I came here with a friend, since its so close to my school. I got the kimchi jigae it was ok nothing special. We also got the veggie pajeon which was really greasy and we couldn't finish it. my friend got the dosolt bibimbap she said it was good, we also got the veggie mandu which is the exact same taste and flavor as the one I get at HMart, I wouldnt be surprised if thats where they get it too!! overall the food wasn't that special plus it was a bit on the pricey side! we each paid $33 for the food that i just mentioned, not worth the money! read more

Best KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) around, comparable to NYC/L.A., with other tasty Korean dishes, such as the best dduk-bokki around. I am a huge fan of chicken wings in general, and I think the recently developed Korean-style twice-fried wings are the only evolutionary step forward since the Anchor Bar in Buffalo invented the buffalo wing. These Bon Chon wings are better than the Kyochon wings in Seoul (sort of like saying I had a hamburger in Tokyo better than McDonald's). Don't get your expectations up...they are still chicken wings after all, but I'd rather have a mound of these with a candle on top for my birthday than any other wing, period. Some caveats: the spicy ones are killer spicy, almost suicide-buffalo-wing level. Problem is they look just like the non-spicy ones. And the "coolants" daikon radish and cole slaw can't put out the flames. All you can do is eat more spicy wings and fight fire with fire. 8) The bigger surprise is that other Korean dishes are particularly well-done. The dduk-bokki (rice cake cylinders in spicy red pepper sauce) is my favorite in Boston; they do it streets-of-Seoul style, with deep fried gimbap (Korean maki), vermicelli noodles and odeng (pressed fish cakes...sort of like Korean chicken McNuggets of fish). The sauce itself is delicious. If they would only put more *stuff* into it, including the rice cakes, it would be killer. They also had a dish called bulgogi stew, which to me is the best part of a good bulgoi - lots of meat plus that awesome brothy au jus which is best slathered over all the rice. The other jjigaes were also good, comparable to the better Korean restaurants in Boston. Overall, a great meal, plus their service was extremely nice to us. We had a birthday cake from an outside bakery. They helped prepare, light the candles, and brought it out. Since it's not their food, it was nice of them. Plus, the great manager threw in a freebie dish, real Korean style, because we were frequent customers. My suggestions to management (for whatever they're worth): 1. Ranch dressing - as one yelper mentioned, people around here like ranch to put out mouth fires. Although Koreans don't seem to generally like Ranch (lactose issue?), it'd be good for many, including Ranch-loving Koreans. 2. Medium-spicy wings - the spicy sauce is delicious, and if there was an in-between spiciness, I'd get it every time. 3. Dduk-bokki with more dduk and other stuff in it. read more

I came here for the wings, and indeed they are not a disappointment. However the service is pretty disappointing, I asked if they could mix the sauces for me or give me some sauce on the side and they refused on both accounts. It should be also noted that the wings can be quite small and I am not a fan of very big wings. Overall: I would go back on occasion. This review is for the bibimbap and the BBQ since I didn't order the chicken. BBQ short rib: 1 star - Their meat selection is fair and ranges from about $11-$15, depending on what kind of meat and cut you get. I got the beef short rib which was I think $14. Despite being person who's lived in Los Angeles where there are tons of Korean restaurants (e.g. $17 AYCE w/quality meat), I wasn't expecting that much from the quality here. However, the meat was below even my already low expectations as quantity was both little (about 12 small slices) and noticeably just THAWING. For $14, I thought at least the meat would be a little fresher... On top of that, I did not receive the small dishes (kimchee, pickled radish, etc., aka banchan) that typically are offered at Korean restaurants; you have to pay extra for them. So no rice, no side dishes, no soup, only a small lackluster salad. I've never been to a Korean BBQ where they did not give complementary kimchee! However, the waitress was very nice and gave me some radish once I mentioned this tidbit. Bibimbap: 3 stars - I honestly can't judge too much on this dish as I've only eaten it a number of times in my life. I thought it was decent, but nothing to write home about, and the price was tolerable. Bottom line: As others have mentioned on here, go here for the chicken. Don't order the BBQ here unless you are dying for it and can't get it somewhere else. It's a complete ripoff. The owners clearly want to rip off their customers with sub-par quality food and high prices. And if you're ever in LA, come to Koreatown where there are restaurants on every block, food is cheaper and wayyyyy more delicious. read more

Fantastic fried chicken, some of the best food I've had in Harvard Square. Based on the food and service alone, I would happily give it 5 stars. However, the food is just too expensive to justify going more than a couple of times a year as a college student, especially with so many other great options in Harvard Square. We visited the Bon Chon location in Cambridge this past weekend b/c our friends had raved about the fried chicken. They were right. It was pretty yummy. The cold noodles was pretty tasty too. We went during the heat wave, so a nice bowl of cold noodles really cooled us down. What didn't help though was the fact that the AC wasn't working very well, so we found ourselves sweating the whole time we were eating. Boo! I've been to many Korean restaurants and all of them have served bon chon, which are little plates of pickled items, etc. I thought it was pretty odd that this restaurant's name is called Bon Chon, yet they don't serve bon chon?! When my friends suggested this place, I was immediately intrigued. There is a Korean hot wing restaurant back in California that I love love love. This place, sadly, did not measure up. The food was fine, but pretty Americanized & greasy. I thought it was decently tasty while eating, but after getting home, I'm definitely feeling a little queasy. My friend also commented that something we had upset her stomach. I mostly shared from a platter of half spicy half normal wings. The bulgogi was also fine, but nothing better than I can make myself. The gochujang for the bibimbap was definitely way too sweet, taking away from that clean, spicy taste I usually look for in this dish. Also, the service wasn't stellar. We had some troubles communicating with and flagging down our waitress. Not a huge deal, but something to consider. I may come back if others really want to try this place out, but I wouldn't suggest it myself and I'd need some stomach prep. read more

The food here is pretty good. It's a bit small and downstairs, but there are lots of booths for bigger groups and tables on the side too. The chicken is awesome - spicy and perfectly cooked. The lunch galbi was quite good - came with rice, salad, and soup for about 10 bucks. read more

I've read a couple of bad reviews about this restaurant and was hesitated to visit. I gave it a try anyway since their chicken is quite famous. The servers were helpful with beginners like me. Sometimes when you go to restaurants, they always try to sell as much food as possible, but the waitress that I had was thoughtful and tried to recommend me better options and save the $$$ quite a bit. The food came out quick and well prepared. Only one thing caught in my mind is the manager wasn't that friendly and yelling all the time. Overall, it was great! They're this great, lightly crispy texture that is mouthwatering. My girlfriend and I had a pretty bad experience - worst restaurant we have ever been to. To start off the waitress was not kind and inflexible while ordering. According to my girlfriend the woman's bathroom was dirtier than a college frathouse. The food came out in literally 5 minutes and was terrible - I am not sure if they just had a bad night or that is the normal quality of food served. And the cherry on top, they forgot to give us miso soup until after we paid. Avoid this restaurant at ALL COSTS. There is a fantastic thai restaurant right across the street, best pizza in Harvard Square at Pinnochios, or three Dunkin Donuts spread around the area that would serve better muffins than this joke of a place. read more
