I've been to other bookstores that benefit local libraries, and normally the collection is so sad. I'm an avid fiction reader, and pretty picky, and in their fiction section they had tons of great books published in the last couple years that I have loved (for around $5 for most books) In the travel section I found a fairly recent guidebook for Montreal which will be awesome for our upcoming trip. My husband couldn't stop raving about the 4D? John Wick DVDs he found for cheap that he said would easily go for 10x the price on Amazon. We also found lots of cute books for our toddlers that were 2-3 dollars each. Overall, very small shop but some great finds!!

It is small but packed with a nice mix of used books and the prices are really easy on the wallet. I have found everything from fiction to memoirs and kids' books here. It is always a fun surprise what you will come across. The store is super clean and well organized which makes it easy to find what you want without feeling overwhelmed. I love that the books are sorted by genre because it just makes the whole experience more enjoyable. They have two entrances you can use to get inside. One from Pine Street and another from San Anselmo Avenue. Town Books is located in the Courtyard building at the end of the hall so it is easy to find once you know where to look. The people working there are absolutely lovely. They are so friendly and welcoming that you instantly feel comfortable walking in. They are always happy to chat or help if you are looking for recommendations and you can tell they genuinely enjoy being there. Also they appreciate book donations. They accept gently used books during open hours in limited quantities about three boxes or bags per household. They also accept DVDs and CDs in their original packaging. They do not accept cassette tapes, vinyl records, magazines, games or puzzles. The nice ladies toward me that all profits from the sales go straight to supporting the San Anselmo Library so shopping here feels really good. If you are ever in San Anselmo and want to spend some time with good books and great vibes this is definitely the place to check out.

This is a Friends of the Marin County Library store, which means that volunteers lovingly keep the place clean and organized. All of the shelves are clearly listed, with price lists adorning the walls. Some of the books are even discounted further (individually priced on the cover), with an entire back room marked as Clearance (along with the carts outside the front door). Clearance books are mostly $1.00, and most everything else is under $5.00. Community members frequently donate items so the shelves are refreshed regularly. Each time I come by, I always find at least one or two titles to take home (and usually more than that)! There is free street parking, as well as a parking lot in the back of the building. And they only take cash or checks.

And most used bookstores I've been to don't have a really good young adult/ post-early reader kid section. (I usually buy online at sites like second sale, better world books, and thrift books). BUT the prices here are quite a bit higher than what I usually pay for used books. My daughters each picked a paperback graphic novel for $9 each--which is about what I could pay for a new copy of Warriors (younger daughter's choice) on Amazon. I prefer not to use Amazon, but I think in pricing, it's good to consider the competition. Nonetheless, I'm happy this is here.

It can be hard to find this spot if you have not visited before! It is located in Sausalito City Hall on the 2nd floor, upstairs from the library. There is a large parking lot with accessible spots that you enter from Litho street. Only open Mondays 10-1 and Saturdays 12-3.

The store is fun, and their inventory is vast, and anything you'd wanna find from incense, to prayer books, to various pieces of flare you'd wanna wear on your denim jacket. Also you'll find musical instruments, clothing, and many spiritual and sacred objects. But more importantly, every visit I have a conversation with Tanya, one of the owners of Kaleidoscope. Tanya gives me an reading, it's something she's very gifted in, and these readings have been both fun and insightful. It's an honor to have crossed paths with such a compassionate and sincere individual, who is offering so much to her community and customers.
