It is a small neighborhood bar that has quite some years on it and you can tell. I was greeted by the hosts for the shuttle bus and got a complimentary beer for choosing Nachbar as my pick up location. I did get my complimentary beer and left a generous tip. They had Nords Donuts for food for this event. Beer and Donuts? Very odd combination, was hoping for The Post Pizza or something that was real food. It was free so no complaints other than it was an odd combo. Note: they don't serve food at Nachbar. The inside is kinda dated and there is good seating. Bathrooms are set up like Mag Bar and Kerns Korner. IFYKYK. The outside is more spacious than the inside. They do have a nice patio. As for the inside it looks cool and they have plenty of board games and plenty of local beer on taps that you don't see at most bars. I wouldn't come here on a regular basis but, the local beer selection is a hit with me.

This place was also down the block from our Airbnb so we could walk there. They had a lot of boozy coffee drinks and I really like that. I decided to try their Espresso Martini. This was our last bar stop prior to going out to dinner with friends. My drink had a house made espresso, Absolut vodka, Borghetti (coffee liqueur), a rich simple syrup, and coffee beans. My drink was rich and delicious and I absolutely loved their espresso. I do not recall what drinks my friends ordered. By the time we were leaving there was plenty of people in the place and appeared there was some sort of event gathering. We will have to come back here and with all the coffee drinks they had this may well be the place to start our day next time.

Free earplugs, strong drinks, and plenty of head banging. Genuinely the mosh pit here is always popping, and of course everyone remembers their mosh etiquette as people will help you up if you fall, and ask if you're okay if you seem hurt. I'm the friend that holds everyone's glasses and watches from the side though so if moshing isn't your thing, still come for the music and punk vibes. (I personally love watching people express themselves through moshing, I think it's such a beautiful raw expression of emotions!) The bar area has a few booths but is pretty small, but the back room where the shows are held is pretty spacious but fills up quickly. There's also a back patio! Ultimately, Mag bar is a great spot for a show, a drink, and some good ass music.

When ordering, she said she'd give me one or two of hers, but she liked them so much that she finished off the plate, so that's a rave review! My hot wings were reasonably spicy and meaty as well. The wings were excellent and definitely the highlight of the meal. I tried the lime sauce, which was good, though it tasted much more like a ranch-based sauce than I expected. My burger was cooked well, flavorful, and delicious... though I was disappointed to not see the caramelizes onions promised on the menu on it. Instead there was a sad looking single piece of raw onion. Oh well. The sandwich on rye was just okay--not bad, but it didn't stand out. Fries were good and perfectly seasoned. Service was friendly and attentive, although things moved a little slower than expected during our visit. Now for the bathroom area... let's just say the journey to get there felt like the opening scene of a horror movie where someone says, "I'll be right back." It definitely adds to the pub's quirky charm, but I do wish that area--and the restaurant in general--were a bit cleaner. It was not very crowded for a Saturday night. I only ordered bottled beer because I wasn't sure how the staff was with mixing drinks. I'm sure they are good I'm just skeptical. Phil the bartender was very friendly and talkative and told me a little bit about the place. I think the building is very cool and I love anything vintage. I will say some things need to be updated and such. And there is a stale smoke smell in the place and I have heard it does smell like that. Overall I like how vintage it looked. I will return here but, not on a regular basis. They do sell merch here if you ever wanted anything from Louisville's oldest bar. Drinks are reasonably priced especially bottled beer.
