQ had done it all for me. The cherry on top was my friend, a Denver Sheriff transplanted from TX, couldn't believe he had found the best brisket in Denver (I let him continue with his notion that he discovered it). He is the biggest bbq snob I know and he was pleased. That gave me the seal of approval and confidence to tell you that you WILL NOT REGRET this caterer. He plans to get his home catered. When my husband and I decided we wanted to do barbecue catering for our wedding, we really weren't sure what we were going to get, but we are honestly SO lucky to find Bold BBQ and have them be our caterers, and we will be remembering our wedding food for years to come! From the very beginning, Jordan (one of the co-founders) was incredibly responsive and communicative. He answered any and all of our questions and set up a tasting with Tyler (the other co-founder) so we could try their delicious fare and chat with Tyler about his vision and mission for the business, including more incorporation of meat and produce from local and/or small producers, which is always something we seek out. Between the tasting and the wedding, Jordan was again incredible, answering all my random questions promptly. And when the big day arrived, I have to admit, my husband and I were just as excited about eating some delicious barbecue as we were about getting married! Bold BBQ brought their own linens, chafing dishes, tables, and serving utensils, as well as plates and cutlery. Their set-up was beautiful and professional, and the custom wood-and-metal chafing dish holders are absolutely gorgeous. Tyler and Parker were there to man the buffet line and they were so courteous and friendly! We picked the two meat/three side plan for our guests and went with pulled pork, brisket, cornbread casserole, green bean salad, and macaroni and cheese. Comfort food in a rustic elegant style! They have great customer service and delicious BBQ choices. We had a small wedding in Winter Park and they delivered in every way! They were responsive to questions, and arranged a tasting for the bride and groom. Their operation is clean and compliant with county Covid rules, and the guests were completely taken with how good the food was. We ordered pulled pork, BBQ's chicken, Tofu for 5 persons for the veggie eaters in the group, bourbon beans, cornbread casserole, mac and cheese and a green salad.
