YUMMM!!! What a great way to end the work week! It's been an insane week at work. I always pass by this place on the way home. Tonight I gave it a try for the first time. Score! For drinks I had the cucumber mint lemonade. It's their newest drink. So delicious! It's cold, refreshing, and delivers a burst of flavor in your mouth. A must try! For food I had the chicken tikka masala (mild), half rice, and garlic naan. They also give you a small side salad. The garlic naan was the best I've ever had. So moist and not burnt like a lot of other places. You can easily pull it apart with your fingers as it screams, "eat me! eat me!", with delight. The chicken tikka masala's flavor was amazing! I like to try things mild first to see how they taste. Some places serve bland food and mask it with spiciness. Not here. The flavor is all there. Next time I think I'm going to adventure on the wild side and try the medium and then possibly the spicy. The included salad was simple yet so satisfying. The dressing is definitely unique and packs a punch with the spice level but... I like it. *wink* *wink* hahhaa. The rice was perfection. I hate it when it's not cooked enough and too mushy or overcooked and hard. Originally I was going to eat half tonight and then the other half tomorrow but... I know myself. I would just go to bed, wake up in the middle of the night thinking about it, then not be able to go back to sleep until I finished the rest because it would keep calling my name from the kitchen. Hahahaha. I didnt get to see the inside because I got it to go but I'll let you guys know in an update. The staff there is great and they seem like a very nice family. As I've always said, I'm a huge supporter of family businesses. I'm soooo happy I gave this place a shot. I am not only coming back, I'm definitely going to have them cater some of my parties. Al-Noor could so easily be a 5, you hate to see it, but hopefully they can turn a couple moves in the kitchen and reach stardom. I'll start with the good: all the curries are fantastic. They're thick, they're flavorful, they hit you with the right spice. Normal spice is a white man's medium high so they got their base down which is more than half the battle. They cook the Paneer just right. And really enjoyed the Bartha! That The not so good: the chicken is way overcooked, I don't know if it's breast or thigh, but it definitely tasted like a dried out breast. Possibly using the tandoori and just dropping it into the gravy, but a perfectly cooked chicken thigh would take the chicken tikka masala to the moon. Second, the Paneer portion size was a joke. Maybe six cubes in the whole deal. Needs to be at least double. I'm ready to try again you gotta protect your meats! read more

Call the restaurant before ordering through UberEats to make sure they put boneless white meat chicken in their Chicken Biryani and Chicken Talat Ghosht and the owner or the manager said YES they do but maybe he didn't understand me or something because I received both items with bone in dark meat chicken and on top of that the dishes didn't taste good either! When I called the restaurant back, the owner said he wasn't the one I talked to and nobody knew who I talked to earlier so I'm just gonna leave it at that !!! I've been meaning to go this restaurant since I read Jonathan Gold's original review and hearing from another foodie that their naan was perfect. The restaurant looks like a run down middle school cafeteria without the steam trays. Cold white lighting. The service was friendly but getting refills took too long. I've not been in a sit down restaurant in years that won't give tap water. They lost a star for this. As for the food. We ordered the tandoori mix sizzling plate and chicken tikka masala, and a couple of naan (plain and garlic). The sizzling plate was a big miss. The tandoori chicken was leathery. The beef items were dry and crumbly. The chicken in the tikka masala was mediocre. The curry sauce was tasty. The naan was light had a nice texture. The garlic naan was disappointing because it didn't taste of garlic. If I ever mind myself at this place, I'd probably try the butter naan. Bottom line, will I be returning of my own accord? No. Would I refuse to go if someone wanted to go? Also no. The place has Johnathon Gold's review on their menu, however, I'm not sure if Gold would write the same review today on that s place. If I were to give a 0 of 5 I would. The First Lady that was in the register was extremely rude to me and ignored my questions wile she was to busy in her phone. When I tried to ask a question she immediately cut me off and assumed I didn't speak English and sent a Latina girl to help me out. The Latina girl was so helpful. But the service I received was absolutely terrible from the lady I first got helped I haven't even tried the food because I would rather get food from a place that is about serving the community not treating us like garbage. service upon seating was good. the man taking our order was patient in helping us make selections and deciding which spice level to get. however, we were not approached at all until we were finished and asked for 2 boxes to go. after asking, the same man came over 2 more times within the next 5 minutes to ask if we needed more boxes as we were already packed up and paying despite no more food laid out. the intention may have been good but found it a little odd. the mango lassi was delicious and very refreshing. although the samosas were smaller than expected, they were tasty and reasonable for the cost. we ordered 2 garlic naan which was perfect for the portion sizes. the chicken in both dishes were nice and tender too. although it was my first time trying the qorma which was good, my friend said it wasn't the best she had. i liked the chicken biryani but found it spicy for my preference (medium), and would probably choose a milder option next time. overall the portions were good and we were able to split this among two meals for both of us. read more

I dined at Al-Noor when a friend who enjoys Indian and Pakistani food as I was leaving on a flight from LAX. This place is close enough to the airport that it will now be an option when near there. The food was very flavorful. I even ordered two I items to take home after our meal to enjoy the following day. Prices are reasonable and portions are generous. Stopped by for a lunch break and the food was delicious! I got the Half Rice, Garlic Naan, Chicken Tikka Masala and Mango Lassi. The Tikka Masala had the right amount of spice. Garlic Naan is great to dip in the Tikka Masala. The rice was decent, I've had better rice elsewhere. The service was great and the ambiance had the family restaurant vibe, pretty chill. The tab went over $30+ which is pretty pricey but at the same time everything is going up. Overall: I would recommend this spot for Halal food and would come back whenever I'm in the area. read more

What a treasure Al Noor is! It's a small mom & pop shop which offers quality delicious food. I was a little worried we showed up too late as it was an hour before closing but I am happy to report that we did not feel rushed at all when ordering or dining in. We started with vegetable pakora which were crispy and flavorful. The mint chutney was not overpowering and really balanced out the tanginess of the other sauce which I'm not sure what it's called but it was tart and spicy (not too spicy). This time I wanted to try the Chicken Tala Gosht, spicy, under their special menu. The chicken was shredded so it really allowed more of the flavors to marinate in the meat. The Chicken Tikka Masala, mild, is something we alway order and it never disappoints. Perfectly complemented with the Garlic Naan and Biriyani. Not pictured but we also had chicken biriyani and kheer rice pudding. It sounds like they sold out of the kheer for the day but they make have been making a fresh batch for preparation the next day because the host explained to us that the pudding is normally served cold, but if we're still interested, we could try it hot/warm. He also mentioned that his mom would serve it warm so it's equally as enjoyable in different temperatures. When it was brought out, we were instructed to stir well. I'm sure the consistency is thicker once it's refrigerated but it reminded me of champurado. The rice was creamy and smooth. Surprisingly there were no nuts but I did find a cardamom pod. You know when someone can't sleep and they drink warm milk to help? I would rather have this. It was so flavorful! I think it was such a treat and it felt like we got an item from a secret menu. A solid place to order to-go from when craving Pakistani/Indian food. I've tried their food both in person & to go & food tastes pretty much the same but it's always more comfortable & convenient to eat in the comfort of home. We also noticed portions might be bigger to go, but until recently things might have changed bc the curry container seemed a little smaller. We usually get the chicken tikka masala, tala gosht, garlic naan (not super garlicky, so if you wanna save your penny just get plain), chicken jal farezi, & chicken karahi. The mango lassi is also good but kind of pricey (other places still w/ $4-5), so only as a treat occasionally. The dishes don't come w/ rice so we usually also order the plain rice & garlic naan. We've ordered from them multiple times & I don't think any experience was bad. They wrap the food pretty good so there was never any bad spillage issues just occasional oil marks in the plastic bag, which is understandable. It's always a plus when they give us the sides for free hehe like the mango chutney, achar (very intense flavor), or mint cilantro sauce. My favorite is the mint sauce w/ the raw onions & cucumber (chef's kiss in refreshing your palate from all the oils). It's also more delicious if you spritz some lemon juice on it. The biggest thing that stops us from eating it often is that Indian food dishes are on the pricier side ($16-18) since they don't include rice & sometimes the meat to sauce ratio is far off or the meats aren't cut enough to feel like it justifies the price point. read more

I had been eagerly anticipating trying this place due to all the rave reviews, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a disappointment. I've only been here before to get their Naan bread. This time, I got garlic Naan, and it barely had any garlic flavor in them. The butter chicken, which only comes with white meat, was dry and tough. The butter sauce was overly rich, making me feel nauseous and upsetting my stomach. At $17, the portion was small and overpriced, especially if it didn't come with rice. That's another $6 to get rice! In comparison, Trader Joe's frozen butter chicken costs $5, offers more chicken, and tastes significantly better. We also ordered the Tandoori mix plate, which included chicken, sekh, and boti kebabs. It was a complete letdown as the meat and sesk kabobs were so hard that they seemed like reheated leftovers that had been overcooked in the microwave. The boti kabob, which is beef, was soggy. That entire plate just seems so off. The Mango Lassi was too creamy and didn't satisfy my taste buds as others I've tried have. I hope this was just an off day because the food didn't live up to the reviews I read, though those reviews were a few years old. Hidden gem Pakistani restaurant in SoCal. Saw this place was supposed to have the best Garlic Naan ever so had to check it out. Second you walk in you feel the relaxed casual atmosphere but at the same time excitement because you're in for something special. Was greeted by the owner upon walking in he was very friendly attentive. Everything from the Samosas to the Palak Paneer and Biryani were phenomenal. If you don't mind eating in a restaurant that looks like an old run down drug store you might find some of the most authentic neighborhood Indian food found in the greater Lawndale area. My guest was an Indian native and a gourmet cook herself and she was blown away with the true Indian-Pakistan dishes they served. It was excellent food and not pricey. The service was a little slow but they went out of their way to make it up to us with how friendly they were. Recommended if you have to have the real thing. read more

Al-Noor is one of those restaurants that never disappoints. The food is absolutely delicious. I especially love their okra, chicken tikka masala, and biryani rice; you really cannot go wrong with any of those dishes. They are always spot on and full of flavor. The ambience inside looks nice, but I feel like most of their traffic comes from takeout. Either way, the customer service is consistently excellent. The food is always ready when they say it will be, and they are very attentive with the way everything is packaged. A small but thoughtful detail is that when you go to pay, they often ask if you would like some water. It may seem simple, but it really shows a great level of care for their customers. Overall, I truly love this restaurant. Between the delicious food, the attentive service, and the thoughtful touches, it has become one of my favorites. If you have not tried Al-Noor yet, do not hesitate, it is absolutely worth it. read more
