We booked a private tour with Bon Vivant to celebrate our first wedding anniversary! We had a wonderful time. Our guide and driver, Rudy, was equal parts lovely and knowledgeable about wines in general as well as about the wine regions in Washington. We toured Novelty Hill, Enoteca at Chateau Ste Michele, and Efeste, and came home with 5 bottles we purchased. Bon Vivant is highly recommended! This was our second time visiting Seattle, last time we did a wine tour it was a few boutique wine tasting rooms, the Snoqualmie Falls and a chocolate factory (fun). This visit we decided to go with Bon Vivant, the price was reasonable and the wineries we were visiting (Chateau Ste. Michelle, Patterson Cellars, Martedi Wines and Pondera Winery) were excellent. We knew up front that each wine tasting (and lunch) was not included in the price (if you buy a some wine from the winery, they usually waive the tasting fees). But what made the trip was our driver Peter, (request him if you can) he was/is a walking encyclopedia of all things wine, as he put it a "total wine nerd". We learned so much, how you should drink wine to maximize the flavors, the science behind different types of grapes and how it makes the different wines, why we like certain wines. I've done quite a few wine tastings over the years and was really looking forward to the small group experience promised by Bon Vivant. Man, was I disappointed. We were picked up late from our hotel and were only able to spend a little time at Chateau Ste Michelle before being rushed to our lunch reservation -- because we had missed our original tour time. After lunch we visited two small garage wineries that were charming, but unremarkable. After that our tour guide said she needed to get us back before traffic got bad since it was Friday. Only after one of the other people on our tour pitched a fit about only visiting three wineries did our guide relent. She then drove us _literally_ across a parking lot go to another garage winery. Our guide was clearly well known at the places we visited, but it felt like her kickbacks for bringing her groups there was taking precedence to our experience. I would not recommend spending $89 on this tour. Rent a car and go where you want instead. read more

My friend and I signed up for our first wine tour and randomly stumbled upon this company in a Google search. It turned out to be an excellent choice! Bob, the owner and driver, was in constant contact with us throughout the planning process and even picked us up at our hotel the morning of the tour. The vehicle is new, and fits ~12; it's more of a small shuttle than a van. The seats were leather and very comfortable for our short 20 minute ride from Seattle. The cost was $86.50 per person to be driven around from 9-5 to five different wineries in the Woodinville, WA area. This did not include the tip for the driver (Bob) or tasting fees at some wineries (which ranged from $5-10 per person). We were part of a 5-person group (tours are normally larger during the summer and we toured on the 1st of November). We visited: Chataeu Ste. Michelle, Columbia Winery, Novelty Hill/Januik, Facelli Winery, and one other which I cannot remember due to inebriation (oops)! Bob gave us plenty of time to tour, taste, and shop. The timing was perfect from one winery to another, with enough of a break to make sure we didn't drink *too* much. Lunch was at the Purple Cafe and Wine Bar - EXCELLENT food and great wine. This was also not included in the price of the tour, but the prices were decent the the food was PERFECT after a few wineries. We made great friends with an older couple whom we met for dinner later and again the next day at the space needle. An amazing time! My husband and I recently toured the Woodinville area win Bon Vivant on our first trip to Seattle. I was a bit overwhelmed at the number of tasting rooms offered and thought it best to go with someone who knew the wineries well. Bon Vivant was that and more. Our guide, Michael, picked us up promptly from our AirBnB in the city, and was a wealth of knowledge from the get-go. We started at Chateau St. Michelle, which at first I was not overly excited about. I wanted to try more of the local, smaller wineries. This ended up being an excellent start to our day, as Chateau gives a great tour of their facility that includes a great history of the Washington wine region. From there, we went to lunch and then on to four tasting rooms. Michael knew all the staff and I do feel like we hit some really great wineries. We did have to pay for tastings at each tasting room, but my husband and I shared most of these, which was more than enough. I think we tasted around 30 wines throughout the day. Overall, it was a great experience and I would recommend Bon Vivant to anyone wanting a fun, relaxing tour filled with exceptional wines. read more

This is not actually a winery tour -- it's a tasting room tour in what seems like a wine-room strip mall. If you have taken tours of charming, picturesque wineries (where they grow their own grapes and produce their own wines from those grapes), you will be disappointed in this tour. With the exception of Chateu St Michelle, which is a touristy winery, the remaining stops were cold, industrial tasting rooms in a wine-room strip mall. Also, the tour price does not include lunch or the wine tastings, so add an additional $60 to the cost of the tour to get your actual price. I mean, she was the best. She knew her stuff, but was not a wine snob at all. We took a tour with Bon Vivant yesterday and it was great. We booked a private tour for 6 of us and they picked us up at our house and took us out for about 6 hours of wine tasting and then brought us back home! Don was our tour guide, and he was clearly very knowledgeable and VERY well known at all the wineries, so almost all of the wineries waived our tasting fees. We started off at Chateau Ste Michelle, then went to Januik where we had pizza with our wine (only place we paid anything), then to Airfield, then to Eye of the Needle, then Robert Ramsay, and we ended at Obelisco. All of them were unique and great - and ones that we wouldn't have necessarily picked up on our own so it was great going on the tour and seeing all of the unique wineries. They took us around in a 12 seater coach. It was really comfy and a perfect spot for a nap on our way home lol. I think in the end I bought about 12 bottles of wine and joined a wine club, so successful day! I highly recommend these guys and if I ever do another wine tour will definitely call them first. read more

I will definitely use Bon Vivant again. If I think about what you want from a wine tour, it's a friendly and knowledgeable tour guide, good choice of wineries, a pace of touring that's fast enough that you feel like you're getting value for money, but relaxed enough that you can enjoy yourself, and most of all, the luxury of not having to worry about a thing. Bob, the owner and tour guide for Bon Vivant met or surpassed each of these criteria. He was prompt with pick-up and great a communicating the plan, the bus was very comfortable, the wineries he picked were great, as was lunch at Purple, and finally we didn't have to worry about a thing. I highly recommend this service. Couple of pointers: definitely bring money for the tastings, be prepared to want to buy wine (luckily it can all be stored in the back of the bus), and be prepared for the end of the day timings to be a little flexible... we ended up getting back about an hour later than expected, which we absolutely didn't mind, just be prepared. read more

Booked Bon Vivant for a private tour for 10 people this past weekend for my birthday in Woodinville. Can't say enough good things about this tour! Our guide Peter was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating. We went to 4 wineries plus lunch. That seems like a lot but it really was the perfect amount. Peter always gave us at least a 10 minute heads up before we moved on and had the shuttle ready to go right outside the entrances. We felt like VIPs as every winery we went to were expecting our large group. I will definitely be using them again! read more

Went on a wine tour today, SO much fun and highly recommended. Booked through Michael, he was very helpful, great communication both by phone and through email. He asked our preferences, it seems like they try to tailor the experience according to the level of knowledge and tastes of the participants for each tour. Eleanor was our guide and driver today, also great communication by phone letting us know exactly what time we'd be picked up at our hotel. She was on time and the coach was quite nice. Eleanor was down to earth, super fun, and very knowledgable. She had good relationships with all of the winemakers we met and their staff members, and kindly educated us on some points without coming across as snooty. Everyone seemed very comfortable. I've done 2 separate tours each with a different guide but I found Judith's tour to be the best. She is very friendly and passionate about her job and the wine! it was reflected in her level of enthusiasm the entire day (10am to 430pm!), her ability to assess group members' likes/dislikes in wine and picking the best destinations to keep us engaged. On top of that she's genuinely interested in getting to know you and is a great conversationalist. If I were to do another tour, I'd ask for Judith because I know I'd have a great time and she'd take me to the best places to suit my tastebuds at that time. read more

Not really sure why we paid 150 bucks a person for a ferry ride to Bainbridge. Lunch and wine tasting fees are not included in the price, and we werent even picked up where we were staying. FIVE wineries and nothing but goodness. He picks you up from your downtown hotel and drives to you the most amazing wineries. He arranges lunch at the Purple Cafe, which has a amazing crab cakes and good food. The price for his tour is reasonable. Bring some money for wine tastings and food and don't forget to tip. I didn't hate any of the wineries we went to, I would have bought more. If you're looking for a great job go with Bob. My mom, sister, and I enjoyed a fabulous wine tour through Woodinville on Mother's Day. Peter, our tour guide, was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. We started off at Chateau Ste. Michele and then enjoyed a nice lunch at a local Italian restaurant. After that, we talked with Peter and decided on four additional boutique wineries to try. We ended up at Eye of the Needle, Efeste, Matthews, and Mark Ryan. Loved them all. The shuttle van was comfortable, spacious, and stocked with water bottles to keep us hydrated all day. First let me say that we are experienced wine tour participants and have done quite a few of these types of tours throughout the US and Europe and honestly we enjoyed Bon Vivant and Don more than any of the others we have been on. This was a spur of the moment decision my husband had for my birthday and I have to say, it was one of the best birthdays I have had yet. Michael with Bon Vivant made it easy to make the reservation and allowed us the choose where we would like to be picked up. He asked us what type of wine we enjoyed and asked if we had any specific wineries that we wanted to visit. We were picked up right outside the restaurant in Seattle that we wanted to return to later after our tour which made it easy. There were a total of 8 of us on the tour, we were four 50 somethings along with four 20 somethings and we all got along great. After a tour and tasting at Ste. Michelle Winery, we stopped at Purple in Woodinville for lunch. As usual the food was excellent (this is not covered in the tour fee). We then proceeded to five boutique wineries, with one right across from Purple and the other four in the winery warehouse area. We loved them all. We bought a few bottles along the way and even joined one of the wine clubs. What sets Bon Vivant apart is that we all felt Don was just one of us. He had a great rapport with the winery owners and was able to give us any information and answer any questions we had. He has a pleasant personality and made us all feel very comfortable and welcome. I would highly recommend this tour whether you are visiting the Seattle/Bellevue area or are a native Washingtonian! As a side note - the price was definitely on the low end for this service. We have been on a number of wine tours in other parts of the country and this one ranks right up with the best. We took the Woodenville Tour, close to where we were staying in Seattle so not too much drive time. There were 7 others on the tour, all very nice and the van/bus was very cozy. Bob the owner and tour guide did a great job, some of the folks on the tour liked whites more and a few of us went more for the big reds. Bob figured this out and made a point to bring us to wineries that catered more to our taste and the white drinkers were able to visit places more to their taste. Bob was fun, had good wine knowledge and just a nice guy. If you enjoy wine I highly recommend his tour, excellent. I did a tour with Bon Vivant during my vacation in June. Our tour guide, Judith, was absolutely wonderful! It was a small tour - myself and my boyfriend, and Andy ( a new friend!). Judith listened to all of our likes about wine and personalized the experience for us. Judith is very passionate about her job and her wine! She did a great job of selecting wineries based off our needs and likes/dislikes. She also has personal relationships with a lot of wine owners, which scored us some additional tastings and private tours throughout the day. We started the day at Chateau Ste. Michelle with a tour and quick tasting. This tour and tasting were included in the price we had paid, but every other tasting was extra. Definitely budget to spend between $10-$15 on tastings at each winery - we went to five throughout the day - and the prices can add up. I counted the price of Bon Vivant as having a personal wine expert and a designated driver for the day. If you don't want to spend more than the ticket price, this isn't the tour for you. Bon Vivant was a very fun day and I would recommend to wine lovers. We enjoyed all of the locations we visited and gained a lot of information on wine! We've lived in Seattle for almost 3yrs and always wanted to have a tour of the winery's in Woodinville. We could not have made a better choice than Michael and Bon Vivant Wine Tours. He picked us up on time and had a smooth ride to Woodinville. He catered the tour to us since we were the only people on the bus for that tour and it worked out great. We had great conversation at lunch and learned a LOT of about Washington wine and winery's. We attended the Woodinville wine tour and were terribly disappointed. The tour was basically a $200 taxi ride. All of the Woodinville are no farther than 15-20 minutes from Downtown Seattle. Moreover, most of the winiries are only minutes apart and even within walking distance of each other. We stayed in an eastern suburb of Seattle and were in fact only 10 minutes away from the winiries from our hotel. We should of done more research of the area. The website makes no mention of how close Woodinville actually is and how the winiries are so close together. Even more frustrating was that for about $100 a person absolutely NOTHING is included. You have to pay for ALL of the wine tastings yourself (Which were priced from $10-$20 per tasting). Then you are forced to eat where the driver picks which is an overpriced trendy wine bar. I paid $15 dollars for a side salad and a cup of soup. The tour guide is not really a guide at all but rather a mere driver. He offered next to nothing in terms of information about the area or any additional details about each winery. Everything we did on the tour was nothing more than we could of done ourselves. We only visited one true winery (Chateau St. Michelle) and even there we simply did not receive any extra access or perks for being with a tour. Please save your money and do not go on this tour. You can easily reach the winieries on your own with a brochure and a GPS. And if you plan on getting drunk you can still just get a taxi to take you to and from the center of Woodinville and easily walk to the different winiries for a fraction of the cost!! read more

Bon Vivant was so much fun. My wife and I had a blast here and made sure to get some wine to go.

This was a pricey tour for what it was. We got picked up at 9 am in Seattle and made it to a flag ship wine tour by 11 am we spent a lot of time picking guests up some that did not show. Then you have the additional cost of wine tasting fees and a group lunch to be paid for in addition to tour fees. We definitely didn't fit the demographic of the tour late 30's and living local to Seattle. The tour was given to us as a gift and the tour operator knew this. It was a shame it wasn't tailored a bit more to us being familiar with Washington wines instead 2 of the 4 tasting rooms we visited I had been to before....it was nice to be driven and if you aren't from the area probably a very nice beginner tour. All in all we spent over 3 hours on the bus doing pick up and drop offs which was sort of a bummer but we made the best of it having the time together. We didn't make it back to our house until 7 pm. We were very happy with our wine tour for my birthday last weekend. I'm not a huge "groups" person, but it didn't feel cramped and we had 12 with us! Peter was an awesome tour guide. He was laid back, professional, and gave all kinds of interesting information about the science of wine. Peter's pretty much the Alton Brown of wine, by the way. Like "Good Eats" Alton Brown, not "Cutthroat Kitchen" Alton Brown. Somebody hurt that guy. I digress...Moving on...My boyfriend and I have a few wine memberships for local wineries, and our awesome tour guide was kind enough to let us know of members areas we could visit. All-in-all, I can't see how anyone can drink wine from 10am to 430pm, but it was a lot of fun. One of the things we really appreciated was that we were able to go to "the big one" Chateau St. Michelle, but were also able to go to smaller more boutique wineries. There was a great mix of famous wines, 100% pure varietal wines, blends, and all kinds of things going on as we tasted. Best of all, we were able to stop at a couple of restaurants for lunch and for an end of day snack, and they were all delicious! I highly recommend using Bon Vivant, even if you're local, like us. It's a great way to get an introduction to Woodinville if you've never been. read more
