The quality of the the tandoor was the same as I remember it, but the taste was not. It tasted much better before, which had a sweet and tanginess to it, and I couldn't get enough of the sauce with the onions and bell peppers. That being said, it still tasted good. read more

To start off, the service was outstanding. Upon arrival, the person who greeted me had one of the warmest and most welcoming tones and smiles I've encountered in a while. I also called, and they answered my questions respectfully and what I felt was honestly. This place is just far too steep in cost for my taste. The food tasted great! But I can't feel good paying almost $30 (including tax) for what is shown in the attached picture. Butter chicken for $18 I feel should at least come with some rice at that portion size and cost point. One of the questions I asked when I called was about the portion sizes. When I ordered, I looked at pictures from just 3 months ago. It looked like the Butter Chicken was served in a large circular bowl, similar to what I'd get from other Indian Cuisine places. Omg go for the 2 for 1 ribs night or taco Tuesday. The ribs were fantastic and I am pretty coy. I only have a handful of places I go for bbq in all of LA and OC and this is my newest place. I found this restaurant because my parents were requesting it. It is near their house. They have been to several Indian restaurants in South Bay and said that this one is better than the rest. It is a tiny place in a strip mall and those places usually wind up being the best. From the moment I walked in the door, the smells were intoxicatingly delicious! Although I was there for carry out, I swore to myself that I will return someday soon for the AYCE buffet, so I can try a lot of different dishes. Our family loves Indian food, so for our daughter's birthday we had butter chicken and lamb korma catered for a small family celebration. Have to say that it was one of the best if not the best tasting prepared meals we've had in a very long time. Raj handled the preparation and helped pack the trays in our car. Even shared a little bit about how he has family living in the Philippines (we ourselves are Filipino). Our party was about 15 people, so we ordered a medium tray of butter chicken and a small tray of lamb korma. Of course had to order garlic naan for dipping into the flavorful dish sauces. A tray of rice to complete the meal and no one at the party was disappointed. We were first introduced to Indian cuisine years ago at a friend's party and absolutely fell in love with our first bite of butter chicken. Since then, we probably have tried many versions from different restaurants from all over. Utsav brought us back to what made us huge fans of the cuisine to begin with. Food was good, service is not the best. Ordered the wrong item because my friend doesn't understand the language. Which is ok, if they wanted to say they can't swap it out. A tandoori cheese curd the same price as the chicken that is fine we can accept it. However they made sure to let us know it's our fault, I responded with I understand it's our fault but my friend thought he was ordering chicken bbq not cheese squares, I told the manager I would rather not deal with the drama and not come back to which he replied we don't care if you come back or not. I'm not sure if the owners changed the people before were nice but also understanding. The food is good but to get Indian food right it's not rocket science so I'd rather take my business somewhere else. Your local google search will bring up enough restaurants to the point where these guys who have so much business the don't care about the customer, id rather not. I live in pv so it's close we all know going down the hill can be a nuisance but even the street to get back home gets packed (rolling hills road) but I would rather go to another spot on pch not to far away then come here. read more

Great neighborhood restaurant. Smaller buffet but the quality is there. Smaller and very clean dining area but can accomodate a work group, family or a group of friends. Like naan which is usually served tableside, so is the rice. Also, I've never seen Butter Chicken, one of my fave Indian dishes at a buffet. The food and service is excellent. We tried Utsav on a whim, and we are so happy that we did! I've been searching for delicious restaurants in the area, and had yet to find an Indian restaurant we loved. Well, look no further! I'm telling you, Utsav is it. Of course we ordered the usuals--Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Dal Makhani, Raita, Roti, and Garlic Naan. Everything was delicious and had all the right flavors, spices, and heat level. My favorite of the bunch was definitely the Butter Chicken, although I did like the additional vegetables in the Tikka Masala as well. The raita paired nicely with the curries and I really enjoyed dipping the garlic naan and roti in the thick sauces. I would absolutely order from Utsav again. Tried the buffet at Utsav for the first time the other day and I was so impressed with the food and the service! Not many Indian buffets serve Butter Chicken but Utsav does and it is DELICIOUS. They also bring out fresh basmati rice and fresh buttered naan to your table. Sooooo good. The samosas are very flavorful and I tried a new dish called Malai Kofta I think? There were these super delicious, flavorful fried balls in a rich, creamy curry sauce. SO DELICIOUS! I want to go back just for that curry alone. I didn't get a chance to try the tandoori chicken but I plan on it the next time I visit. I'm so happy to have tried this place it's excellent! Their chicken tikka masala and their naan bread were delicious! A little pricier than I expected but I think the best bang for your buck is their lunch buffet. I haven't tried it yet but plan to in the next few weeks. I've lived in PV for decades so I witnessed a lot of businesses come and go in this plaza. It is one of the more "empty" plazas and I always wish they could incorporate more. I am happy to see this restaurant being embedded there and doing well. Came here for lunch on a Sunday Had the lunch buffet which consisted of lamb curry, saag. Vegetable jalfreezi, butter chicken, matar paneer, tandoori chicken, chana masala, and papad. The tandoori chicken was flavorful and not dry or too salty. Haven't seen papad at a lot of Indian buffet but it's crispy texture was tasty and fun to eat. The butter chicken sauce is a little bit on the lighter side while the vegetarian curries for me had more flavor. Lunch buffets Mon-Fri are 12.95 and on weekends 14.95. Was craving Indian food the other night and decided to go someplace local. Unfortunately, the experience was not good. The food was so-so, but the service was horrendous. We ordered the rice and didn't get the rice until after we were almost finished with our food. Then when we are ready to leave the server, decided to hang out in the kitchen for a good 10 minutes. We ordered from DoorDash and loved the food. The Malai Kofta was my favorite--the sauce that the dumplings are in is just so rich and flavorful. The chicken tikka masala was great too--love the way the chicken had been cooked and seasoned. Highly recommend getting some garlic naan and veggie samosas. We also really appreciated how carefully our food had been packaged up--the food was still piping hot when it arrived, and none of it had spilled because of how carefully they had wrapped everything.
