Butter Chicken (10 oz) and potatoes
    Jillian S.

This place is so good! I had it for the first time last week and I've been thinking about their food constantly. I got the butter chicken with potatoes (I forgot the name of the dish) and some raita on the side. The chicken was tender and well cooked and the seasonings were so yummy. I can't wait to eat here again!

Been wanting to try this place for months . Finally came and oh wow! Fresh, authentic and delicious! I ordered the bowl with butter chicken, white rice , and Aloo. INCREDIBLE!! definitely coming back again! The service was excellent, the place is small but plenty of seating! Highly recommend !!!

Been coming here for years. The customer service has gotten a LOT better. The owners seem very communicative and welcoming. They answer all the questions we asked. They could use some different varieties once in awhile and change up the menu. The prices are still okay--reasonable for the portion, location, and overhead. Hope it doesn't go up!

I forgot to take a photo of my veggie bowl to go but it was stuffed to the brim and delicious! You definitely get bang for your buck here. I loved that they use Le Creuset pots for their hot food. It's professional and clean and gives the homemade character. Space wise, they also have a fridge of drinks as well as some table seating inside.

visited bollywood zaika friday night bc well tbh, i was over the wk and i didnt feel like cooking this was recommended to us by a friend the aroma coming out of this restaurant was insane i was literally salivating , i was so hungry my level of knowledge for indian cuisine is not very good. i just know the basics. their menu is extensive and can be overwhelming but the gentleman working was helpful! i ordered a plate, it was great bc you can customize your order from plate/wrap/bowl the plate: Served with rice or greens Choose ONE/TWO Mains, TWO Sides & condiments i got two mains: butter chicken and chicken kebab curry with rice. my two sides were dal and jeera aloo alright, this plate was sooo good! BUT i can not handle spicy, so i had to take breaks eating this also, the dal..wayyyyy to spicy for me. i will double on the jeera aloo next time, if i can i def prefer the chicken kebab curry, i love yellow curry! i also order an order of garlic naan and an order of spinach and cheese samosa, but so good service was great and helpful parking: located in king harbor plaza. huge lot, no issues. located across from carl's jr

First visit. Blown away. Ranking at the top of my list of favorite Indian places in LA. And I've been to at least a dozen. Butter chicken and curry were on point as was the paneer and daily special for today eggplant dish. Sauces were thick and perfectly savory. Lady over the counter let me sample and also gave me a sev-poori to try. It's a cold sweet dish. They have other specialties I've never seen at other restaurants. I will definitely need to try all of them!

The food is delicious! This is a cafe-style Indian restaurant. The food is available at the counter in large pots, so the spice level is set at mild (the tiniest hint of spice), but then you can add sauces on top for more heat (or cool) at no additional cost -- including chili, tamarind chutney, mint chutney, and raita. Very well-seasoned, rich and creamy flavors. The chana masala, butter chicken, and daily special eggplant were standouts. The plate and bowl combos are reasonably priced. The "plate" (with two entrees and two sides) is about 50% more food than the "bowl" (with one entree and one side). There is a restroom in the back of the kitchen. Several tables to eat inside, and eat-in orders are served in plastic take-away containers, so you're already set if you don't finish everything. The restaurant interior is clean, modern, and feels like a cafe.

We got the mild spicy chicken momos and the medium spicy chickpea curry (channa masala). If I could redo it, I'd probably switch the spice levels, go medium on the momos and mild on the chickpeas. The curry had a real kick, and I think milder would pair better with rice for smoother sailing. Overall, the food met our expectations. Interestingly, the momos actually tasted better the second day, the sauce felt more balanced after sitting overnight. We'd order from them again. Not a top-tier, must-save spot, but solid and dependable. My only real complaint is the garlic naan, $4.50 for about 1.5 smaller pieces felt skimpy. At that price, two full pieces would feel more reasonable. Naan is kind of foundational, like an Italian restaurant being stingy with bread. It just leaves a slightly off first impression.

For food I had the chicken tikka masala (mild), half rice, and garlic naan. They also give you a small side salad. The garlic naan was the best I've ever had. So moist and not burnt like a lot of other places. You can easily pull it apart with your fingers as it screams, "eat me! eat me!", with delight. The chicken tikka masala's flavor was amazing! I like to try things mild first to see how they taste. Some places serve bland food and mask it with spiciness. Not here. The flavor is all there. Next time I think I'm going to adventure on the wild side and try the medium and then possibly the spicy. The included salad was simple yet so satisfying. The dressing is definitely unique and packs a punch with the spice level but... I like it. *wink* *wink* hahhaa. The rice was perfection. I hate it when it's not cooked enough and too mushy or overcooked and hard. Originally I was going to eat half tonight and then the other half tomorrow but... I know myself. I would just go to bed, wake up in the middle of the night thinking about it, then not be able to go back to sleep until I finished the rest because it would keep calling my name from the kitchen. Hahahaha. I didnt get to see the inside because I got it to go but I'll let you guys know in an update. The staff there is great and they seem like a very nice family. As I've always said, I'm a huge supporter of family businesses. I'm soooo happy I gave this place a shot. I am not only coming back, I'm definitely going to have them cater some of my parties. The lighting is warm and intentional, creating an intimate, upscale vibe without feeling pretentious. Whether you're on a romantic date or just catching up with friends, the beautiful interior design--complete with subtle traditional accents and modern elegance--sets the perfect stage for a memorable meal. For dinner I kept it classic with the Aloo Gobi and Basmati Rice, and it was executed to perfection. The cauliflower was tender yet retained a slight crunch, and the potatoes were buttery soft. The rice was incredible fragrant, fluffy, and served in a generous portion. It was the ideal canvas for the rich flavors of the Gobi. The service was impeccable--attentive but never hovering. Banana Leaf Restaurant in Los Angeles delivers an experience that feels both expansive and…read moreassured--an establishment that understands its culinary roots and presents them with clarity rather than excess. The meal opened with Rooh Afza falooda and a mango lassi, each thoughtfully composed. The falooda was aromatic and layered without being cloying, while the mango lassi struck an ideal balance between fruit, dairy, and sweetness--refreshing and composed, not dessert-heavy. The transition to savory dishes was seamless. Pani puri arrived crisp and well-structured, with a pleasantly sharp, clean pani that avoided overpowering acidity. The chicken 65 followed--crisp on the exterior, tender within, and seasoned with confidence. The spice was assertive but controlled, allowing the dish's texture and flavor to remain the focus. For the mains, both the mutton biryani and chicken biryani were commendable. The rice was aromatic and distinct, the proteins well integrated rather than buried beneath spice. Each biryani stood on its own, demonstrating careful layering rather than relying on heat alone. The standout of the meal was undeniably the lamb vindaloo. Rich, deeply spiced, and unapologetically bold, it delivered complexity without heaviness. Paired with soft, well-cooked naan, it was the most memorable dish on the table and a clear indicator of the kitchen's strength with traditional preparations. The meal concluded with two varieties of dosa, both expertly executed--crisp, light, and evenly cooked, served with flavorful chutneys and sambar that complemented rather than distracted. While the service was a little slow, it felt more reflective of the care taken in preparing each dish rather than inattentiveness. The pacing ultimately allowed us to enjoy the meal without feeling rushed. Banana Leaf succeeds not by spectacle, but by consistency, authenticity, and technical precision. For diners seeking serious South Indian cooking with depth and integrity, this restaurant stands out as a reliable and rewarding choice in LA.
