The texture of this shaved ice is like fluffy cool softness that melts in your mouth. It is different than the traditional shaved ice and it is far from a snow cone. We ordered mango and kinako (a roasted soybean flour commonly mixed with sugar). These are large desserts! It takes time to make them since there are fresh ingredients inside. The mango was superb with little bits of fresh mango buried inside the ice. Not sickeningly sweet like the syrups most places use. My husband's had little mochi pieces mixed inside. It is common to add kinako to mochi so this was a bonus and a nice surprise. The kinako dessert was sweeter than the mango. Please know that there seems to be no a/c in this little shop but she has fans going. We went in the late afternoon so it was really uncomfortable inside. I had to leave and wait outside until the dessert was ready. It's hard to take these home as it melts fast so we sat inside to enjoy them. It was like heaven in my mouth and it cooled me down instantly. You must be patient as it takes at least 10-15 minutes for her to prepare the desserts but it is worth the wait! I wasn't looking for a refund or free food, I just wanted to let the staff know in case there was an issue with the ingredients. What disappointed me the most was how the situation was handled. Instead of taking my concern seriously, they insisted the discoloration was "smoothie powder" and showed us a bright electric blue powder they use. The color on the cheese looked nothing like that, it was a dull grayish-blue, which is why I was concerned in the first place. Rather than acknowledging my concern or checking the ingredient, I felt like my experience was dismissed. Food safety concerns happen, and mistakes can occur at any restaurant. What matters is how they're handled. I left feeling disappointed not because of the salad itself, but because I felt my concern wasn't taken seriously.
