I was first introduced to Philz during a work trip to Southern California and really enjoyed the coffee, so I was excited to check out this location while I was in the area. The interior has a bright, upbeat vibe, and all of the employees were friendly and welcoming. There were about 3-4 customers waiting after ordering when I arrived. I ordered one of their light roast coffees, and it took around 7-8 minutes to come out. So not overly slow, but not especially quick either. The coffee tasted just as good as I remembered. It was fresh and flavorful. I really wish they had a location closer to where I live, because their coffee easily beats Starbucks any day of the week. read more

This Philz location was a much needed and long awaited for as it took them about a year to open from the time the local neighborhood was made aware of their upcoming location. Just about a 5 minute walk from home. I enjoy my morning walks to grab my favorite brew. I am a huge fan of the Ice coffee rose but periodically I like to change it up as they have great selection of other flavors like the honey haze, Tiramisu and others. This new location is slowly getting better with the wait time on orders and the drive thru pick up system. During the first few months the online orders were very close to 1 hour wait but they are much better now. The service is good and I hope they continue to get even better. This week I tried the three cheese egg bite and it was just ok as a quick protein bite. Since I am a local this will continue to be my regular go to coffee shop stop. read more

Popular coffee chain - just not a good fit for our family. We stopped by this morning after visiting Valley Humane Society nearby instead of going to our usual coffee shops in town. The parking lot was full, so we parked a little further away in a spot next to a Thai restaurant. The establishment was busy, but clean. We were first in line, and a bit stumped as the selection was a bit meager. I was disappointed that they didn't list some of the drinks I've enjoyed at Philz Coffee's in San Francisco or Palo Alto. So we ordered an assortment of sweet treats and drinks that WERE available, then sat at a table to enjoy them. The food was passable - it was not heated properly, so we didn't enjoy it. The drinks were meh - the missus ordered medium sweet coffee but it wasn't sweet enough, and our tween didn't enjoy her hot chocolate. Total bill was about $40 after tax and tip. Service was professional but impersonal - we had to ask for napkins as none were provided with our food. I'm all for cost cutting but when I've just paid $5 for a small drip coffee, I expect a napkin with our twice-baked almond croissant. Sooo happy Philz finally came to a location near me! This Philz has a drive thru & thankfully is not too busy during the day! they have drive up spots to run in and grab your coffee on the go. The drinks are always made well at this location! My only con about this place is probably the location. The parking lot is quite small and busy. I was working in the area and I always like to scout out places around my job to try things. Seeing Philz on my map, I always have to get my morning fixings. I ordered on the app prior to leaving my house and my drink was ready when I got there. There was a huge line at the drive thru (one of the few places that have one). I stress ordering ahead if possible so that you can get your drink on time. Tiramasu: This is a part of their limited menu and it's my absolute favorite. It is reminiscent of having the delectable dessert with the ladyfingers, cocoa powder, coffee and mascarpone cheese. It was not overtly sweet nor bitter to me. I was able to savor every sip of the way. The staff there was extremely nice and polite and checked in on my order prior to me leaving to ensure it was the right sweetness and creaminess for me. Years ago when I brought a Philz reusable mug, I paid a SMALL for it to be filled up. That was prior to Covid shutdown. Obviously now the discount for using a reusable cup/mug is 10c discount. The location is convenient, I wish the parking lot is easier to park. With cones lined up to split the come/go traffic near the drive thru, it is slightly hard to turn right into the parking lot. We went to Livermore and were craving Philz coffee. We checked Yelp and found this place to be the closest to our location. This was our first time visiting this location, and we were surprised to find a drive-thru. We ordered online on their apps so that we don't have to queue at their drive-thru. I have their Tiramisu which consists of a sip of decadence with Philtered Soul, tiramisu swirl, and cocoa powder on top. I ordered the cold drink but you can also order hot. The apps gave a completion time on the order and our order came out on time. This drink is delicious. It's not that sweet and you can taste the flavor of the cocoa on every sip. My go to is the Rise' [not from Black Pink] coffee, u rs rose flav and pink top. Just different. Most seem to order filtered Soul. Alot of diff notes with add ins. They have an app finally with rewards as they didn't even in SF City stores If you have time, savor the experience. Go in and sit down, but keep alert for when they call out ' your name' for your order. City Center across county kine in San Ramon has one but no driv thru there and Walnut Creek for the ztri-valley. Woo-hoo! Soft opening at the Pleasanton Philz! I managed to get a parking spot in their lot, but there are plenty of parking spaces in the adjacent shopping center. The store is bright, open, and inviting. Beautiful murals inside and out. There is a drive-thru as well, but I wanted to go in, see the shop, & interact with staff. As you know, drinks are made one cup at a time so, as you know, there is a little bit of a wait, but no complaints here. My drink was great, made to my specific order. I wish that they had more vegan food options, but that's how it is at all Philz locations. read more

I wanted to rate it higher but compared to other Philz locations, the drinks are unfortunately not as good. My drinks here always come out watery and not flavorful. I've been here about 6 times so far. Hopefully after some time and experience the drinks will reach the standard of other locations! On the other hand, the work space is great. Too loud for meetings but good for getting work done. It's pretty spacious and has a ton of outlets! Parking lot is small but you can park at nearby lots. read more

Oh man I hate to rate this place 2 stars (which I think is pretty generous) because we love Philz but this location needs some work. I was especially turned off with my interactions with the employee. First of all, the drive thru placement is terrible. The drive thru line blocks the tiny parking lot so you're pretty much blocked in if it's busy. Word to the wise, park in a different area away from the main entrance. Secondly, customer service in here needs improvement. I came in to order a "small" mocha tesora and was told, "I don't know what that is, I don't work at Starbucks." Then he pointed for me to look at the size chart. I told him I said "small" and he said I thought i said "tall". Man, that was super rude. Even if I said tall, I don't think that warrants a rude response like that. Lastly, after I placed my order, I was standing at the barista counter putting the gift card I bought in the holder and the barista asked me rudely if I was waiting for an order. I guess I wasn't supposed to stand there. Maybe I came on a bad day, but geez....At least try to fake it til you make it! read more

For the first visit to this Philz coffee shop with a one lane drive thru I was there about 30 min from closing 5:30 pm. The drive thru wasn't busy at all but it obviously wasn't a coffee time. This is the first Philz coffee with a drive thru. It used to be a KFC restaurant. The style and lighting and building colors of the place grab your attention right away. I didn't elect to use the drive thru but I was curious as how it looked inside so I went inside for my first experience here. As you enter 4 several parking spots which are advertised as 10 minute pickup parking. Entering the place is bright but not overly bright. The yellow tones have a mellowing effect in. My opinion. No line as it was closing out time and pretty dark as the DST started 4 days ago. The lady who took my order was very polite , smiling and helpful and you could tell she had a long day . She informed me some of the sweets from the morning are out as it was probably really busy since they just opened. The place is relaxing coffee spot for customers and PC has a cult following. This is a test spot for the drive thru edition - they chose the 925 area code and Pleasanton at a not too busy main street. I saw cones in the small parking lot so I bet it was busy earlier on this hump Wednesday just as the grand opening started. Next time I will use the drive thru and see how smoothly it's going . They have plenty of employees here all good with customer service. I ordered a hot tiramisu it was delicious. After you order you pickup your order on the right side where there is a long bench Bathroom code is 1803. 5/5 for my First time. The plus is the seating and plenty of charging ports that are pretty much implanted on the surface of the tables . This is a great addition to the Pleasanton coffee scene. So glad it's close. Philz drive-thru is a great idea. Philz revived this location in Pleasanton and now offers both drive-thru and a sit down coffee spot. With some parking (space is a bit tight). It is a more modern looking Philz Coffee spot, friendly staff, brightly lit, plenty of seating. And it is already very popular among locals. On a random Tuesday afternoon it is packed. In addition to serving the usual, Philz also has baked goods - Kouigh aman is a surprise. They have it in classics and raspberry. Definitely can't compare to a French bakery but it surely is surprisingly fancy for a coffee shop. Checkin from the mobile app or ordering via mobile allows one to rack up rewards fast. read more

Came at 10:40am the other day. The first three items I asked for (food items for lunch) were not in stock. The third one they said was in stock but then they came back a few minutes later while I waited at the speaker and said "no, we don't have that either" WTF? There were two cars ahead of me. Each car took about five minutes in the drive through at the speaker "on hold." When we reached the speaker, we were asked to wait. After finally getting the order in since so many things were out of stock, we got moved past the speaker. There was only a single coffee and two foods items ordered and it took almost 30 minutes total from getting in line behind a single vehicle to paying and being on our way. Order was repeated again and name verified again at the pay/pick up window. It is not that hard team....get it together. Not again. Don't have that kind of time for non existent items and disorganization while trying to get back to work. read more

If you're going here, plan to order 30 minutes ahead on the mobile app or in person. This is not the coffee shop to go to if you're in a rush haha, every Philz I go to is always busy. I only ever have good things to say about the customer service, drinks, and ambiance of the store. This location is not particularly ideal for a Philz though as the drive through line is very short, leading to lots of traffic and people unable to park or depart the lot because spaces are being blocked. This is a new coffee shop in town, so I wanted to support it and give it a try. The place is clean and nicely decorated, and there are plenty of unique coffee names on the menu. We placed our order while we were still on the freeway, about 30 minutes before arriving. The app said our order would be ready at 12:15 PM. It only took us around 15 minutes to get there. There weren't many people waiting in line, but most customers sitting inside already had their drinks and were working on their iMacs. There was one person taking orders and one barista making drinks. Meanwhile, the staff on the pastry/bread side (2-3 people) were just chatting loudly instead of helping with the workflow. Waiting 30 minutes for coffee in such a quiet town feels unusual and honestly too long. I ordered the Tiramisu Latte, but it tasted just like a basic latte from an automatic machine at a convenience store. Taste is subjective, of course, but it just wasn't what I expected. read more

Patiently waited for 28mins w/my kids nothing. When I went to the counter the counter person was not helpful. They stated my ticket did not print and so the folks that actually make the drinks did not know, but oddly there were about 5-6 customers after us that were promptly served. The drinks eventually came with lack luster apology. The drinks at least were good, but would rethink coming back. Also the pina colada croissant sounded like a good idea but was disgustingly too sweet and we couldn't finish it. An improvement is if staff would be more attentive to customers. read more

not sure why every time i go here it takes incredibly long to get my order. i've been here a handful of times and i gave grace when it first opened since everything was new but it's been months and the service is still extremely slow. today, i ordered ahead of time online through the app and picked drive through, the drive through was only 3 people including me. it took almost my entire lunch break for me to get to the window. after waiting 20 mins, the sandwich i ordered was toasted but honestly it wasn't very fresh. i wont be ordering lunch again from here, just stick to the pastries. my usual is a mint mojito and it's hit or miss at this spot. sometimes it's really good and other times it's watery, today i got the later. i typically love philz coffee and frequent the one in fremont since i live near there. pretty disappointed in this one as i was pretty hopeful for the new location near my job. read more

Caution: this is a very busy, popular location, so be prepared to wait. I would also recommend downloading the Philz coffee app on your phone to accumulate points and to pre-order. Warning, you will waste 30-60 minutes of your life waiting on a coffee, with no line. The worst coffee experience in my entire life of 25 years. Three customers in the entire store including myself, only one customer in the drive thru as well. They have 5 employees and are too busy talking to each other to do any work at all. I am not even exaggerating, it took 40 minutes to get 1 small coffee I ordered. Just a plain and simple cold brew that takes 5 seconds to pour into a cup. I used to work as a barista as well and never had more than 2 employees at a time doing hundreds of customers a day. All the employees are definitely high on the job smoking their dab pens in the bathroom. The manager here needs to drug test these kids lol. That's the only explanation why they are so slow since it doesn't seem like I was the only one who experienced these long wait times. The philz coffee at the city center in San Ramon never took longer than 15-20 minutes even on the busiest days. read more

Been to this place about 3x now since I found out there was One closer to me. I always order the same drink everytime at any location. I always get the fresh chai, iced, and have them filter the spices at the bottom. Never had any issues until now. The nice lady (name stays with ch..) didn't know what I was talking about and even told her 'can you take the spices out of the bottom so that I can finish my entire drink and not get the spices in my mouth?' She didn't know what I meant and spent more time than needed in the drive-thru. Sorry to all the people behind me! After bickering back and forth, i just told her to make it way they do. I get to the window and she tells me she talked to a barista and it can be done but next time to ask it this way and told me what to say. I showed her my app and said I order this drink everytime and have ordered it more than 100 times (while scrolling through my orders). Yeah..she kinda made me feel stupid because I've ordered this drink the same exact way for the last 4 years. I have been eyeing this location, pretty excited that there is a Philz closer to us 2. the rave reviews of the tiramisu coffee had to be tried out! The shop itself looked like it had a beautiful mural inside and lots of indoor seating options. The wait and drive through took FOREVERRRR-by that I mean 30+ minutes. But I also know, everyone in the area must have been just as excited to try it out! Hopefully with time, the wait time will decrease and knowing we can order in advance may be a better option. As a lover of Philz, this one missed the mark so far, the dart landed on the wrong wall. After 10 orders at this Philz I have given up on this location. Twice I have received the basket of grinds in the cup, as in the bottom 10% of my cup was purely just coffee grinds (they did resolve it one time hesitantly), the other times I received lukewarm and/or watery coffee. For a place that sells practically 1 drink, I would think they would have mastered it. Now service is a whole other issue I have with this place. Asking a question feels like your asking the employees a chore, and that is if you can get there attention. Despite standing 1 foot in front of them, every employee is far more focused on side conversations than a customer in front of them. I go to Philz partly in the warm baristas who make sure your drink is right, asking if it was made right for you, and helpful staff who engage in conversation. The staff here feels colder than my January mornings in Iceland. The Philz standard of asking if your drink was made right have been non existent on 10 of 10 attempts. The new revamped Philz app has been nice for every location but this, as scheduling your drink for a pickup time is useless here, as it has never been ready on time and upwards of 10 minutes late. And to top it off, on my 10th visit here, they have now gotten rid of drink stoppers. For one of the few Philz with a drive through, drink ability in a car is pretty important for this location. A single use sticker is actually useless for Bay Area traffic sipping. If I end up spilling I would rather spill my drink without a sticker, rather than wasting a sticker that was useless after taking it off once. Sadly this place is not a sip sip horray, and hopefully one day I can come back for an 11th cup (only after some drastic measures of improvement) read more

I've been meaning to write this review for a while, and now that I'm finally slowing down after a very busy holiday "break," it feels like the right time. I'm a high school teacher from Florida who was visiting Pleasanton over Christmas break. A colleague of mine--who used to live in California--had always talked up Philz and the whole California coffee scene (and yes, those of us in the Southeast are loyal to our DD's ). While I was driving and a little turned around despite GPS, I spotted this Philz and decided to stop on a whim. From the moment I walked in, the experience was great. This was my first time at a Philz, but what stood out immediately was the staff. As someone who works with teenagers every day (and has three of my own), I notice when young people genuinely enjoy their jobs and take them seriously. The team here had a fun, easy camaraderie while still being attentive, efficient, and fully engaged. The atmosphere felt warm and welcoming, and it was clear there's a positive culture in this store. That kind of energy doesn't happen by accident, and it makes a big difference as a customer. The coffee was thoughtfully made, the process felt intentional, and everything moved along smoothly. I wish I had thought to take pictures, unfortunately I didn't, or else I would have posted them. So while I probably won't be back simply because I don't visit the area often, I'm really glad I stopped in--and I felt it was worth sharing how positive the experience was.
