Butter Chicken (10 oz) and potatoes
    Jillian S.

This place is so good! I had it for the first time last week and I've been thinking about their food constantly. I got the butter chicken with potatoes (I forgot the name of the dish) and some raita on the side. The chicken was tender and well cooked and the seasonings were so yummy. I can't wait to eat here again!

Been wanting to try this place for months . Finally came and oh wow! Fresh, authentic and delicious! I ordered the bowl with butter chicken, white rice , and Aloo. INCREDIBLE!! definitely coming back again! The service was excellent, the place is small but plenty of seating! Highly recommend !!!

Been coming here for years. The customer service has gotten a LOT better. The owners seem very communicative and welcoming. They answer all the questions we asked. They could use some different varieties once in awhile and change up the menu. The prices are still okay--reasonable for the portion, location, and overhead. Hope it doesn't go up!

I forgot to take a photo of my veggie bowl to go but it was stuffed to the brim and delicious! You definitely get bang for your buck here. I loved that they use Le Creuset pots for their hot food. It's professional and clean and gives the homemade character. Space wise, they also have a fridge of drinks as well as some table seating inside.

visited bollywood zaika friday night bc well tbh, i was over the wk and i didnt feel like cooking this was recommended to us by a friend the aroma coming out of this restaurant was insane i was literally salivating , i was so hungry my level of knowledge for indian cuisine is not very good. i just know the basics. their menu is extensive and can be overwhelming but the gentleman working was helpful! i ordered a plate, it was great bc you can customize your order from plate/wrap/bowl the plate: Served with rice or greens Choose ONE/TWO Mains, TWO Sides & condiments i got two mains: butter chicken and chicken kebab curry with rice. my two sides were dal and jeera aloo alright, this plate was sooo good! BUT i can not handle spicy, so i had to take breaks eating this also, the dal..wayyyyy to spicy for me. i will double on the jeera aloo next time, if i can i def prefer the chicken kebab curry, i love yellow curry! i also order an order of garlic naan and an order of spinach and cheese samosa, but so good service was great and helpful parking: located in king harbor plaza. huge lot, no issues. located across from carl's jr

First visit. Blown away. Ranking at the top of my list of favorite Indian places in LA. And I've been to at least a dozen. Butter chicken and curry were on point as was the paneer and daily special for today eggplant dish. Sauces were thick and perfectly savory. Lady over the counter let me sample and also gave me a sev-poori to try. It's a cold sweet dish. They have other specialties I've never seen at other restaurants. I will definitely need to try all of them!

We got the mild spicy chicken momos and the medium spicy chickpea curry (channa masala). If I could redo it, I'd probably switch the spice levels, go medium on the momos and mild on the chickpeas. The curry had a real kick, and I think milder would pair better with rice for smoother sailing. Overall, the food met our expectations. Interestingly, the momos actually tasted better the second day, the sauce felt more balanced after sitting overnight. We'd order from them again. Not a top-tier, must-save spot, but solid and dependable. My only real complaint is the garlic naan, $4.50 for about 1.5 smaller pieces felt skimpy. At that price, two full pieces would feel more reasonable. Naan is kind of foundational, like an Italian restaurant being stingy with bread. It just leaves a slightly off first impression.

For drinks I had the cucumber mint lemonade. It's their newest drink. So delicious! It's cold, refreshing, and delivers a burst of flavor in your mouth. A must try! For food I had the chicken tikka masala (mild), half rice, and garlic naan. They also give you a small side salad. The garlic naan was the best I've ever had. So moist and not burnt like a lot of other places. You can easily pull it apart with your fingers as it screams, "eat me! eat me!", with delight. The chicken tikka masala's flavor was amazing! I like to try things mild first to see how they taste. Some places serve bland food and mask it with spiciness. Not here. The flavor is all there. Next time I think I'm going to adventure on the wild side and try the medium and then possibly the spicy. The included salad was simple yet so satisfying. The dressing is definitely unique and packs a punch with the spice level but... I like it. *wink* *wink* hahhaa. The rice was perfection. I hate it when it's not cooked enough and too mushy or overcooked and hard. Originally I was going to eat half tonight and then the other half tomorrow but... I know myself. I would just go to bed, wake up in the middle of the night thinking about it, then not be able to go back to sleep until I finished the rest because it would keep calling my name from the kitchen. Hahahaha. I didnt get to see the inside because I got it to go but I'll let you guys know in an update. The staff there is great and they seem like a very nice family. As I've always said, I'm a huge supporter of family businesses. I'm soooo happy I gave this place a shot. I am not only coming back, I'm definitely going to have them cater some of my parties. Enjoy!

They're thick, they're flavorful, they hit you with the right spice. Normal spice is a white man's medium high so they got their base down which is more than half the battle. They cook the Paneer just right. And really enjoyed the Bartha! That The not so good: the chicken is way overcooked, I don't know if it's breast or thigh, but it definitely tasted like a dried out breast. Possibly using the tandoori and just dropping it into the gravy, but a perfectly cooked chicken thigh would take the chicken tikka masala to the moon. Second, the Paneer portion size was a joke. Maybe six cubes in the whole deal. Needs to be at least double. I'm ready to try again you gotta protect your meats!

I dropped by on a Saturday afternoon, where a few other patrons were already dining. The seating has around 6 or so tables inside that can fit around 4 each, and they also have high chairs for children! I ordered a number 17, which is the gyro, and got a side of hummus and pita then found a table to sit at. I had just finished buckling my child into the high chair when my order was delivered to my table! They are super fast here! The super friendly waiter delivered my meal, and I dug in. The gyro was stuffed with meat! This is a huge deal, since a lot of places skimp and don't give enough. So extra points to Al Hamra for a job well done. The flavor of the meat was juicy and well seasoned, super delish! The hummus and pita was good, although I usually add a bit of spices to my hummus so this one was a little plainer than I'm used to. Either way, it was a nice addition to the meal. The grand finale were the desserts! I usually go for baklava, but decided to try the knafeh, a layered cheese dessert with syrup and pistachios. Get the knafeh! The warm cheese and syrup were so delicious and made for the perfect ending to a good meal! I will definitely be back, the food was super tasty, and the people working there were friendly and helpful. Thanks for the happiness, Al Hamra!

The menu also features traditional Pakistani, Persian, and Arabic dishes, such as Beef Nihari and Haleem. After several visits, here are my thoughts on some of their grilled meats and desserts. Beef Kofta - 3/5. The kofta was a bit dry and tough. I wish it had more fat and seasoning to make it juicier and more flavorful. The grilling is also somewhat inconsistent--sometimes the kofta comes out beautifully browned, while other times it's over-charred. Grilled Fish - 4/5. This is easily my favorite item on the menu and, in my opinion, their best dish. The fish is seasoned just enough to enhance its natural flavor without overpowering it. It's grilled very well, developing a beautiful golden-brown crust while remaining moist and tender inside. Beef Shish Kebab - 3.5/5. The quality of the beef is decent, especially considering the price. Given the cut of meat they use, they've done a commendable job with the grilling. The beef has a solid seasoning base and a nice sear with just enough char to add flavor without becoming overly smoky. It's reasonably tender, though I wish it retained a bit more juiciness. Chicken Shish Kebab - 3.5/5. Very similar to the beef shish kebab. It has good flavor and is grilled well, but it could benefit from being a little juicier. Gyro - 2/5. Unfortunately, this was the biggest disappointment. The gyro meat on the vertical spit often appears to be rotating without enough heat to properly caramelize and crisp the exterior. As a result, the meat comes across as dry, rubbery, and lacking the rich roasted flavor that makes a great gyro. Kunafa (Knafeh) - 3/5. This dessert has both strengths and weaknesses. The cheese filling has a pleasant, slightly salty flavor and a creamy texture, and I appreciate that it isn't overly sweet. However, the syrup is underwhelming. A good kunafa should be generously coated with a fragrant sugar syrup - ideally infused with rose water or orange blossom water - to provide sweetness and aroma. I also wish the kataifi, the shredded pastry dough, were crispier and lighter to create a better contrast with the gooey cheese filling. Overall, Al Hamra Kabob Grill is one of the better places to enjoy Middle Eastern-style grilled dishes in the South Bay. While a few menu items could be improved, the grilled fish stands out as excellent, and the shish kebabs are solid choices. The owner is also incredibly friendly and welcoming, creating a warm, neighborhood atmosphere that keeps customers coming back. It's not perfect, but it's a restaurant I enjoy visiting from time to time and one I'd recommend if you're craving grilled Middle Eastern flavors.
