Tried this place for the first time and it was great. It's pretty small inside and they don't take reservations but luckily we didn't have to wait. The green beans were def my fave and spicy. The noodles are also yummy but they had a super gummy texture and the spices made my tongue numb but I finished all of it and everything tasted so fresh. Definitely would return

Nice location, has good dining room and decor. We arrived before kitchen close, and ordered super quick because we didn't want to be those people haha. Our server definitely didn't seem like he was too happy about that and it showed most the night, but it could be me reading it wrong but that's what i interpreted it as. So i would say service was lacking. - Jahunger noodles thought this was tasty and the meats were cooked well and tender. The star was the noodles chewy bounce and had nice flavor. - Meefen noodles - ooooweee after a few bites definitely spicy and numbing haha probably the peppercorn bit i enjoyed this dish (paid for it later tho when digested haha) - Kavap (lamb kebab skewers) wasn't worth the price to portion ratio, well grilled and seasoned with cumin. Lamb was prepared well, no hint of gaminess. - Hand-made Lamb dumplings - hard pass for me next time, came out cold and bland. - not your avg honey cake- not my cup of tea but the lady enjoyed it! Reminded me of carrot cake consistency, mild sweetness which is nice. Not the dinner i would gravitate toward again but it was enjoyable dishes for trying it the first time.

Quite a disappointing experience. We got the gobi lamb and it was overcooked and dry. The chicken stew was ok: only good part were the noodles. The chicken does have a lot of small bones. Potatoes seemed over cooked as they were too mushy. The tea was delicious. Our server was either new or lacked experience. We asked for recommendations, and he gave use recommendations based on spice level. We also never saw him after we placed our orders. We had to flag the other staff members for things and the bill. Get on the waitlist via kiosk by the host desk and you'll get a text when your table is ready. We waited about 30 minutes on a weekend night.

Went in without a reservation and was told it would be a 45 min wait but it was much longer than that. This place is very busy and limited parking although they do have some spots on the side lot. The inside is larger than expected with simple decor that came all together and dim lighting. We ordered to share for 4 but the dishes we ordered didn't balance out enough but it was the end of the night so we didn't order more. Just note that some portions may be smaller than expected. For apps, we ordered the Kavab which are lamb kebabs and the Handmade Lamb Dumplings. The dumplings were smaller than expected and came with 7 pieces. Nothing crazy with flavor or anything although the Lamb was a little saltier than expected. For the app price of $14 and $13, expected a little more honestly. The Gobi Lamb was a disappointment. For $22 there barely any meat, it mostly just bone and wasn't that easiest to take off the bone either. The favorites were definitely the Meefen and Jahunger Noodle. The Meefan came with a different noodle than the original. It is this thick rice noodle, it had a slight spice in a thicker soup. This was my personal favorite although I wish there was a little more soup. The Jahunger Noodle was good as well coming in saucy thick noodles that were a little short. Overall the food was pretty good especially the 2 noodle dishes. Would highly recommend the Meefan.

Finally got the chance to try Jahunger in person! Prior to this, I've only ordered takeout through UberEats. The restaurant is a decent size and I think they'd be able to accommodate larger parties with no issue. Only thing is, they don't do reservations & only walk-ins. We visited before the kitchen closed & ordered the following dishes: - Jahunger noodles - Meefen noodles - Kavap (lamb kebab skewers) - Hand-made Lamb Dumpling (7) - Not Your Average Honey Cake I had to try the Jahunger noodles again! When I ordered this for takeout, I really enjoyed the flavor but was skeptical about it because I couldn't believe how small the portion was... or if I got skimped because it was a delivery order? I feel like I did get a slightly bigger portion dining in vs. takeout but that could just be me! Anyways, I loved the chewiness of the noodles & the spice! The spice is subtle & hits you at the end of each bite. The Meefen noodles were my favorite. We were warned by our server that this was a spicier dish but luckily, we LOVE spicy. Yeah, it's definitely more spicy than anything else we ordered but I didn't find it to be that spicy. LOVED THE FLAVOR for this dish! I liked that it was spicy but didn't have a bitter note like how Szechuan mala dishes can be with the peppercorn. The sauce tasted like it was made with chili bean sauce & sweet bean paste. Enjoyed the noodles a lot too! Super bouncy and very similar to udon noodles. The kavap lamb skewer kebabs were cooked well. Didn't taste gamey at all & felt like they were seasoned well. Very strong in cumin flavor. The hand-made lamb dumplings was a dish I personally could do without. I don't typically like when dumplings are wrapped this way and when we received this dish, the dumplings were cold. I don't enjoy cold food, plus the filling was very bland. Lastly, we had the Not Your Average Honey Cake for dessert. This was so good! I'm honestly not even a cake person usually but after seeing so many great reviews about it, I had to try it. It's not too sweet & was perfectly moist. Overall, the food was more or less solid! I think next time I won't be ordering appetizers... I feel like they're expensive for what you get here unfortunately & not worth it. $15 for 3 tiny lamb skewers is insane & $13 for lamb dumplings that were cold and bland. I did enjoy the noodle dishes & the honey cake though! We don't mind prices of food if the dishes are good. The appetizers are not worth it, in my opinion. Service: It was meh. My guess is our server's name is Elden, as noted on the receipt? He was a taller individual who just looked like he didn't want to be there. Originally, he had us wait a few minutes to prep the table and when he brought us to the table, it had just been cleaned. I go to sit down & immediately he goes "No!", with no explanation for why. He proceeded to move all the tables around, remove the extra chairs aggressively, and place the utensils and napkins. Throughout the meal, he was just staring at us to see if we had finished or were finishing up. Felt super rushed essentially. I understand we came close to kitchen close time but we ordered quickly & left before restaurant closing time. I thought it was interesting though because many of the tables around us arrived and ordered just before us or a minute after us & by the time we left, people were still eating... Lots of attitude & many of our interactions with him (for water, etc), he was nonverbal but his face was loud! Very passive aggressive from start to finish. So, I didn't particularly like that. And not to mention, we paid for the bill while we were still eating & after he took the bill and tip (20% cash), he was much happier + nicer to us... too funny. Overall rating: Food- 3.8-4/5 Service- 1/5 Likely won't be back for a while.

Delicious restaurant in cambridgeport with the basic decor and plants hanging on the wall. The service was very good and although it's walk-in only, I was able to get a table pretty quickly on a weekday evening around 6:15 pm! Have to try their most popular dishes, the samsa as an appetizer, the Jahunger noodles and lamb on the land dish. Watch out for the Sichuan peppers - they will numb your mouth temporarily - and you can ask for a dish without them. I highly recommend the green beans as well! One of the biggest downsides was the temperature, it was freezing although we were indoors and it was warm outside. I was shivering, and I asked them to turn down the air, but I was told that if it was turned down, it would get really hot.

I've never had Uyghur cuisine before, so I was curious to try this spot, and the Bib Gourmand put it on my radar. Other people must have had the same idea, because the place was absolutely packed on the Saturday night I went. It was a 30 minute wait for a table of 3, and I suspect the wait would have been trimmed if we'd come before 6pm. The menu looked so delicious with many of the meat dishes customizable to be made vegan with tofu for protein. I recognized some of my favorite dishes my family would often make including the green onion pancakes, thinly sliced potatoes, and green beans. I quickly gave up on trying multiple things because the portion sizes were quite generous. We ended up trying the jahunger noodles (very Szechuan pepper heavy which my friends were unfamiliar with and couldn't finish) while I got the ding ding noodles which tasted amazing. The noodles were cut in little bits which was unique, and the flavors were wonderful. Everyone loved the green onion pancakes, and we all tried plum juice too which most people loved, but one of my friends thought the flavor was a bit strange. It's sweet and with an herby and earthy aftertaste that is unique. Overall, jncluding the drinks, appetizer, and tip, the entire meal was just $40 per person. I loved the flavors myself, but some people unfamiliar with the cuisine may find the palette different. I also want to harp on how phenomenal and respectful the service was even when the restaurant was bustling. 5/5 - would definitely recommend this spot.

Lamb On Dry Land and Meefen

I would recommend arriving one hour before you actually want to eat because there will definitely be a wait. My friend and I shared two dishes. I was a little hesitant to get the Lam on dryland because I'm usually not a fan of Lam however they did a really nice job seasoning the meat it was very tender, and didn't have any of that weird aftertaste that I typically don't like. the crispy pieces of naan bread with the lamb was something I've never had before and I thought it was deliciously unique. The meefan was also really good. We asked both of the dishes to be spicy, and I appreciate when a restaurant actually adds a kick when you ask for it!

Firstly, be sure to come early especially if coming in the weekend. The lines tend to get long and they will put you on a waitlist. Your whole party needs to be present when you get seated. Food was good. I thought it was a tad too salty and spicy for my taste. Be aware that the chicken stew has a lot of bones in it. I liked the texture of its hand pulled noodles though. My favorite dish would have to be their honey cake. It was so good that we decided to recreate that cake at home! Definitely not your typical cake. It has just the right amount of sweetness and moisture.

I love this place! The interior decor is so cute and the whole restaurant has such a cozy, welcoming vibe. It's pretty casual too so need to be super dressed up. It is first-come/first-serve, so definitely be prepared to wait during peak hours. In my experience: - party of 2 at 5 PM: 5 min wait - party of 2 at 7:30 PM: 1 hour wait The food is truly the best Uyghur food I've ever had. Everything is so flavorful. For the app, I really liked the lamb dumplings but the Samsa was a pass for me - too much meat for my taste. For a main, I highly recommend the Original Meefen--the spice and aromatics are incredible. If you don't love spicy food as much, the Jahunger noodles are a flavorful option that won't burn your mouth! And don't leave without getting the Honey Cake!! 10/10 experience.

Jahunger's entrees were no joke delicious. You could probably close your eyes then choose any entree on their menu and it would be amazing. Some recs are definitely their Jahunger Noodles, Spicy Tiger & Not your typical Honey Cake. The flavors for all these dishes were incredible! Their appetizers (skewers & dumplings) didn't taste that special and were overpriced though. Main downsides were service was terribly slow, the restaurant was stuffy and the parking situation was difficult to say the least. Also they're rather pricey, but everything is really filling. If you happen to be around the area, it's worth venturing out for a visit.

Food: three stars For drinks we got a San pao tai. It basically just tasted like chamomile tea, we could barely taste the dried fruits inside. It was good to have something hot when it was raining outside, but we had mixed feelings when they put hot water in a plastic tea pot and didn't peel the longans. For starters, we got a Kavap which tasted pretty good. For entrees, we got a JAHUNGER noodle, Meefen, and a stir-fried beans. Both the beef and the noodle in the JAHUNGER noodle were too chewy for us. The Meefen tasted sour and a bit bitter, like they've put some kind of Chinese spice in it. The stir-fried beans were too salty for us. For dessert, we got the honey cake which was the best out of all and prob the only one we'd reorder. The cake was moist , a bit on the dense side, and not too sweet. It comes with a scoop of coffee ice cream. We really liked this one. Service: five stars Servers were nice and welcoming. We got seated after waiting for ten minutes. Ambiance: five stars It's a small but warm restaurant with cute decor.

I'm so happy Jahunger got featured on the bib gourmand, so well deserved! They get a little busy so be prepared to wait a while if you go at peak hours but it's worth it. We tried a lot of dishes, but the ones that stood out to me were the polo, Jahunger noodle and honey cake. The chicken stew was great, but very spicy! The polo was my favorite, it tasted very authentic. Service is fast once you get seated. Definitely a must-go if you're in the Cambridge area!

I love that sound so much as someone in the culinary profession who can tell when and what different ingredients are added to complete the one dish being ordered. The seasoning was only slightly sweet, perfectly complementing the freshness of the meat. These were the best Xiaolongbao I've had in the US, although the skin was a bit soggy and unappetizing. Pork & Leeks Dumpling: My friend ordered these, opting for pan-fried dumplings. They were piping hot, incredibly fragrant, and the meat filling was tender. The chive flavor was mild, which is perfect since I don't like chives lol. A touch of vinegar was definitely needed to cut through the richness! Sliced Fish Szechuan Style: Calling them "sliced fish" is a bit of a stretch; "fish fillets" would be more accurate. They were probably made with basa fish, and the fish was incredibly tender, almost melting in your mouth. The broth was fragrant, and the numbing and spicy flavor was authentic, earning high praise from my friend from Sichuan. Lamb with Ginger & Scallions Onion: A perfectly good Beijing dish, but it was prepared with the feel of a Cantonese stir-fry, which suited my Cantonese palate perfectly. The lamb was incredibly tender, with no gamey taste, and stir-fried until the oil was visible but the sauce wasn't thickened. The sweetness of the onions and carrots added to the complex flavor. Sweet and Sour Pork Tenderloin: Just average, like a typical Shanghai style home-cooked meal. Nothing special to say. General Gao's Tofu 左宗豆腐: My first time trying the famous "General Tso" (I don't know why they call it General Gao) series of American Chinese cuisine. It felt similar to the technique used in Shanghainese "Kung Pao宮保." A slightly sweet and sour flavor with the aroma and mild spiciness of dried chili peppers, the ingredients were deep-fried and coated in a thick sauce. The tofu was overcooked, the edges were hard, and the sauce became a bit watery towards the end. This dish was just okay.

Loaded with spicy minced pork, minced garlic, onions, chives, sesame sauce, dried chili pepper, and a perfectly poached egg, this bowl was a beautiful marriage of flavor and texture. The savory minced pork stole the show, while the chewy hand-pulled noodles held onto every bit of that rich, nutty, spicy sauce. Just when I thought the experience was over, I learned the best part was still to come. After finishing the noodles, you're encouraged to ask for a bowl of rice and mix it into the remaining sauce. It transforms the leftovers into an entirely new dish, making sure not a single drop of flavor goes to waste. The entire meal felt like an adventure--one I genuinely didn't want to end. I've always considered myself a ramen guy, but this experience reminded me that it's worth stepping outside your comfort zone every now and then. Japanese cuisine really is the gift that keeps on giving, and I'm here for it!

I was pleasantly surprised by my experience here!…read more We got the signature miso ($15) ramen and the red devil ($17) ramen. Since we were here on a weekday we tried the ramen combos (+$2 each) and added a tsukune bun and 2 pieces of chicken karaage. The tsukune bun was delicious! The chicken meatball was so juicy and the bun came with a zesty horseradish/wasabi sauce. The karaage was also quite crispy and tasty, although I wish it came with the same sauce that the tsukune bun had. The ramen was delicious. Although their chashu was lean, it was so tender that it melted in my mouth. The ground pork was also surprisingly delicious! I often find that the ground pork at other ramen spots is forgettable, but the ground pork here was rich, perfectly seasoned, and not too dry. I'm a sucker for soft-boiled eggs and the egg here made my day (I might even order extra egg next time!). I was actually not a fan of the corn fritter. It had a fun texture but I would have preferred loose corn in my ramen. However, a lot of other reviewers seem to love it. The ramen noodles were nicely al dente and both broths I tried were very rich. The red devil is no joke! To me it was more spicy than the classic buldak spicy chicken ramen. While the red devil broth was very spicy, I could still taste the nuttiness from the miso. I look forward to trying their other ramen and dishes.

My BF and I really want to love Muku given its proximity to us and that it's a family-run business,…read morebut we've gone twice and have been disappointed with the flavors. The karaage was awesome, but our ramen broths both times have felt lacking, compared to other ramen spots. The flavors are not deep and sometimes the broth feels bland. The noodles also have the texture of linguine, rather than true ramen noodles. This place isn't bad, but we probably won't be back for a ramen fix, given the other options around.
