We were the first ones there on a Thursday night and the host was very kind and so were both bartenders. Looked through the menu and ordered their espresso martini and also the old fashioned. Both drinks were on the pricier side but well worth it. My espresso martini went down easy. I would definitely come back for a drink or two with friends or a good spot for a date :)

It was cold enough that we chose to sit inside instead, but the interior was also chilly. Every time the door to the patio opened, a draft of cold air rushed in, which made the space feel colder than expected. The drinks are on the expensive side, but the quality mostly backs up the price. I ordered the Donna's Kiss and it was absolutely worth it, very well made and delicious. I've been wanting to come here for quite some time, and was finally able to get some friends to join me. We immediately loved the greeting upon entry. They have a red carpet and red velvet ropes, made us feel like we were very important! I've read the other reviews, but really don't understand why people dislike this aspect so much? They ID you upon entry, its a bar, I expect this...whats the big deal? Anyways, LOVE the cocktails! I don't know what the heck they do to their Paloma but it's the best I've ever had! We also asked for the bartender to whip up a fun shot that we could all shoot to celebrate my girlfriends birthday, and those were super tasty! The humidor is large and they had a lot to offer. I do not know much about cigars, nor did my girls, but that was never an issue because the friendly gentlemen (I think his name was Jeff?) took his time with us newbies and helped educate us on what the heck we were smoking lol We got small cigars that were a little sweet, and mellow on the smoke...loved them! The atmosphere is so cozy and inviting, beautiful leather seating and decor, and was pleasantly surprised how good the air quality was (we expected a lot more smoke in our face, but that was not the case). First class experience! My husband found this place online and had no idea there was a cigar lounge WITH a full bar in town, so he was beyond excited to visit the place. Let me just say...Ladies, this is not just a place for men, they cater to women as well, and I cannot say enough about how amazing our time was here. First of all, I was not expecting an upscale environment. I've went to several cigar lounges with my husband, and none of them have ever been like this. Beautiful and tasteful decor, warm and cozy ambience, music is awesome, love love love the fireplace by the bar, love the velvet chairs (nice touch there!) even the bathroom was super nice! This place is clearly loved and taken well care of because I couldn't believe how clean everything was. For being a cigar lounge and having to battle the tobacco getting stuck on everything, you cannot see or feel it! As a woman, I very much appreciate this. My husband and I agree that this is definitely our new date night spot. We both can enjoy amazing cocktails, he loves his cigars, and I love the entire vibe and experience. I hope people look past the other reviews and give this place a chance because I did not have a negative experience at all, it was quite the opposite. Looking forward to coming back! read more

Top notch place! I met the owner tonight and had a great conversation. He's a Marine Vet, loves his country, loves his family, and clearly loves his business. He has a strong presence, and I think people mistake that as a bad attitude, which is truly too bad because he made my experience amazing. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, great cigar selection and knowledge to back it up, drinks are spot on, atmosphere and seating are extremely cozy and inviting. There really isn't a bad seat in the house. I was up front enjoying my view of the city and people watching, but there's also a fireplace in the back by the bar, as well as high tops and another lounge type seating area by the tv. I came by myself tonight, but I will definitely be bringing more people with me next time. I also found out they have a Cigar Society that's meets monthly, so next time Im in, I will be joining that. I can't say enough about this place, one of a kind and very happy it's right downtown. read more

I travel a lot for business and when I landed in Grand Rapids after a long day, I wanted nothing more than to sit back and relax with a cigar and drink. I was recommended by some servers from a local steak house to visit BOLD. This place was exactly what I was looking for. I was politely greeted upon arrival by Al the owner. He gave me a personal tour of the humidor and lounge, spent time with me in the large walk in humidor to find a cigar for my taste, allowed me to choose my seat, and the rest of my evening was nothing but perfect. His wife Kate made the best old fashioned I've ever had, she even smoked me a cocktail that was presented to me in a glass box, phenomenal products and service. I will be returning to BOLD every time I'm in Grand Rapids. If you haven't been here, it's a must go. I recently went there with my date, and we're enjoying ourselves until AL, "THE OWNER" decided to hit on her. from what she told me she said "that he wants to F me". And he said it in front of his wife. NOW, when I heard this, my init reaction was to go there the next day and kick his ass, but I don't want to go to jail. so I will not be going back there again. so everyone, if you bring a date there, expect him to try to get with your girl. read more

I went into Bold hoping for a good time. I found the drinks to be overpriced. The service was not great. There are a lot of comments that things improved once Al left and Kate took over. Does everyone not remember that she was a crazy keyboard hero who wrote a novel of a response to anyone who criticized Al (husband or ex-husband) or the lounge. Doesn't seem like the place has ever had a stable owner. read more
