One of My Top 3 Spots for Goat Chop Curry Bombay Blue has easily become one of my favorite Indian restaurants. Their goat chop curry is outstanding and definitely in my top three places to go when I'm craving it. The food has that authentic, home-cooked flavor that is hard to find. The service is just as good as the food. Lakshman is an absolute superstar and one of the best servers I've had. He's attentive, friendly, knows the menu, and genuinely makes sure you're taken care of. The owner is also very welcoming and makes you feel like you're a guest in his home rather than just another customer. It's BYOB, which is another big plus. Great place to bring the family, have dinner with friends, or stop in for a good meal after a round of golf. I've eaten at plenty of high-end and Michelin-starred restaurants, and when it comes to the overall dining experience--food, hospitality, and how you're treated--Bombay Blue can compete with some of the best. This was my first time here. We went yesterday for a Rakshabandhan celebration with family -- 6 adults and one 5-year-old. I had heard a lot about their Indo-Chinese food, so that's mainly what we went there to try. We ordered Chilli Paneer, Veg Sizzler, Schezwan Fried Rice, Veg Manchurian, Veg Hakka Noodles (baby mild for my daughter), and a Mango Virgin Mojito. Portions were okay and the food looked good when it came out, but honestly, the taste was just okay. Most of it felt bland and was missing that Indo-Chinese flavor and kick I was expecting. Since I had specifically heard that their Indo-Chinese was good, this was probably the most disappointing part for me. I would give the food 2 stars. The restaurant itself is beautiful. Ambience is definitely 5 stars. But it was so hot inside because the A/C wasn't on. At one point, even the gentleman serving us was sweating. When we asked about the A/C, he had to go ask the owner if he could turn it on and seemed worried about getting in trouble for doing so. I actually felt bad for him. One other thing that felt strange was that the person taking our order was dressed very casually, almost like nightwear, while the gentlemen serving the food were professionally dressed. I normally wouldn't even pay attention to something like this, but when a place has upscale pricing, you expect the whole experience to feel a little more polished. The staff serving us were nice and trying their best, so I would give the service 3 stars. I feel some of the issues were probably not even in their control. Overall, 2 stars for my first visit. This place is a hidden gem slightly half the busy restaurant areas in oak tree ! This is still in oak tree rd ! I wanted to go here for a long time and at last tried this restaurant.. nice parking facilities outside.. but inside ambience is really good... one issue though- the tables are tightly packed on one side and can turn really loud , if u are next to a party doing friend group :) service was really good.. and it's BYOB. So it's good for friends who want to drink a beer and eat good food . This is more an Indo Chinese speciality.. They also have regular north Indian food but I like their indoor Chinese version is much better... chicken 69 was really really good.. tasted well and spiced well.. it had a red color to it . We got here early one Sunday for lunch and were one of the first ones to sit down. We noted a very strong floral scent and while my family found it a bit too strong, I knew the aroma of onions and garlic would soon fill the space! We ordered several dishes to try and didnt even make it to the noodle and rice section! Gobi Manchurian Dry- fantastic crisp and blend of spices and right amount of sauce. I loved the soy garlic flavor profile and my only criticism was that the serving size was on the lighter side even for an app. Chili Baby Corn- Full disclosure- we anticipated the flavor of this would be too close to the gobi as we have seen in many restaurants. We were happily proven wrong- a very unique sauce with lots of cumin coming in. We all were scooping up the bell peppers with the sauce. This serving size felt more apt. Veg Kadai - Nice sized chunks of fresh veggies in yet another wonderful sauce. These folks don't play when it comes to keeping flavors distinct! Tandoori Soya chop- recommended to get this with malai on top instead of the dry version. Perfect subtle char and the sauce was a nice addition. Only constructive criticism was it was a little more heavy handed on the salt so anything eaten after a bite of this was muted. Our son wanted crispy fries and asked if they could toss it in a spice powder. They used a great peri peri style seasoning but to our surprise and disappointment- they also put a mayo type sauce on top. We did not complain but this got left behind. Lesson learned to specify no mayo. Their latcha paratha and roti were also solid. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and made some great recommendations (soya with malai). Overall we loved the atmosphere, service, and that all the dishes did not blend together. Solid North Indian food in a nicely decorated, clean, modern space. They have some cool art painted on to the walls with plenty of tables. The service is attentive and friendly. We came for lunch as a group of four and started with two orders of samosas (2 per order). The samosas were tasty and not greasy, but somehow the filling was a little spicy. I didn't mind, but samosas on their own are not supposed to be spicy. Good to note if you have spice sensitive people in your group. For entrees we ordered the butter chicken (mild), baingan bharta (spicy), goat rogan josh (spicy) and the malai kofta along with naan and lacha paratha and it came with two bowls of rice. The butter chicken was delicious, creamy without feeling too heavy and not spicy as all as we requested. The baingan bharta was very tasty, nicely seasoned and quite spicy (that is how we ordered it). The goat rogan josh was good, I liked the goat chops as the meat was very tender (on the bone), but the dish was a little bit oily. The malai kofta were perfect albeit a little heavy/dense but that is how they are supposed to be. Each dish had great flavor and was as good as we have had. I love coming here with a group since they're able to accommodate larger parties. The inside is decorated very well, and service is pretty consistent. I've ordered out from here several times with no issues. Dine-in is just as good. The last time we went, my friend got a chai, and I've gotten the chance to try their lamb vindaloo and fried okra. The okra fries are my absolute favorite (5/5), and if you can handle spice, they don't hold back on any of the vindaloo variants. I was craving Indian food for dinner, and since my niece loves this place and we were in the area, we decided to place an order online. We got Garlic Naan, Samosa Chaat, Vegetable Samosa, Chicken 65, Butter Chicken, and Rice and everything was absolutely amazing! Even after over an hour drive home, the food was still piping hot. Despite it being a busy Sunday evening, our order was prepared quickly, which really impressed me. Went shopping in Edison, and my boyfriend was raving about this place and wanted me to try it. We went for an early dinner, and the place wasn't that packed for a Saturday yet. Of course, I had to try the Chicken Tikka Masala and Garlic Naan combo, which was ok. Drinks were really good; I got the Guava Marry, and he got the Masala Chaas, which I'd never had before and was really good. The Tandoor Chicken was ok; I recommend getting the Masala Onion, which was another first for me to go with the chicken since it gives it a bit more kick, or requesting it to be more spicy. The entire experience was 5 stars! We were immediately greeted, given a beautiful table and water was on our table in under 5 minutes. The level of customer service here was impeccable to say the least. Our server was also the main host and he was funny and really nice. He was very attentive as well. The room was modern with very detailed mosaic chandeliers, plus an entire mural on the wall that was painted by an artist and the other side of the dining room was the gallery of even more interesting paintings of icons. Recommend making a reservation if you come here on the weekends- it was open when we came in (around 7PM on a Friday) but it quickly got busy as the night went on. Service was friendly and the staff took time to explain dishes and various spice levels. The highlight of the dishes we got were the Indo-Chinese options- the Hakka noodles and gobi manchurian were excellent. This restaurant is such a welcoming place! I went the first time in November 2023. I brought a large group of about 14 people and they were easily able to accommodate us with no issues. I returned a few weeks ago with a smaller group and it was the same, great service. Everyone in my party loved the food. I had them modify the Gobhi Manchurian to be vegan and gluten- free and it was amazing! I also got the Aloo Gonhi Masala. I was so full after my appetizer, that I brought it home and had leftovers for two days! I am very pleased to see many vegan and gluten -free options on their menu. I have been a loyal customer of Bombay Blue for over three years. Due to long working hours, I often ordered takeout and occasionally dined in. I was generally satisfied with the food and had no issues with service. However, in February this year, I received a goat takeout dish that was mostly bones, with perhaps two bites of decent goat meat. Since I was busy and traveling, I didn't make a fuss, though I was disappointed--$34 for mostly bones with sauce seemed too expensive. I decided to give them another chance and ordered again. What shocked me even more was the response from a staff member when I mentioned my previous experience last Friday, 5/15/26. I explained what happened, and I was told, "Just pay for today's order here. Yes, that goat dish is different from the lamb you usually order. Call later about it. I'm busy now." There was only one other table with customers at that time. The food order was unfortunate, but the way I was treated as a loyal customer was unacceptable. Fortunately, there are other nearby places that value and respect their customers. The trust is broken. read more

Solid Indian option. We were in the area and found this place on yelp. It was quite busy on a Saturday night. It's a busy spot but is fairly big so we were seated with no wait. Food came out quickly. Everything was tasty although a little on the salty side. My favorites were: -gobi Manchurian. First time having this so I don't have a benchmark. It's really flavorful and quite spicy -chicken sizzler plate. Also tasty with a generous amount of chicken Everything was good though. Next time I wont order the chilli garlic noodles because that wasn't as good as the Indian dishes. Service is friendly Only complaint is that the gratuity is auto added to the bill but this is not obvious when you go to sign for the check. Came here with my family for Diwali dinner, because I heard this was a nice restaurant near Edison. Right away, I really liked the look of the place - it's got really cool, colorful murals all over the walls. I also appreciated the nice large tables as of course my family eats Indian food family style. The food was absolutely fantastic, these guys do all the classic curries right. We had korma chicken, paneer makhani, and palak paneer. The appetizers were also delicious, especially the gobi manchurian, which strikes the right balance of heat and sweet/sour. Writing this review after just one visit, but that's how good it was. We came in on a Wednesday night to get our Indian food fix and Bombay Blue did not disappoint. We started with the Gobi Manchurian, which might have been the best I had in my life. It was SO crispy and packed with flavor. My mouth was on fire from how spicy it was but I couldn't stop eating it - soo good! I ordered a Mango Mojito which certainly helped cool my mouth off, lol! It was a great mocktail for this preggo lady and my husband loved it as well! Then we shared the Paneer Makhni and naan - both were absolutely delicious. We ended dinner with the Hazlenut Truffle and Rasmali which were okay, but the highlight of this meal was definitely everything else. We arrived at 6pm and the restaurant was not crowded, although every time we drive by during the later hours of 7-9pm it seems to always have a line outside. Made us curious to try it! Entrees: *butter naan and garlic butter naan- roasted, hearty and plate sized. *butter chicken and basmati rice- cashew based chicken dish with spices-- what a filling meal! Nicely seasoned, creamy and filling. We ordered ours as in and it was not spicy :) *chicken korma- similar to butter chicken but tomato based instead of cashew based. This was a nice piece of info from our server and he recommended this dish instead of the chicken tikka masala as it would be pretty much similar to the Butter Chicken. What a great recommendation. The restaurant was bigger than i expected from the outside, and they even have a banquet room. It's very clean, decorated tastefully. Our waitress was very nice, but didn't completely understand my questions. She did however get someone else who spoke better english. They were so friendly and always smiled from entering to leaving the establishment. No wait for lunch, walked right in, a few people were also dining. It's nice when you see people of all backgrounds enjoying different cultures cuisines. I will definitely be back. It tasted very basic and average for a mixture of the two. The chicken hot garlic was very spicy compared to the chili chicken gravy. The mango lasso was on point and so was the Chili Cheese Naan which was filled to the brim with cheese. To go, we got the chicken tikka masala. It actually tasted like it was supposed to with the Indian spices. Their traditional Indian food is definitely better than their indochinese food. Goat Biriyani (5/5): So far, the best biryani I've had in Edison with perhaps the exception of Hyd Bawarchi in Flavor Junction. I personally prefer this one due to the richness of the masala used and the plentiful amount of goat, but Hyd Bawarchi is a more affordable and is very good as well. Chicken Kali Mirch (4/5): Good, spicy chicken curry, but nothing special. Homestyle Chicken Curry (3.5/5): Medium-spice chicken curry with decent flavor, but was a bit too salty at least when I tried it. Garlic Naan (4/5): Decent Naan but could be bigger in size. Blue Lemonade (3/5): A fizzy, lemonade with blue food coloring, think Sprite. Looks cool and it is refreshing, but it is nothing special and not really worth what they are charging for it. read more

I really liked this place! We got here right as it opened at 1130 so it was empty but great food. Service was really quick, we were in and out in about an hour and a half. It's decorated beautifully - love the lights. I was a fan of the gobi manchurian and the schezuan fried rice. Definitely recommend getting curries with gravy! read more

One of the best authentic Indian restaurants with amazing food and service. Our waitress was friendly and helpful with choosing what to get. I usually get stomach aches after having Indian food but none of my friends and I had any stomach issues afterwards which was a plus! This place is also very clean and have some boppin tunes playing, making it quite the enjoyable dining experience. FYI they charged 18% gratuity which wasn't expected since we were there for lunch with only 4 people. Pending final star review*** Today was my first time ordering from Bombay Blue based on the good reviews on the food. I initially was interested in a main course chicken tika masla. I also asked for a recommendation for something creamy with sauce as something new which I could try instead. The gentleman recommended Chicken Pindi. The price was $24.00. I said ok. When the order was done, the portion was very small. I clarified with another staff that I thought this would come with rice? He says, this is an appetizer. I said, I didn't order an appetizer. But he said, he'll give me a side of rice free of charge (I felt like I was asking for a favor). I went home, studied their entire menu. No dish on the menu was more than $20, average price was $15. And I am learning that their chicken pindi does not have much sauce, it's looks like 2 tablespoons only. So, I decided to call the restaurant to express my concern if I was overcharged. I spoke to Zain. He heard my concerns. I asked to be reimbursed $8-$10 my credit card because the appetizer was over priced. He says he could not do that. Zain says, I could return and he will not charge for chicken tika masala. Like I expressed to him, that I am exploring Indian food and hope to come back to try other dishes. Not that often that you get really authentic Indo-Chinese. Really awesome gobi manchurian and veg Hakka noodles. Also loved the dry and gravy chilli paneer. Also loved their aam panna drink (from my North Indian friends, it's the most authentic Aam panna out there). They do have regular Indian food and chaat as well, we didn't try that. Excellent customer service. Only the veg chilli garlic rice was not that great. Gulab jamun was amazing too. I would definitely go back here in my next visit. read more

Don't be fooled, the blue in Bombay Blue is the same one you see in a gas stove. For all the spice lovers out there, be prepared to get served! Bombay Blue is the rate Indochinese restaurant that does the Chinese better than the Indian. Luckily the cool interior decor makes up for the heat in the food. Spicy Garlic Chili Noodles and Fried Rice were phenomenal. Not your typical "let's just throw soy sauce in there and call it a day", but a complex blend of flavors under all the heat. Loved the Al dente cooked rice and the crunchy bits for a nice combo of textures. Indian food wise, the Goat Biriyani was underwhelming even though it was overachieving. Way too many spices. Lamb Vindaloo was pretty good, quite flavorful and loved the tender potatoes pieces. THE GARLIC NAAN is a must order. So fresh and buttery, this could be the only thing I order and I'd be satisfied. Apps wise, the Papri Chaat was the perfect blend of cool and tangy. The Gobi Manchurian was too salty for my liking.
