Chana Bhatura and all the fixing's!
    Shelly P.

Self isolating and craving spicy, savoury Chana Bhatura. I was told by a family friend that The Indian Chef restaurant is known for this dish. And that proved to be correct! The fluffy, chewy, Bhatura soaked up the thick, spicy, savoury, packed with flavour Chana gravy. The chickpeas weren't mushy, which lead me to believe, the chef did not use canned nor overcook them. Definite bonus! The plate was accompanied with raita and achar. The raita tasted like it was made in small batches. Perfection! No watered down raita here!! I would have given full 5 stars but my food was warm but, that's what you get when you order from a food delivery service.

Hidden gem in Hastings! Their lunch special is soooo worth the price. You can pick any two non-meat curry dishes and one vegetarian curry dish. It comes with naan, rice, and a gulab jamun. My parents are extremely picky and this is one place they request to go to regularly. I've pretty much tried everything on the menu and my favourites are the lamb korma (cashew base and a bit creamy), palak paneer which is a basic spinach base dish with cheese, and any of the chicken dishes really. They have a specialty Mango Chicken which is really nice and subtle as well. I am fairly good at handling spice, but I tend to order mild or medium here since there is already a base level of spice. Highly recommend this place to satisfy your Indian food fix!

BEST of the BEST !! This restaurant is literally the best Indian restaurant I have ever been to. I went for the first time one month ago, and I have been going back at least once a week this then. The food is absolutely delicious! PERFECT! My Indian friend who just moved to Canada keeps telling me the food is at least as good as what you would enjoy in India, if not more. The value is very great, so affordable. The staff is fantastic, the lady is so friendly, helpful and professional. The room itself is very clean, nice and even quite fancy. I really love the atmosphere of this place. Anyway, I have been there 5 times already, had the same food sometimes (very consistant) and try some other items (all great) !! I can't praise this place enough! Please if you are craving tasty food, give this restaurant a try, you won't regret it. I especially loved their naans, the chilli paneer and Malai Kofta. PS : If you can't handle spice too much, like me, definitely make sure to ask for "mild". Thank You Indian Chef's Cuisine !! see you soon !!

Doordashed Chilli Paneer but found a chicken piece in it. Disaster for a vegetarian! Please work on the quality of the food.

Butter chicken veggie pakora and naan

Super yum! Butter chicken and veggie pakora and garlic naan. Great prices and value. Fresh and ready in 15 mins. Will be back.

Amazing dining space, and even better food. Was seriously blown away by this place and am definitely coming back to try as much as I can.

Not the most amazing Indian food I've tasted, but overall fairly tasty. I prefer South Indian offerings, but... Had a lamb thali and my wife had a veg thali. Only two dishes on the thali plate, where I would normally expect a couple more. The vegetable salad was a definite weak point, as it was just a few scraps of inexplicably blanched peppers and cucumber. Ample servings of the mains though. Price point was a little higher than I would have thought for a lunch special.

It looked like a small place from the outside but they cater to bigger groups as well - we were a group of 10 that went there on a Sunday night. The restaurant wasn't too crowded. Their food was incredible! I only got one of their cocktails - the mithai wala which came with rose petals and a vodka base. It was delicious, I would recommend! For food, we got their achari chicken from their tandoor menu. It was really good, we went for a medium spice level for it but I think we could have done hot. The flavours were really good and chicken was cooked very well! We also got their kathal tikka (which is basically jackfruit), it's so hard to find that in Vancouver but Hariyali did an incredible job! Everyone on the table were a big fan of it! Their menu is pretty big and we didn't get a lot of their items but I will definitely come back to try more things. It is also pretty affordable! Would recommend a visit!

Decor was very beautiful and ambience had exotic south Asian atomosphere. What we ordered: Dahi Puri- Stuffed crispy wheat puri shells, potato, roasted cumin, sweet cardamom yogurt Butter Chicken - Tandoor grilled chicken in tomato, cream, fenugreek, butter sauce Tandoori Naan Baingan Bharta - Tandoor roasted purple eggplant, mashed, finished with tomatoes & green peas North Indian Chicken Biryani (Gf) Tender pieces of chicken cooked with spiced basmati rice, infused with saffron, mint, and North Indian spices. Dahi Puri was great. As server's advised, it is better to have them immediately, otherwise shell texture would be soggy. It was perfectly crispy, yogurt filling was paired so well, one of the best item of the dinner. Butter chicken was very mild as requested. It had rich buttery flavor and delicious. Biryani was so delicious, too! Large chicken pieces were a nice surprise and flavor was very strong, it was very good to have rice with yogurt as server's advice. it balanced the spice. Naan was very decent, nicely chewy and soft texture. Baigan Bharta had very spicy and bold flavor. If you like spicy item, you will love this. Mashed eggplant and tomato combination was good. It was good to have it with Naan. Overall, It was a great experience. I want to start this review by giving a big shoutout to Pemba who was our server, he was so kind and took such good care of us and recommended really good items based on what we wanted. Everything I tried from here was 10/10! Some stand out items - :: Bombay pomfret fry - OH! The masala and coating on this was sooo good we were sucking on the bones till the very end. Such a great appetizer! :: Lasooni palak burrata - I was a little apprehensive about this at first because burrata and palak didn't seem like something I would want to try but I was wrong! This was one of my favourite dishes. It was such a delicious fusion item. For dessert, I would recommend getting their soan papdi malai khwaab and their malai ghewar. Not too sweet, just perfect. For drinks, aam pana with gin is the way to go. I really cannot wait to come back and order everything again!

A huge shout-out to the founders of the restaurant. Their vision and attention to detail are evident in every corner of the restaurant, from the impeccable service to the unique decor. It was an impressive experience across the board! Everything was perfectly curated I really don't have the vocabulary to articulate. What truly distinguishes Bombay Kitchen and Bar is the seamless combination of exceptional hospitality and remarkable cuisine. Every dish was a work of art, prepared with meticulous care and beautifully presented. The quality of the ingredients and the execution of the flavours were truly top-tier. We started off with the Mixed Grill platter...and my mouth just watered watching my video back of it. The paneer was unbelievably soft -- probably the softest I've ever had in my life. It was fresh, melt-in-your-mouth delicious -- you almost don't want to bite it because it just glides down so smoothly. And the Amritsari Fish Pakora. Tell me anyone wouldn't just devour this in seconds. And the Chicken Tikka is always a good move! And Butter Chicken and Garlic Naan? Nothing can beat this combo! I just can't get enough of it. And they served me up a mocktail (Rimjhim) that was straight out of a summer dream! After moving to Canada, one of the founders, Navish noticed that much of the Indian food available had been heavily westernized. But Navish wanted to create a restaurant that stayed true to the bold flavours that define Punjabi cuisine so at Bombay Kitchen and Bar you are tasting authenticity in every bite because every dish is rooted in tradition. The legacy is brought to the table! I'm not kidding when I say they cook from the heart and soul! The menu stays true to its roots. Every dish we tried was packed with authentic flavour and prepared to perfection. One of the best places to experience the true essence of Punjab. What sets them apart is the authentic Punjabi flavour, giving you a true taste of Punjab. You can tell they don't compromise on quality here. So this isn't just an Indian restaurant; it's a heartfelt tribute to tradition, flavour, and the timeless comfort of a truly satisfying meal. You can tell the kitchen team takes great pride in their work because the flavours were spot-on. Beyond the dishes, what really stood out was the hospitality: warm, thoughtful, and full of heart. The service was as impeccable as the food. My server Aman went above and beyond, guiding me through the menu and ensuring I felt right at home. This restaurant nails it on all fronts--great atmosphere, delicious food, and the incredible service from a friendly staff. It's clear that a lot of effort goes into creating such a memorable guest experience. The restaurant itself is stunning; equally perfect for a laid-back lunch or a polished dinner, but it's the food that truly steals the spotlight. The cleanliness, presentation, and overall vibe reflect true 5-star quality. But what makes the experience even better are the owners themselves. They're not just the owners/founders; they're the heart behind the food. You can feel how much pride, care, and love they put into every single dish, and it makes everything taste that much better. There's nothing better than knowing your meal was made by someone who truly loves what they do.
