We were in the area and my friend wanted to have Indian food so I suggested trying Bombay Masala. We were all glad to find this gem. From the moment we walked into this brightly lit and pleasantly decorated place, it was a start of a real treat. We had Tandoori chicken which was moist and nicely seasoned. The eggplant bharta was very tasty and good portion. Lamb biriyani was tasty but I wished there were more lamb though. The highlight and agreed by most of us was the Goa fish curry which has quite a few pieces of Alaska cod and not the typical cheap basa fish used by most other Indian restaurants. It was so good and creamy yet not heavy that reminded my partner of the time when we were actually in Goa having one of our best meal while visiting India. We cleaned the plate clean! lol. Service was great too. We plan to be back as we think this is one of the better Indian restaurants in town. They also have other interesting regional/style dishes from Kerala and Angara which I want to try on our next visit. read more

We are in town visiting and decided to come here based on the reviews and nearby location. We ordered a variety, butter chicken, lamb korma, paneer tikka butter masala and daal tarka. We eat a lot of Indian food and agreed all these dishes were excellent! Rice is extra, at $4.99 a serving and we ended two orders for our table of 4. Their garlic naan is large and delicious! The portions are better than most, the 4 dishes plus naan and rice were perfect to fill us. We will definitely be back. read more

Tried this place again after a long lapse since our last visit. They seem to have remedied the spice level issue somewhat - we asked for extra spicy, and we could detect a bit more spice than last time, though we could've used a bit more. The butter chicken sauce was flavourful though the chicken breast was a bit dry. I wish more restaurants would use chicken thighs rather than breast. We also had lamb korma - the sauce was a bit bland, but the lamb was good. Overall the food was good and would come back again. read more

This place is a revelation. The spices are pronounced, have depth and stay with you. The quality of the food is excellent and the portions admirable. We - meaning 2 of us - had Chaat Papri (Punjabi Style) and the sauce made the dish, Angara Chicken Tikka which had substantial large pieces of chicken breast which were were succulent and brimming with encrusted spices, Goa Fish Curry made with several healthy sized pieces of Alaskan cod in fortunately a lot of sauce which was so good we kept ladling it over rice after having consumed the fish, plus quality garlic naan of nice size and and one order of plain rice. We ended up with some leftover chicken, fish in curry and rice which we took away in a provided 3 partition plastic tray with lid. The lady server was helpful and timely and the kitchen leaned heavily towards quality and appreciable quantity. read more

I wish I could give 10 stars. This restaurant is so good. I didn't get a chance to take pics because it is that good. We went twice in one week. The french fries are spicy. The spinach paneer and Roti are excellent. We will always eat here when in Vancouver. The place is super clean and nice, and the wait staff are very pleasant. We totally love this place. read more

An extensive menu, with great food from starter papadum through entrees. Servings are tasty and generous. Actually, taking the chilli fries as a first course was probably too much, since it could have served five people. It was also blazingly hot. After that and our mains, we did not have room for dessert. Lamb curry was well seasoned at medium. The paneer shahi was actually mild, and the paneer light and fresh. Naan was fresh and tasty. It is a clean establishment. The ambiance is nice. The servers were polite. However, their 2 person menu ($90) is not properly priced. The menu includes an appetizer, selection of 3 main plates, a naan, rice, two small deserts. We ordered one $90 menu and another main plate (coconut chicken). The size of the main plates that come with the menu is substantially smaller than the size of an individual dish. Also each small dish in the menu had two three small pieces of meat. Overall, the taste was good. It is not the best Indian food I had. Don't think that their menu is a good deal! read more

Bombay Masala was exactly what I was looking for! I had the lamb korma and spinach-paneer naan washed down with a Kama Citra beer (a local brew) and I was in heaven. We tried Thali lunch with butter chicken. Butter chicken was delicious, however, aloo gobi just had one potato, no cauliflower and was extremely spicy. Naan was good but rice did not taste fresh. We were the only customers but thought the service was slow, perhaps they were busy with takeout orders. Unfortunately I had better Thali lunch specials elsewhere, especially in Surrey neighborhood. Looks small and unassuming but once you enter you are welcomed by the warmth of the space and the Soviet smells of the spices cooking. Service is good, efficient and attentive without being overbearing and the food is delectable. Chilli dishes are spiced for both flavour and heat and the paneer flavourful. This was my first visit to this cute little Indian restaurant. My friend and I sat on the patio on a sunny afternoon and both ordered wraps -- mine was butter chicken and hers was paneer. This was a large lunch because we were both served TWO wraps with crispy fries on the side. Not only was it great value, but the wraps were totally delicious..... lots of yummy ingredients with just the right amount of spice, encased in tender naan bread. We found one was quite filling so it was a bonus to be able to take the other one home and have it for supper. Maya was our server and she couldn't have been more attentive. There is nothing to criticize -- everything was perfect!! We intend to go back soon and maybe try the dining room inside which looked very classy and clean. I was blown away with my first takeout order! I live a few blocks away, and have to tell you I have enjoyed some authentic home made and authentic Indian meals both from friends and when travelling to India. FINALLY something of this level of quality is here .... the lamb curry was outstanding, bathed in a rich sauce .... the naan was soft,and flavourful and the tandoori chicken was juicy. There's a very good reason this oasis of delectable Indian food has been getting good reviews. Living at UBC, 10 avenue is a regular hot spot for dining out. We love this little restaurant for both in house dining and take out. We are almost completely plant-based in our diet and they have wonderful vegan choices including our favourite, Tofu Palak. The garlic naan takes Indian bread to a whole other level of deliciousness as well. The staff are so welcoming and atmosphere very friendly. The portions are also generous so we often have leftovers for lunch the next day.. equally delicious. Miraculously they made it through Covid due to loyal customers...
