Just a little follow up! So I did in fact try their California Roll and let me tell you it was absolutely delicious. The quality of the ingredients were ridiculously fresh, an almost melt in your mouth freshness! Get this, when eating sushi I usually have to put the whole piece in my mouth to ensure it doesn't fall apart because the seaweed is so tough that if I try to bite it in half it ends up hanging from my mouth while the insides fall apart as I try to catch them in my plate, but not their sushi! I bit it right in half with no problem; I was actually able to eat it like a lady, very impressive (LOL) Anyhow, I definitely recommend you all try the California rolls! I tried KooKoo grill due to the high ratings. Maybe it was the items I ordered, but this place is definitely not something to write home about. I ordered the fried fish bowl which came with steamed rice and 3 pieces of fish. The portions were very good, but I could have made this meal at home in 20 minutes with my rice cooker and a box of Gorton's fish sticks. I also ordered ONE kookoo ball just to try it out. Turns out she rang me up for the 3 pack, and I didn't know it because I wasn't handed my receipt until after I paid and already received my food. I could not finish an entire kookoo ball, not because they were big, but because it just did not taste good. I tried to like it, but I just couldn't. I try to give them the beneift of the doubt by saying my batch was bad but I really think I'm stretching it at this point. The worst part of my experience was my 18 minute wait in the drive thru. My son and daughter have been coming here for about a year and they really liked it so we thought we'd give it a try. DON'T go through the drive through if you are in a hurry and don't come in thinking they have a ton of food already cooked and ready to slap onto a tray for you, because they don't. Everything we ordered was cooked to order, and not till after we'd ordered it. So we had a little wait, maybe like, 20 minutes or so. We just sat there inside and chatted while we waited, no big deal really, but for people in a big hurry or maybe on a limited lunch or dinner break, better skip this place unless you call ahead. When we got our food (chicken fusion tacos and chicken platter) we were amazed at the overall quality of the food and the delicious flavor. The Koo Koo sauce is spicy for add it sparingly, the taco sauce is also pretty hot. Tasty, but hot. So beware if you are a tenderfoot (er...mouth?) in that department. The staff was pretty helpful if not overly chatty or friendly. They got the job done and were polite to us, we really don't need to make friends with every server we encounter so that was fine by us. I have to say the portions were HUGE, and this is from the wife of a dedicated "big eater." Another quirk my hubby has is that he doesn't like it if his food is not steaming hot as it arrives. He was not disappointed here, everything was served piping hot and deliciously prepared. If you get the tacos, I highly recommend adding the avocado. Their fish is not fresh and tastes bad, even fried, and their oil looks like being re-used several times, the color looks so dark. He's into the fatty food with all kinda of different sauces on it and that's exactly what the koo koo fries were! Very dense indeed! My dad told me about these fusion tacos this place has.... They're not officially open yet, but I got some of the tacos to go. They have an Asian flavor to them, in a taco! The food is EXTREMELY tasty, I WILL be a return customer. The prices aren't bad either, plus the staff is very nice and generous as well. Used to be a very good place when it was kookoo grill. Since the name and management change its been going down hill. Doesnt taste as great as before, used to be great juicy chicken and now its burnt and dry. Order mixed messed up, drive thru takes 30min, and they stop selling burgers. Just came from here. The food was DELICIOUS!! HOWEVER, I did not give 4 or 5 stars because of the poor service I received from the gal working the drive-thru this evening. I ordered a teriyaki taco and asked for the sauce to be on the side. When the gal read my order back, she said "one taco no sauce right?" I responded "no, one taco with the sauce on the side." she responds "yeah, that's one taco no sauce." I'm like okay... whatever... then when I get to the window she hands me my change. I decided to try KooKoo because of all the rave reviews and I have to say I was a bit disappointed. I ordered a chicken teriyaki plate with fish and 1 KooKoo Ball. The restaurant itself is rather clean and the staff is friendly with ample parking in the lot. The food itself was very underwhelming, my chicken was overcooked and dry as was the fish. I was seriously disappointed by the breaded fish it was just so rubbery and chewy. The only positive about my meal was the kookoo ball which is basically a ball of deep fried rice with a chicken filling with some sort of delicious spicy sauce. Their prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get and they have free refills on your drinks. I'm not sure I would make an effort to make my way back here to try something else on the menu. read more

There was so much of a positive buzz here on Yelp that I had to come and check this place out. Yes, they are both excellent. To me the KooKoo Fries were better than the balls which were also quite good. The kids ordered chicken quesadillas which were a very generous size and they seemed to like them.
