    Mezze plate + Peroni
    Hemanth G.

Right in middle of mill valley downtown with live band music and lively vibes. Grabbed the mezze plate and draft Peroni to quench the nice warm weather and post hiking. While Presidio and GGate was breezy to walk out, this lil town is protected by the Mt Tam and no breeze. Quick n pleasant service - plenty of indoor and outdoor seating..and during summer plenty of local bands performing.

We had an iced latte, hot black tea with milk, and split an avocado toast. All were great. Beautiful setting in the middle of Mill Valley.

Such a darling little cafe and small bookshop in the heart of downtown Mill Valley. The menu is small, but I was able to veganize the mezze plate (no cheese), and they have so many delicious teas and speciality hot drinks. Decent amount of inside and outside seating. The selection of books is so great for such a small space, we usually find plenty that we have already read or want to read. It's especially charming over the holidays with the view of the beautiful Christmas tree outside in the courtyard. Looking forward to many more visits here!

The lunch I had here with my family from this restaurant was really good. The Mediterranean plate was amazing. The chicken was cooked with perfection. The rice and the hummus were delicious too. I highly recommend this place. The service was very nice and the overall ambiance was amazing as well . I give them 5 stars

We were on our way to Muir Beach and decided to stop in here for some coffee and pastries. A cafe and bookstore in one? I'm in! This place was lively on a Friday morning. Plenty of people sitting on the patio and in each of the two indoor areas. I got a white chocolate chip cookie and lavender latte. Both were delicious. I could see myself getting a book here one day and just spending an afternoon with a coffee and sweet treat. Definitely planning to come back!

Cute and cozy cafe in the downtown area. I visited on a Friday late morning and the wait was not long. You order at the counter and find a table to sit at. There's indoor and outdoor seating and the atmosphere was relaxed. People were enjoying their food and drinks, chatting, reading, and working on their laptops. I ordered an omelette and cortado and both were good. I like how there's a bookstore attached to the cafe so you can browse while you wait for your food. Overall, a great spot to take a break or hangout.

My best friend and I, went for a hike to cascade falls, sadly we could not find any "well it was there but no as we expected" so we walked all the way to downtown and we found this depot cafe book store, we grabbed breakfast, we order chai latte very creamy and you can taste the spices, but since I don't drink milk I was able to smell the spices and the avocado toast very refresh, no overwhelm in seasoning the slice of bread was deliciously crispy a really nice touch from the onion pickles! I got a cortado it was ok, smooth crema, not burn, but it taste a bit acidic probably made it with medium roast coffee I didn't taste much the almond milk but it was a good drink while eating the egg sandwich, the bread had the crispy crust and the softness in the inside, the aioli sauce OMG!!!! so amazing smooth in flavor, not to spicy, very nice balanced mix of flavor the onion pickles give it a nice tart taste to each bite between the egg and the sausage very nice filling sandwich. We will totally come back if we are around the area. Not too expensive tho!!! Very affordable, we sat outside it was a nice day to do that too dog friendly and the fun side is there is a book store too. Make sure when you finished eating to clean up behind yourself there are couple trays where you place all dirty dishes and trash cans for the dirty napkins

This place is conveniently in the center of town, as it was the old railway depot. With that said, the parking is a bit cramped on the weekends! Lots of full meter parking. We came by on a Saturday afternoon around 1:30PM. We had previously parked for a walk around town, and it took around 5-10 minutes of circling to park. The place seemed busy, and they have patio seating in the front(facing the street), and back(facing the plaza). We found some outdoor seating in the back so our pup can join us, and found thay most other tables has dogs too. It's a dog lovers heaven, but the tables and seats are quite close together. So, when we were trying to leave and a little chihuahua who had been inciting fights with all the dogs it walked past, it was tight finding an alternative route. Most other dogs were well behaved. I ordered a: - Apple and peanut butter French toast - $16 - star rating 3/5 - This sounded quite good on the menu, but I was shocked when the server was brought us our food. The French toast was a single toast for $16. This is the most expensive French toast I've ever had, as usually, it's 2 or more pieces. The flavor profile wasn't bad, the apples were sweet and the peanut butter wasn't too strong. A little soggy, but otherwise not too bad. Would've liked it to be a little more browned and crispy. - Match latte - - $6 - star rating- 3/5 It's a matcha latte on the less sweeter side. Not much to it other than matching bad milk. Not the best I've had, not the worst, just basic. Overall, it was a good experience. They have water cups you can fill yourself. It was a really nice day to sit outside and eat. Nonetheless, still shock the French toast was so small.

Bustling cafe with an expansive outdoor space welcoming families, couples, children and pets in the middle of downtown on a bustling Sunday afternoon. Indoor seating was available, nestled alongside a small curated bookstore! Brunch options were reasonably priced and well presented and the hand crafted coffee hit the spot!

I went here with my girlfriend for a light dinner. The Chai, Mint Tea, and Mezze Plate were superb. It is an excellent location with a cozy atmosphere and lovely aesthetic. A great place for a quick coffee or a casual meal. However, the star of the evening was Mike, our server. He overheard that I was vegan and had ordered a non-vegan dish. Instead of saying nothing, he not only warned me about the non-vegan ingredients, but had the kitchen prepare separate plates for me and my non-vegan girlfriend. It was the kind of hospitality that turns a simple meal into a lovely night out. I felt listened to and cared for. The Depot is lucky to have Mike!

Super cute bookstore inside the coffee shop. Small but mighty! They have the newest books, local nature books, journals, gifts, CA souvenirs and an entire corner is dedicated to kids books, activity kits and plushies. There's a bathroom in the back, but there's also two additional ones on the other side. I didn't go to the coffee shop side but the menu looked delicious.

This is a wonderful place for coffee in a big mug or a glass of wine in the heart of downtown Mill Valley. I'm so glad they reopened after being closed for a while. It's centrally located downtown, it feels like the Grand Central Station of Mill Valley with all sorts of people congregating on the outside patio especially when the weather is nice and there is live music. The location is also easy for hiking since many staircases are nearby for an urban hike in Mill Valley. It's a few blocks away to the Bernard Steps (#50) and the Madrona Steps (#49) and about a mile walk for the Cascade Waterfall.

It's sad because Book Passage has fantastic events, classes, speakers, and more. But the employees are SO useless and act like you're inconveniencing them when you ask for help to find things you'd like to buy. On my visit yesterday, I was shopping for some gifts for my former students and their parents (in SoCal). Naturally, this gift was to be special and I wanted to find the perfect thing for them. When I asked the woman (not sure of her name, but she has red hair in a long bob) where NorCal specific items were, she half motioned with her hand and said it was in the other building. When I went back to ask another question, she stared at me and then walked off. Another employee begrudgingly helped me. The two women working in the other building were deep in personal convo and looked SO annoyed when I asked about the gift items area. When I was rung up, there was no "thanks" or "have a good day", just silence. Wow, these ladies are so rude and such a buzzkill!! I debated leaving a review, but after I came to check other patrons experiences, I see this is their M.O and it should be a good warning to all that shop here.
