If you ever think about working with Rasoi for your wedding food catering, then let this be your sign to look elsewhere. Rinku & Rasoi's catering management team are some of the most unprofessional, horrible people to ever work with. They never gave us a contract for our wedding, stated we would "make it work, don't worry, don't worry" and when it came time to our final payments in the 2 weeks before our wedding, they would not answer any phone call, text, or email that I, my husband, and even our wedding planners sent, requesting the final balance. After about the 5th time asking, they emailed back saying they already sent the final balance, but they did not. Finally after 2 more requests for the balance, they sent it ONE DAY before our wedding festivities began. We took a look at it, emailed back saying we received it and would have payment in person at the event. They replied back, acknowledging this. Now fast forward to the wedding day and night. Our planners handed them the final balance in cash and they turned around and said that we did not pay the full amount. They then showed a completely different balance than the one they sent us, and our planners showed them what we received as well as their acknowledgement of it. Rasoi liaison called their main office and came back saying that they made a mistake on their invoice and theirs is the correct one. Rasoi then decided to blackmail us by stating they wanted $7k more or else they would withhold our food for our cocktail hour and reception. Mind you, this is WEDDING NIGHT. Our cocktail hour was about to begin in TWO HOURS when they decided to blackmail us for something that was THEIR mistake. They take zero accountability for their error and will blackmail you to get what they want. My husband was running around stressed and panicked because Rasoi was demanding the money right then and there, from the GROOM who clearly would not have his phone on him, or his wallet, or $7k to just hand over. Our planners managed to get Rasoi to back down and still serve the food while we came to a resolution. One hour later they decided to go back on their word and again threatened to withhold the food. The ONLY reason we were able to get the food served is because my husband was forced to frantically run around and borrow a smaller amount of cash from family, which his best man handed to Rasoi's liaison. They had the audacity to tell the best man that they would accept the smaller amount because he was "much more calm and cool than the the other guy". Truly the worst experience and we would not wish this type of undue stress, anxiety, and bullying on any other couple thinking of hiring Rasoi for their wedding. Rinku ruined a good relationship that spanned over a decade with my family. We will never be dining at a Rasoi again and all 300 of our guests have been warned to avoid them as well. They are horrible, abhorrent, evil, bullying, blackmailing, individuals who will not take accountability for something they messed up. read more

We came here for the weekend for the lunch buffet. Unfortunately, they were not doing buffet for this weekend- we decided to stay and have lunch. They had a variety of options - we ended up getting the tikka soya chaap, malai kabab chicken, and haryali paneer. All tasted fresh and was great quality. Rasoi II Restaurant is a part of a small chain, this Indian restaurant has a lunch buffet and a menu with a Chinese section. Really fantastic location and right on the heart of oak tree road. They offer drinks and cocktails as well. Large vegetarian selection available. Plenty of free car parking in front of the restaurant. I would highly recommend Rasoi for their wonderful food and ambiance atmosphere. Customer service is great too. A highlight was that most of the staff members were multilingual, making communication easy and efficient. Please take the time and give them a try. You will not be disappointed. Tried Chilli Chicken, fried boneless chicken with bell pepper, onion and chilli with light vegetables which was awesome to taste and went well with our Haywards 5000 beer. Tried the chicken curry with naan bread which is made of chicken breast marinated in yogurt and spices, then broiled in the tandoori and cooked with tomatoes, onion and butter sauce, served with hard cooked eggs. Also tried their chicken biryani made of long grained basmati rice, cooked with succulent pieces of chicken and blended with exotic Indian herbs and served with raita. This place is such a staple of good Indian cuisine in the Indianest town ever. Unfortunately, we didn't realize the buffet is for lunch only (definately will check that out next time I go). The dinner was a la carte (still amazing food). The service was super quick (the waiter is definitely watching like a hawk). Papad was brought for the table which was nice. We ordered the Paneer Pakoras as our appetizer. The Paneer Pakoras were delicious. There was chutney in the middle of the paneer pieces and it was fried very well. For our main course we got the Rasoi Platters. Our non Indian selves also got a naan assortment. Basically it made no sense to have a naan assortment when the rasoi platter was basically dry pieces of meat. The naan I ended up saving to use with curry I made at home. The naan assortment was pretty cool and awesome to get if you have a chance. I didn't realize there were so many things naan could be stuffed with. The naan types included paneer naan, chilli naan, keema (lamb) naan, and Kashmiri naan. I really found the Kashmiri naan interesting. I have never had sweet naan before (it does have fennel seeds and tastes like the mints you eat when you leave an Indian restaurant). The Rasoi Platter was a lot of food. It's basically a selection of dry meats/seafood on a platter (Tandoori Khazana). We had 2 types of meat and 2 fish that were marinated and processed in a clay pot. I was very disappointed in the amount of seafood vs chicken. There was only one tandoori shrimp so I was unable to even try it out. read more

I grew up in Edison, and following a recommendation I walked into Rasoi II a few Saturdays ago very much a non-lover of Indian food. I walked out with a whole new perspective on this cuisine. I was doing takeout, but there was a lively, incredibly well stocked buffet going on behind me. The gentleman who took my order could not have been more helpful and generous. I am admittedly not an aficionado of Indian food by any means, and I was offered samples of many different dishes. One tastier than the next. I ordered a few classics such as Chicken Tikka Masala, plus a few dishes I had just tasted and everything was not only delicious, but packed the perfect amount of heat. I will be returning to my old stomping grounds this Saturday, with an entirely new outlook on Indian food. Rasoi II is absolutely doing it right. Was highly recommended to eat the buffet at this location. The restaurant had few customers when we walked in around 11:20 am but that changed rapidly. So many started crowding into the restaurant within an hour. There were several tables that could sufficiently handle a large crowd. We were able to easily fill our plates 3-4 times before the crowd started effecting our pace. Their chicken and paneer stood out above the rest. The rest of their selection was delicious but not stellar. The waiters were quick to clear our empty plates and deliver us water and mango lassi. The place has good ambiance. The service is good. However when it comes to food and believes me it tastes delicious, great presentations, however, I suspect there is some contamination in the kitchen. Every time I try their daal tadka I get allergic reaction the one I used to get from shrimp. So probably oil or something coz it has now happened twice. read more

Visiting, Rasoi at this location and it was absolutely awful! Buffet was okay, not the best. But, the reason, I was very disappointed because the waiter spilled water on the floor. Instead, of using a mop, the white cloth napkin was used to clean the floor which is used by the customer on serving table. Very unhygienic. It seemed, the waiters were in lots of rush to get rid of customers & move on to the next. Overall, very unsatisfying customer service. read more

So so so so so good! If you like Indian food, you have to try Rasoi II. I was in NJ for work and my colleague recommended Rasoi. Geez! I have dreams about this place! During lunch, they have a buffet. Would be amazing to try that! We came here for dinner and ordered al la carte. We ordered the spinach saag paneer, samosas, and garlic naan. We shared everything. May family and I love eating here because the food is really good. We get the usual Chicken lollipops for appetizers (they were spicy, but so good). The tandoori chicke for appetizers was juicy and cooked to perfection. Not dry. Very flavorful. For main course we ordered the tandoori butter chicken, goat Bhhuna and goat Briyani. Last time we had the chicken Briyani and in comparison to the goat, I would recommend the chicken. They are both good but the goat pieces were too big to eat in a rice dish. I am not normally a fan of buffets. But I had the buffet Saturday afternoon and I thought it was really very good. I love the pani puri stand. The waiter makes the panipuri for you and puts it in a bowl for you to eat. Very much like your own chapati beach in Mumbai. The chicken dishes were excellent as was the Samosa, and Pai Bhaji. The Rogan Josh Lamb is by far the superior dish of the restaurant. Also you can't go wrong with the lamb or goat biriyanis. While the flavor of the chicken makhani would be comparable to vodka sauce, I like butter chicken with a bit of a spicier gravy. Nonetheless well priced! read more

Ordered in from Rasoi tonight. My parents love this place and I can see why! They are very accommodating to spice levels (huge for my family since we can't handle spice). Everything was very flavorful and we enjoyed every bit of it. We ordered the paneer tikka sizzler, chana saag, pudina paratha and Kashmiri naan. We used Rasoi as the wedding caterer for my wedding in Maryland as well as my brother's wedding in Long Island and on both occasions they knocked it out of the park. From the food to the service to the planning, everything was outstanding. They catered for multiple events and at every event, the guests were super impressed with the food. Some of the different cuisines we did were Gujarati, Punjabi, and street food. They also did an over the top dessert bar that really wowed our guests. The service was also extremely professional. The owner, Rinku, in particular was a pleasure to work with - he was professional, super well organized, and knows this business inside and out. His staff were also great to work with and did a great job with service and live cooking. The price is also very reasonable considering all that you're getting. If it is just for appetizer, this place gets five star. Best Pav Bhaji with soft buns, soft idli and home like Sambhar, Chole puri was great too. Ample salad and fruit options as well as mixed beans for healthy choices. Eggplant was hybrid of indo-Chinese and Punjabi style and was simply delicious. Mushroom was perfectly cooked with peas.
