Always nice, not crowded. Pay parking through app. Limited restaurants (approximately two), but never two crowded. Perfect waves for surfers. Not a lot of cart vendors selling umbrellas, hot dogs, boogie boards (only see one- ice cream cart). No stores around too. Low key, not overly crowded like Venice/ St Monica.

Great to be here for bin fires. Come at night, don't forget hoodies, blankets, sweat pants.

This was a very nice beach. There was no one charging parking fees. We found parking easily. The beach was clean. It was not crowded. There was showers, benches, fire pits and bathrooms nearby. There was two life guards on site. There's also a sidewalk to ride your bike, roller skates, skateboard, etc. Overall it was a very nice evening.

Not a beach person, but will come for the shorebirds! I can spend hours here watching and photographing all the shore birds, like Black Skimmer, Snowy Plover, even Gulls. There is a blocked off area designated for Snowy Plovers. Please leave them be so they can survive in peace. When I photograph them, I sit really far away and use my long lens. They are an endangered species so please kindly help them by simply keeping a safe distance.

We've been here many times and it's always pleasant. I believe the beach is free (if you're walking, running, biking, or skating, etc) but there's a fee for parking and camping. They are now a contactless station so no cash, only cards. Not sure if that also means venmo, cashapp, but probably not. Likely only cards. If you have a California State Parks veterans pass or one of the California State Park passes it's free. Nice :) There are bathrooms with flushable toilets and running water for washing your hands but no soap. Bring hand sanitizer. There are a couple of restaurants at the beach but I never catch them when they're open. I bring my own food anyway. There's fire pits if you're a grilling master and want to show off your skills. Or for s'mores. The sunsets are amazing. There's lifeguards on duty and I believe it's 3 miles long so it's a nice walk if you want to walk near the tide or on the sidewalk trail near parking. Don't forget to share the space as pedestrians, and bikers both use the sidewalk. Sometimes it's crowded, like during holidays. You might hear music and see people tossing around a football. Or see someone fishing, surfing, paddle boarding, or windsurfing. It's a very family friendly beach. If you have a group or large party you can reserve certain picnic areas (my daughter was in ASB in highschool and her school would do that for beach events). I plan on trying out the camping situation one day. I haven't camped at the beach before. I believe there's car camping and space for RV camping. Not sure if there's tent camping. Check the reservecalifornia website. Overall nice state beach in OC.

Visited the beach for the first time in many years along w/my daughter's high school marching band & color guard. We had a BLAST!! The group played many games in the water, we had an amazing array of food, the day was perfect but most importantly, we all bonded with one another. This beach was very clean, parking is within feet of the sand area so you do not have to walk far, restrooms and showers are very convenient and well maintained, beach employees were extremely friendly and helpful and the entire vibe here is positive and pleasant. This was the first time i felt was this relaxed in many, many years thanks to everything about our visit. will DEFINITELY return very soon. Two tips: 1-arrive early in order to secure a parking spot as this beach is very, very popular. The entry gates DO close when the parking is at capacity and only reopen when a select number of vehicles leave 2-when crossing the pedestrian/bike patch to use the restrooms, and/or return to your vehicle, PLEASE look in BOTH directions in order to avoid a collision w/bicyclists, scooters and/or skaters

It was my first time visiting this beach m. $20 parking per regular car. The bathrooms are clean and it wasn't super crowded cuz we went early. By the time we left, people were waiting to get a parking spot. We saw a group of dolphins nearby and the view was great under canopy shade.

Although it was challenging to get inside due to personnel not coordinating opening and closing gates, this beach is convenient, has a lot of fire rings, and better bathrooms than HB. There was a homeless person sleeping on the sand near us, but he eventually moved. If I was homeless, I'd choose the beach too. Overall, a good clean beach worth visiting.

I had a reservation in the overnight campground, but we went a day early and being a holiday weekend no fire pits available so I brought our solo stove out from the motorhome and we had a beautiful fire to watch the sunset... but didn't think ahead. The stove is going to be blistering hot with no way to move it when they close up so I said I'll come out first thing in the morning. It'll still be there! The pit was gone but big big appreciation to the state parks rep because the first one I talked to said "oh that looked really nice and I wanted to save it for whoever was gonna come back" and he presented it to me with with the ashes already dumped I wish I could remember his name to post it here but hats off to you, sir!!!

Great people here. A little noisy from PCH traffic, but love the people here. Overcast skies in am. Nice sunsets.

    Parking available

Went to meet my family here but when got there all entrances were locked . We waited for over 40 minutes until someone came and told us to leave because they're not opening the gates any time soon. My sister was in communication with me and there was still parking available and people . Which makes no sense to lock the gates.

Ask the Community - Bolsa Chica State Beach

What are my chances of arriving in the evening and getting a firepit in August?

If it's like Huntington, people claim the pits early morning when the parking lot opens.

Can u set up propane bbq grill on the sand?

Yes. Propane grills are allowed on the sand at Bolsa Chica SB as long as they are at least 18 inches above the ground.

Can I get food delivered here? Restaurants on beach aren't open until later in the month and trying to get door dash delivered but not sure if that's even possible

We do not allow outside food delivery services into the park for drop-off/pickup (unless they purchase a day-use parking pass). We highly encourage our guests to carry in their outside food.

How much is it to get in at the beach?

Our day use-parking fee is $15, which can be paid with card or cash. Prices are subject to change for holidays, special events, summer weekends, etc.

Are you allowed to bring a portable fire pit?

No, however we have 200 fire pits on our beach that are available on a first come, first served basis.

    Is it cash only?

    they take card aswell.

    Are the restrooms open /unlocked?

    Yes they are, ⭐️

    Are the fire pits open?

They should be.. beach closes at 10.

How do you reserve a fire pit for the night time?

    It's first come, first serve.

Are cats allowed because trhere is no mention of cats any where only dogs?

Per the website any pets (I'm assuming that means cats and dogs) are allowed entry to the beach. However they aren't allowed on the sand. If you have a camper/RV they have to stay inside if you plan on using the fire pits.

    Are there any showers?

Yes, nice outside showers by restroom buildings.

Is this beach open right now? Do they let you use the bonfire pits?

    Is alcohol allowed?

Alcohol is not allowed on the beach.

Planning on spending 4th of July here, what is the recommended time to get there to get a fire pit? I've been reading and I'm assuming 6AM, anyone know if I should go earlier than this?

The beach opens at 6am, so I would recommend being in line by 5am if possible.. no later than 5:30am if you want a pit!

Where is life guard tower #1?

Corner Of Warner Ave and The PCH at the beginning of the park. Here is a link to a map with the numbered stations.…

Can we bring a charcoal bbq grill too cook?

Sorry no charcoal grills only propane

Is there any particular rules for day use trailer parking? Planning on taking my trailer but want to make sure I can open my awning and some chairs.

According to their website: "RV's: no pop-outs or awnings allowed. You may bring your recreational vehicle but you must be inside it or on the beach. Each parking space must be available for a paid parked vehicle at all times."…

    Are dogs allowed?

While dogs are not allowed on this state beach, they are allowed on several miles of paved trails that follow the coast. Dogs are also allowed at the adjacent Huntington Dog Beach. The campground is located on the Pacific Coast Highway between…

Do we have to pay for a bonfire pit?

Nope! Bonfire pits do not come at an additional cost. However, it's best to arrive early enough to actually claim one!

I came back to Huntington Beach 2 weeks later with my boys and booked private lessons for all 3 of us per recommedation from the owners. They matched the instructors with each of us very well. Mine was 6'3" and could easily handle holding my board and helping me figure it out. My 10 yr old instructor had him surfing within 45min on day 1. The young lady instructing my 7yr old adjusted board, and had him up and surfing on day 2. At 56, with 3 knee injuries, including a torn meniscus, was able to stand up finally on day 3, 4 times, in some frothy (yet not too big) waves. The beach area is an ideal learning platform as it has no rocks, coral, or other obstructions underwater except lots of hard packed sand. In the end we had a special father & sons memory of learning to surf together. We were all successful. We had an amazing time, and the staff could not have been more helpful, encouraging, and supportive. I highly recommend private lessons, because I feel like the ROI is 90+% with private lessons, and about 45-55% with group lessons. IMO group lessons can be good later on as refresher.
