Bon Creole has my favorite fried seafood poboys anywhere so we try to stop in when we are in New Iberia. The gumbo is as good as homemade, too. Portions are large and very fairly priced. This is a quaint little order at the counter joint with friendly staff. It is well worth a visit.

Food is fantastic. I got the seafood po boy sandwich meal. It was absolutely stuff with seafood and well worth the price. The fries were actually very good. Perfect crisp with just the right about of meat inside, and not too meaty like thick steak fries. The negative is this place is in the middle of nowhere and if your visiting it's quite a long detour. Staff was friendly enough but not super welcoming.

Your order at the counter and pick up your food from the order window. We were there on a Monday so one of the specials was red beans and rice with your choice of a fried pork chop or sausage link. My hubby order this with the pork chop, I ordered the chicken and sausage gumbo which came with potato salad. His plate also came with cornbread (super sweet-not a fan) and banana pudding(delicious). The pork chop was huge, perfectly battered, seasoned and deep fried and i thought that he was going to eat the bone also! My gumbo was delicious, perfectly seasoned, great amount of meat. The potato salad was just kind of bland/tasteless, but everyone has different tastes in their favorite potato salad! I would most definitely return many more times when we are in the area. We had to cut our trip short or we would have returned on this visit!

Flew in from San Diego, and this was my first stop. I ordered takeout this time around, although dining in here is always a great experience too. The place is super cute with a fun atmosphere. * Shrimp Po'Boy: packed with shrimp. HUGE so order a half. I loved that the shrimp aren't heavily battered or overly fried. Easily one of the best po'boys I've had. * Shrimp Gumbo: absolutely delicious with a dark roux and great flavor. Overall, an awesome spot for authentic Louisiana comfort food. read more

This is one of our go-to's in South Louisiana and we always bring friends here when we can. The salads are big, fresh and wonderfully topped with crawfish or shrimp. The plate lunches are delicious and the po-boys are always an enticing option. Service is prompt, the dining room is comfortable and it features that beloved bad taxidermy. Great spot! We are day tripping and came to New Iberia specifically for this and it was worth it! Group of 7 and got gumbo, fried oyster po boy, grilled chicken po boy, roast beef po boy, chicken salad and a basket. All was super good. Kitchen was clean, service was speedy. read more

I now live in the Pacific Northwest, but I'm from South LA near New Orleans. This little hole in the wall place comes highly recommended from the locals! (my cousins from New Iberia, LA). I've eaten there once when I visited New Iberia from Houma LA, where I lived, and it's true-their poboys are delicious and overstuffed! It was very busy at lunch when I went. Recently I recommended this place to my son, who will visit the area in the next few days. read more

I've been visiting this area of Louisiana for over 10 years and eaten at many seafood restaurants. For freshness, flavor, just plain Creole goodness and more, this place is top of the line. Can't say enough good things about the meal my wife and I had (catfish baskets with seafood gumbo and chicken & sausage gumbo). My cousins took me here to try some authentic po' boys and this place did not disappoint. Service was very easy and all the wait staff were really nice. I got the half crawfish po' boy, since I was told that the full sandwiches were very big. After ordering we found a seat next to the alligator head and below the many deer mounts on the wall. My crawfish po' boy didn't take too long of a wait to get and even the half size was pretty big. This was probably the best po' boy I've ever had. The corn meal breading on the crawfish was crisp, but light and not greasy, the bread was soft and the tomato and lettuce gave it some freshness. We had a great lunch here, I would most definitely come again the next time I visit my family down here. read more

Out of towner here that found this place on a Yelp search for gumbo. Don't let the front facade of this building deter you. It's a basic lunch counter with legit Cajun dishes. The Gumbo is delicious. The overstuffed Po boys are legit. Do yourself a favor and eat here. I'm glad I did. read more

Best shrimp po boy I've had in a long time. The bread is perfect! Nice and soft with that perfect French bread crunch! The shrimp are crispy and abundant. The decor is probably not for the average PETA member, but at least you know the meat is fresh. (You'll get that joke if you go there--and do go there.) read more

I took my mom to lunch one afternoon and this is where we went. I am no expert on New Iberia so she picked. Since she is from the area, I figured she knew what she was talking about. I was right. Bon Creole is a walk-up lunch counter. Weekday specials are available as well as a standard menu. The counter is immediately in front of you as you walk in and seating is off to the side. Order, get your drink and wait to be called to get your food. I had a couple of picky kids with me who were throwing a fit as we tried to order. I have failed as a parent by not bringing them to more places like this. Learn from me and bring your kids here. Places like this are a Louisiana Treasure. For food I decided to go with chicken and sausage gumbo and a shrimp salad. Both were very good. Don't expect some boujie New Orleans Creole Gumbo. Expect solid, legit Cajun Gumbo. This is as real as you can get. If you find yourself in New Iberia around lunch you should add Bon Creole to your list. read more

I had fried shrimp basket. Was not expecting popcorn shrimp. It was good. The cocktail sauce was more like ketchup than anything else- no horseradish detected. My friend's fried fish basket was great! Small busy restaurant known for a lunch crowd. Order at counter and pickup at inside window. Bus your own table. Holy smokes was this po'boy delicious. A shrimp Poboy will always be the first thing that I order when I come to Louisiana. This one was so amazing. The bread is perfect. The shrimp is perfect. The potion size is HUGE. I got a full sandwich to Split between me and my husband. Half was still about 8" long and overstuffed with shrimp. Amazing. This is a GREAT cafe style Cajun restaurant. Their daily lunch specials are delicious. Burgers and fried seafood are great. Shrimp poboys are some of the best we've ever had. It can be a bit noisy, as it's a small building with limited seating and it's usually busy. read more

I heard great things about this place so I got the gumbo. Horrible!!!! It was all liquid just 2 tiny shrimps and not a good flavor. I've had great gumbos , suppose to be thicker with much more ingredients not just a liquid soup. Sad not going back. read more

Before you pick up your order make sure you open the bags and check the sandwiches to make sure they're right, and that they put whatever sides you ordered in the bag.

This is my all time favorite po boy shop. The roast beef po boy is to die for. Loaded with roast beef, pickle lettuce and tomato. Their whole roast beef is so big and sloppy I can only eat half at a time. All po boys are great. Just roast beef is my favorite. And love their potato salad. read more
