Visited Soul Haus last weekend and they were unfortunately out of everything that I wanted to try--there was no cornbread, no collard greens, and no green beans. That said, the service was friendly and fast and the interior was clean and well-lit. I ordered the oxtails but they were a bit plain and unremarkable, covered in brown gravy (not bad) and swimming in plain white rice. I also ordered the mac-and-cheese and potato salad as my sides. The cheesy sauce covering the macaroni was a bit watery, but the potato salad had a strong mustard flavor that paired well with the meats. My husband ordered the crawfish etoufee, with fried catfish and rice dressing. He wasn't super impressed with the catfish but the rice dressing and creamy etoufee was hot and well-seasoned. Overall, I would not personally recommend Soul Haus to anyone as it reminded me of a kid's school lunch. However, if you really like plate dinners or seafood, you may enjoy some of their menu items. The.bbq chicken was very tender and the sauce enhanced, the bbq ribs was fall of the bone, would have liked a little smoke or grill char but was still very good, the sides beans and rice nicely done, and the Mac and cheese was creamy, but the star was the dirty rice which comes with the order, this was delicious you can tell care was put into this.
