The cutest little vegan market! It is pretty small but it has a good selection of snacks and some merchandise. The fridge has their prepared goods like salads, bowls and sides like potato salad and chickpea "tuna". They also have a bunch of juices and smoothies and other goodies! The staff were friendly and gave some good food recommendations in the area and some ideas on things to check out. They have a couple of stools to sit on at a counter but there isn't much seating otherwise. Check this spot out it's very cute and you can definitely find something for everyone. read more

I'm really struggling with Bonberi. For the past 3 years I have been a loyal customer, frequent buyer, always bringing new people in to try their treats or my favorite: their muffins. As consistent as my loyalty, is their mean customer service. I can confidently say that each time I've visited the store over these 3 years not once have I been greeted with a smile from whoever is working the (very small) store that day. Once, I went in at opening time and asked what the muffin of the day is and was basically reprimanded by the person working that day for not know that muffins are ready at a specific time, not right at open. I've been in at the same time as the owner, who doesn't make eye contact or crack a smile (felt like I was invading her space). More than once I've been the only person on line ready to checkout and not been helped or acknowledged by the person at checkout to the point that I had to walk out without buying what was in my hands. I even have a friend who chooses to wait outside when I go, no matter the season, over coming inside and being subject to the judgmental atmosphere you inevitably face each time. Most recently I went in 30 minutes before closing and the person working there was speaking loudly about how she wanted to close the store early to watch something on TV, intentionally trying to make me and the other customer in there uncomfortable, creating an oddly stressful environment where I just wanted to get a treat (I left without one). I've heard others have been treated similarly. It feels like the only people who are treated nicely there are influencers or pseudo celebrities. They've cultivated a very mean girl environment that I don't support, I left that behind in high school. Again, I really want to love it here, I wish they could just meet me halfway and treat their customers with basic kindness and respect. read more

This is a vegan oasis with a caring staff offering sandwiches, vegan pastries & snacks;I hear the cinnamon rolls are 'to die for.' If you're in the West Village hold out at least for a cuppa organic biodynamic, espresso drink. I had an Americano with oat milk-warmed me from the inside out! Very well-curated wellness/health market. Bonberi has a selection of prepared foods which I've largely never tried (except for their squash hummus, which is bomb), but they also stock a VERY good section of pantry staples and healthy-ish baked goods, including Brutus Bakeshop, Knead Love Bakery, the most amazing green juices from Grassroots Juicery, and spices/condiments/snacks from a diverse selection of brands. I agree that things here are on the pricey side (my bill is always painful), but the curation is so, so good and I justify it by saying coming here is cheaper/more convenient than trekking to several locations across Brooklyn to get the goods. read more

I want to like Bonberi Mart so badly but I can't get over the poor service. I've shopped at Bonberi at least 10 times (I love their muffins and chai lattes) and I've left offended and/or confused almost every time. While I've had one or two nice experiences - the cashiers are generally judgmental, unfriendly and slow. The vibe of the shop is uncomfortable and it feels like the cashiers judge everybody who comes in unless they're a favorite. I've gotten very weird looks when asking what the daily muffin is, I've been straight up ignored by staff while waiting second in line for 15 minutes while they chat with another buyer... it's really disappointing behavior and I'm surprised that, based on other reviews on here, there hasn't been a change in staff or customer service training. On my last visit in, I paid with cash - only to be told that they didn't have exact change and then asked if 'I want any of the coins?' as the cashier held up a hand of small coins. I would love for Bonberi to start hiring more professional (and kind) staff. I would stop in more if it wasn't such a bizarre experience. read more

Given that I really enjoy this place, especially the premade food, I really wish the sales associate/cashier was friendly and helpful. When asking a question it's like we're bothering her and it is really uncomfortable because her rude attitude is constant. (We know other people who shop here and they all say the same thing. Last time I was there, I heard someone right outside the shop complaining about her too.) It's a small business so we want to support the shop as much as possible but I find myself purposefully not going there in order to avoid a rude and negative experience. Especially in the time of COVID, friendly interactions can make someones day. Products and taste is important, but so is a customer experience, and if I can find all their products (except house-made items) elsewhere, I have been choosing to go elsewhere to purchase. Hopefully this changes as I think otherwise it is a great little store with really healthy selections. read more

Disappointing. Prices aren't listed, so be prepared for a shock at checkout. Upon researching products they carry in-store, I noticed they markup everything 50%-100%. For example, a half loaf of bread that goes for $12 on the vendor's website, will cost you $20 + tax at Bonberi. You get the picture. I've been a huge fan of Nicole's blog for a long time and was so excited to come to Bonberi Mart for the first time. The prepared food, snacks, coffee and curated selection of skincare/wellness goods speak for themselves: A+. My only issue (and reason for three out of five stars) are the people who work there. It's unfortunately the type of place that you are afraid to ask for prices because you know you will be judged. Once I had the cashier ring up a loaf of bread and it was in the $9-$12 range (I don't remember exactly). I suddenly realized I didn't want to spend that much on a random loaf of bread upon which I apologized and said I was going to put it back - oh boy, the eye roll and judgement I felt as I sheepishly put the bread back and left the store. It's fun to experiment with new brands but it would be appreciated if they could acknowledge the fact that not everyone has the disposable income to be able to load up on pricey snacks and fun goodies. I don't recommend they lower their prices at all - that's not what I'm saying - I think the brands they sell are premium and the prices are on market for those brands. I'm just asking that they acknowledge it's ok for people to be curious and come in the store to look around without actually deciding to try anything. read more

I live in Brooklyn and I go out of my way to go to Bonberi. The salads are so good! I love the dulse Caesar and I love to mix in the chickpea tuna -- I hate with some salads how there's a ton of lettuce and a tiny amount of toppings and dressing. At Bonberi there's a ton of cleansing greens but there's also a lot of toppings and enough dressing to go around Plus the yummiest treats by Knead Love and Brutus Bakeshop. read more
