I've been wanted to try this place out for a while now after seeing the reviews. I came in for a to-go order for dinner and just got one plate. There are a few tables and seating inside and you just order at the counter. My food came out really quickly, like less than 5 minutes and the workers were all very nice. I got the chicken shawarma plate which came with pita bread, hummus, a salad, and rice. The portion size was good with a lot of meat however the meat and rice together was a bit dry. It came with one garlic sauce and a spicy sauce which were both a little overpowering so I didn't use too much of them. I wish there was like a yogurt garlic white sauce or something. The pita and salad were good but honestly not the best I've had. I think the reviews are a little overrated.

Stopped by and had to try their grilled fish plate. Not only was it above and beyond what I imagined, it completely satiated my appetite. The fish simply melted with the rice and the salad was a great compliment to the palette. Great fast service and always accommodating!

2 Saturday's in row I've came back. Sorry not sorry this place is delicious and homey. I got the kabob combo again & the grilled fish. The cashier remembered me to personalable and friendly service and gave me more solid recommendations.

tried the beef shawarma at Al Hamra, and it did not disappoint.

tried the beef shawarma at Al Hamra, and it did not disappoint. The meat was tender, perfectly seasoned, and wrapped in soft, warm pita that held everything together without getting soggy. But what really took it to the next level was the garlic sauce and hot sauce combo--creamy, garlicky goodness with just the right amount of heat. The balance of flavors was spot-on: bold without overpowering the meat, and spicy enough to keep each bite exciting. If you're a fan of shawarma (or just good food in general), Al Hamra is worth the trip. I'll definitely be coming back for another round.

Delicious! I got the gyro sandwich and French fries which was delicious and very affordable. The fries were slightly undersalted but still very good. The service was impeccable!! The staff were super nice and welcoming and helpful and attentive. The restaurant is clean.

I got the lamb gyro wrap with 1 side (salad with dressing in the side for $12.99), as that is the thing they identified at not having garlic. It was excellent and they were so sweet and accommodating with my allergy. Also, their tzatziki sauce does not have garlic either... double bonus!!! Staff is so kind and generous too and gave ya extra pita, you really feel like you're at a family dinner. I also got a tabbouleh for the road too and can't wait to eat that later.

The lighting is warm and intentional, creating an intimate, upscale vibe without feeling pretentious. Whether you're on a romantic date or just catching up with friends, the beautiful interior design--complete with subtle traditional accents and modern elegance--sets the perfect stage for a memorable meal. For dinner I kept it classic with the Aloo Gobi and Basmati Rice, and it was executed to perfection. The cauliflower was tender yet retained a slight crunch, and the potatoes were buttery soft. The rice was incredible fragrant, fluffy, and served in a generous portion. It was the ideal canvas for the rich flavors of the Gobi. The service was impeccable--attentive but never hovering. It's rare to find a spot where the visual beauty of the space matches the quality of the kitchen, but this place nails it. I'll definitely be returning to explore more of the menu soon! I recommend Banana Leaf!

Banana Leaf Restaurant in Los Angeles delivers an experience that feels both expansive and…read moreassured--an establishment that understands its culinary roots and presents them with clarity rather than excess. The meal opened with Rooh Afza falooda and a mango lassi, each thoughtfully composed. The falooda was aromatic and layered without being cloying, while the mango lassi struck an ideal balance between fruit, dairy, and sweetness--refreshing and composed, not dessert-heavy. The transition to savory dishes was seamless. Pani puri arrived crisp and well-structured, with a pleasantly sharp, clean pani that avoided overpowering acidity. The chicken 65 followed--crisp on the exterior, tender within, and seasoned with confidence. The spice was assertive but controlled, allowing the dish's texture and flavor to remain the focus. For the mains, both the mutton biryani and chicken biryani were commendable. The rice was aromatic and distinct, the proteins well integrated rather than buried beneath spice. Each biryani stood on its own, demonstrating careful layering rather than relying on heat alone. The standout of the meal was undeniably the lamb vindaloo. Rich, deeply spiced, and unapologetically bold, it delivered complexity without heaviness. Paired with soft, well-cooked naan, it was the most memorable dish on the table and a clear indicator of the kitchen's strength with traditional preparations. The meal concluded with two varieties of dosa, both expertly executed--crisp, light, and evenly cooked, served with flavorful chutneys and sambar that complemented rather than distracted. While the service was a little slow, it felt more reflective of the care taken in preparing each dish rather than inattentiveness. The pacing ultimately allowed us to enjoy the meal without feeling rushed. Banana Leaf succeeds not by spectacle, but by consistency, authenticity, and technical precision. For diners seeking serious South Indian cooking with depth and integrity, this restaurant stands out as a reliable and rewarding choice in LA.

Everything from the flavor to the experience just feels a step above. The (always-vegan) broth is rich and well-balanced, and you can really tell the focus is on quality. One thing I really appreciate is how accommodating they are with customizations. I usually ask for my ramen without nori (seaweed) and skip the egg, and they get it right every time. It might seem like a small detail, but it makes a huge difference not having to send anything back. The atmosphere is also a big plus. It's cozy and inviting, perfect for sitting down and enjoying a warm bowl of ramen. The first time we went it was pretty busy, but it still felt comfortable. The second time, we went earlier in the day and it was quieter, which made the experience even better. At this point, anytime I'm craving ramen, this is where we go. Consistently delicious, customizable, and a great overall vibe; definitely our go-to ramen spot now.

The beef shawarma was so tender and the flavors had so much complexity to it. The chicken didn't quite pack the same flavor punch but the chicken was tender and juicy and you could taste all the different seasonings. I ended up getting the chicken shawarma plate on rice and it did not disappoint. Already mentioned the chicken but the rice is also very flavorful. Has a rich almost buttery flavor. It complements the chicken well. The pita is thin and not the typical fluffy pita bread you might think of. I do wish there was a little more of it but that's a minor complaint. The garlic sauce packs a punch and the red sauce is a spicy and tangy flavor. The hummus is very light and maybe because everything else was so flavor forward, this was a little bland in comparison. The people were really nice and friendly and for less than $20 to get a really tasty meal plus a drink is rare. I will definitely come back.

For drinks I had the cucumber mint lemonade. It's their newest drink. So delicious! It's cold, refreshing, and delivers a burst of flavor in your mouth. A must try! For food I had the chicken tikka masala (mild), half rice, and garlic naan. They also give you a small side salad. The garlic naan was the best I've ever had. So moist and not burnt like a lot of other places. You can easily pull it apart with your fingers as it screams, "eat me! eat me!", with delight. The chicken tikka masala's flavor was amazing! I like to try things mild first to see how they taste. Some places serve bland food and mask it with spiciness. Not here. The flavor is all there. Next time I think I'm going to adventure on the wild side and try the medium and then possibly the spicy. The included salad was simple yet so satisfying. The dressing is definitely unique and packs a punch with the spice level but... I like it. *wink* *wink* hahhaa. The rice was perfection. I hate it when it's not cooked enough and too mushy or overcooked and hard. Originally I was going to eat half tonight and then the other half tomorrow but... I know myself.
