Was pretty excited to try this place. I have been to the infamous "Kati Roll" in NYC, and loved it, so I had high expectations for this place. Came here for lunch on a quiet Monday afternoon. The rolls seemed kind of small so I got 2, the chicken tikka and the panner. I would not consider this chicken tikka at all. There was very little flavor to the chicken. It tasted like the oven baked chicken breast from subway with added psuedo tikka masala. The "Paneer" doesn't have the cheese like flavor real paneer does, its more of a tofu blocks with the same "psuedo masala'. I added onions and spicy sauce which wasn't spicy at all. Although its called "Bombay Wraps' it doesnt really have the exotic spice/flavor profile indian food has, its very Bland/Americanized. Its about as indian, as Taco bell is Mexican. Price point is very favorable relative to other options nearby. Multiple spaces indoors to sit down and eat a quick bite. Ordering was easy to do up front. Indoor premises are clean with a nice, open feel and aesthetic. Ordered the chicken tandoori wrap, it was quickly prepared and wrapped. If it was possible, I would give Bombay Wraps an even lower rating. The service wasn't friendly and the servers were patronizing. In all entirety, the food was awful. The serving portions were very small for the price and being it was a fast food chain. The samosas were frozen samosas that were fried. The parantha was undercooked and so small. The chutney was stale and was residual. The only mildly decent thing on the menu was the sweet potato fries. As someone who grew up in Bombay with wholesome Indian cooking, I realize that I may come in with a bias. However, the food wasn't even up to American fast food standards. The "chai" is far from what chai is. If you are claiming to serve ethnic food, it is expected that you are truly representative of the culture and food. I work down the street and often come here for a quick, healthy (ish) take out lunch. I've only ever has the lentil soup and sweet potato fries. This has been my go to lunch option and it's great food, fast service and cheap. The sweet potato fries are amazing. The flavors of the seasoning of the fries with the hot and sweet ketchup is sooooo good! And always a big serve of fries, a must get! read more

I came here once after a long twelve-hour shift at the hospital. I had such high hopes because of the good reviews, but I will most likely not come back here. Indian is one of my favorites; I love love love samosas. I tried the samosas here and was disappointed. I was actually sad my boyfriend enjoyed it, since this was the very first time he has ever tried samosas. I mean I set him up for failure. I used to live somewhat near Devon street, if anyone currently living in Chicago doesn't know what means, I'll let you check it out for yourself. Salad God strikes again....... Chicago is cold, bitter and unforgiving in the Winter and I was again reminded of this as I trekked to find a viable and tasty healthy option in the downtown metro area. BW came up in a search for a healthy and spicy option so with that I braved the sleety night to procure dinner. Like many of these healthy options the dining room is blindingly bright, appropriately austere and almost hospital like in its simplicity. Also like many healthy options, you basically pick your protein, toppings and base so I went with the double portion Tikka Chicken, spicy, atop a salad that I had to pull from the fridge at the request of the person taking my order. Now I gotta admit, this kinda felt like a let down to me....... so much for made or assembled fresh as I pictured these salads sitting under fluorescent piping in a dumb fridge all day........ thus reluctantly I did as asked...... I also ordered the lentil soup which I prayed would stay hot on the walking journey through the tundra, back to my hotel. See the accompanying picture-- the lentil soup was soothing though despite adding Tabasco to raise the spice factor, it seemed thin for a lentil based soup and a bit under seasoned for an Indian offering. It felt soooo good though as my fingers regained feeling....... The salad was better than my expectations-- the base is pretty basic-- Romaine and mixed greens, tomato and cucumber-- add to that a double portion of Tikka chicken and two flavorful condiments, and you have a pretty sizable meal!!! The chicken was very tender, grilled and spiced well and with the onions this salad was elevated to a filling yet light dinner. The total cost came in around 15 bucks which is pretty standard and a decent value! I'd go back here for this meal..... and I just might..... tomorrow! Wow, this is one of our new neighborhood favorites! If you want a quick snack or meal, look no further! We both tried a spicy chicken tikka wrap on paratha and it was delicious. The paratha was soft on the inside with a nice slight crunch on the outside, and the chicken was beautifully seasoned and moist within with plenty of sauce. We liked them so much we went back the next day. This time I tried the paneer cheese on a paratha wrap. The service was poor, very messily wrapped and server did not explain properly. I've eaten at Bombay wraps many times and always had a good experience but this wasn't a good customer service experience. I complained my wrap wasn't done well and ask few questions but the server was upset versus most places offer a replacement out of courtesy. As soon as I saw this place on Google Maps, I knew I was going! Indian food in a wrap...YUM! And, this place did not disappoint! They offer a simple menu, but each item can be prepared in a variety of ways: as a wrap, sandwich roll, or as a bowl. We ordered the Lamb Curry on a Flaky Paratha wrap, which was made mild, perfect for hubs. Also, the Potato Cauliflower (vegetarian) on a Wheat Roti wrap. We also ordered a Mango Lassi Smoothie to drink. Everything was absolutely amazing! Both wraps were full of flavor, and we wanted to order more. We surely would have if we were not in Chicago just for the day and wanted to try more Chicago eats. When in the area, we will definitely be back! Indian food is typically so heavy, but the size of the portions is reasonable and doesn't leave you feeling stuffed. As a vegetarian, I appreciated the veggie options. Cheap, tasty, and fresh indian eats. The place is clean, the service is no-nonsense/nice, and the assortment of teas, biscuits, and other indian snacks for sale adds a nice touch. I have tried their aloo gobi wrap, paneer wrap, and aloo gobi unwrapped. I prefer the rice version because it dilutes some of the spice (also I love rice =). But the wrap itself is pretty tasty and not too greasy, which I was nervous about. I also love that you can add an egg to any of the wraps. I would argue that the wrap is plenty of food, even though the menu calls it a "snack." For around $6-8 bucks you can get a fresh, tasty, and filling meal here. read more

Relished the Choley (Chickpea Chana) wrap & sweet potato fries, washing it down with hot Masala Chai (tea)! A point to note: Even the flat bread used for the wrap was absolutely fresh and not greasy.... just perfect :) The lady beside me ordered the Lamb wrap and commented "it's delicious!" The good thing is the flavours are authentic and 1 can actually choose the spice level as "mild" or "spicy". This place is pretty unique in terms of advertising bombay "street food" in a chipotle/subway style fast food restaurant. The curry itself was mostly unflavorful/didn't stand out, but they were generous in the quantity of filling. However, a couple problems with this. First of all, there seemed to be little fresh about this fast food joint. The roti was premade and tasted store bought (in fact, ive had almost the exact same thing from the frozen section in chinatown), and the extra 1.00 egg that they put on was a premixed egg yolk soup that I saw the girl plop onto the grill...who knew how fresh that yolk soup was. Secondly, for about $6+ a wrap, the meal in itself was not extremely filling. The pancake/roti used to make the wrap was the star of the show (completely overtaking whatever the filling was...in my case a potato and cauliflower and chicken tikka), and definitely was street food for a reason - it'd probably consist of a snack than an actual meal, unless you bought two. As a concept, pretty unique, since it reminded me exactly of the roti pancakes that I've had on numerous occasions in china, but as for the composition and the freshness, along with the slow service despite the assembly line design, Bombay Wraps was pretty A-OK, but nothing spectacular. If you want to have Indian food, go somewhere else, but if you're intrigued by the roti wraps, definitely give this place a try. read more

Out of rice is not a problem one can expect especially with the kind of rice they have and the equipment they have.
