Perillas has one focus: Quality Food. With three locations in Boston, their recently opened spot in Lower Allston is quietly tucked away near Shabu Shabu Spring. A casual Korean kitchen with just a couple people with food that packs a punch. The staff was very welcoming when I walked in getting my order and answering my questions about the menu. There is also a kiosk to place your order as well when they get busy. They have a few tables to sit down and eat but I feel like they get a lot of pickup and to go orders as well. I had seen some of their bowls in pictures online and they looked very small but in person they have so much food in them. My friend and I got our own bowls and shared a quesadilla and I ate most of the quesadilla but realized I was too full to eat the other 90% of the bowl lol. Rookie mistake but the leftovers slapped. My favorite thing for sure was the bulgogi beef quesadilla which was just so flavorful and filling. The bowls were all delicious from the different sides it came with to the side sauces which were all unique in their flavor. I need those recipes. I will need to check out the haymarket location as well as they have some different items there like kimbap. My favorite things had to be the spicy garlic cucumbers and the Yum-Yum aioli. The portion size was substantial, and the dish was so flavorful. I was pleasantly surprised. Tried it for takeout, had the Bulgogi and it was kind of bland, service was non-contact and smooth.

Came here during the opening and was pretty disappointed, tbh. I was really excited at first, but the first trials didn't do justice. There was soooo much rice and not much meat/veggies in these bowls, it wasn't balanced at all. Not worth the price I paid for it for sure. I felt the same with my friend's bowl. read more

Don't let the zoomed in Instagram photos fool you. The rice bowls actually aren't that big in person. However, I did feel full 30 minutes after while drinking water to expand the rice in my stomach. Definitely an interesting meat to rice ratio . The pickled kimchi cucumbers were really good and refreshing. I got the Beef Galbi. Although it was good, I wish it was flame grilled to have char marks on it and some more pieces. Probably get more bang for your buck with the pork belly. Too bad they don't have self serve gochujang sauce to smother it in or sesame oil to dip. Serving dessert here is kind of strange because 1000% the ice cream will be served before the main dishes. The chocolate tiramisu coffee taco is really great and there is a cake consistency to the filling so it isn't melting all over the place. Highly recommended, but at $7.50 per taco, it will be a rare treat instead of a daily diabetic fuel. Definitely the price matches supply, so check if it's in stock since there's limited quantity. Overall, I wish it was a little cheaper and had better serving sizes, but I'm a gluttonous cheapskate Asian who hunts for deals. Definitely need more Korean restaurants in the Allston/Brighton area to increase competition. I still can't believe Perillas are some Korean herbal plant. Thought it was an Italian restaurant name. At this restaurant I placed my order at the counter and waited for it to be prepared. It is right next to Star Market so it here is plenty of parking. I thought the portion was small based on the price. Maybe I am expecting to much. The dining area was bright with all the windows. I had barbecued pork with a side salad and cucumbers. Very tasty bowl and one bowl was enough to feed two of us (unless you are super hungry then go for it!). My son loves this place and he eats what I can't finish. The tortilla style pork wrap was tasty but way too much red sauce-grease coming out of it. Don't wear white eating that. Such a nice addition to lower Allston! With the lack of casual Korean food in Boston, this fills a much needed gap in the food scene. They serve up Korean style rice bowls that are the perfect size for a quick meal. The pickled veggies are done really well (those cucumbers) and the meat has always been good. this spot is very yummy! the menu offerings is smaller at this locations, but they are very generous with the portion. i got the beef bulgogi bibimbap and the bibimbap with spicy pork (they were out of beef that day and substituted w/ spicy pork). both items were delicious and BIG. i had enough for lunch the next day. they also offer spicy or mild sauce for the bibimbap. neither are spicy, the mild is like spicy mayo--so just for the spicy sauce. the staff are also super sweet and quick! overall, i would recommend this spot if you are in the boston public market. for the price, i think you get a flavorful and FILLING meal! read more

Located on Western Ave across from the Brighton Mills area and right next to a Honeycomb Creamery! A small little spot that offers Korean bowls that make a well balanced meal. I ordered online through Toasttab and picked up a short rib bowl. It comes with kimchi cucumbers, salad, rice, and a sweet sauce to pour over everything. The packaging itself is deceiving, since the bowl looks quite small, but it's actually quite deep and there's a lot to this bowl. The meat is tender and well flavored, while the kimchi cucumbers add the perfect amount of spice to the dish. Give it a good mix and you have a little bit of each in every bite you take. They also offer bibimbap, pork belly, spicy pork bowls, and well as spicy pork quesadilla. Overall, a good experience if you're in the mood for a rice bowl. read more

I've now done takeout for lunch here twice and have been very impressed. I've tried the bulgogi and samgyupsal(pork belly). The bulgogi is well marinated and very tender. I liked the samgyupsal even better because it's so fatty. The cucumber kimchi is also really tasty and pairs well with the rich pork belly. The house bbq paste(ssamjang?) was really flavorful and garlicky. After a string of bad experiences with takeout rice(too mushy or too dry), I really appreciated the rice which was very good(I know its just rice but it makes a difference when cooked properly). I now am eager to go in person as the food is probably even better when super fresh and eaten in the restaurant. read more

I got the bulgogi bibimbap and my fiance got the pork belly. As a note, if you order onsite it seems they have ice cream as well. Our order was ready right on time. The place is small with some outdoor seating but we took ours to go. First, I'll start by saying the taste was good. There was a good helping of vegetables and the bowl wasn't drizzled in sauce, which personally I like. The part that got this place three stars was the tiny portion of meat given. I think I only got two full pieces of beef in my bulgogi and for $11-12 that is a rip off in my book. Additionally, both my fiance and I were still hungry after finishing our bowls. I got the bulgogi bibimbap at the Perillas in the Boston Public Market and it was SO delicious. I told my boyfriend that it was probably the best food I've had in Boston so far. Waited 15 minutes for a fresh batch of rice and the girl who meticulously prepared my bowl was incredibly nice to me & even gave me a water bottle on the house! I wish I got her name, but hopefully I'll see her again when I go back sometime soon & update this review to give her the props she deserves. :) definitely try this place out! read more

Yumm, a great addition to the lower allston area. We stopped by for a late lunch on their opening day. There is a kiosk that you order at and they will text you when your order is ready. Everything is seamlessly contactless, very covid safe. I got the bulgogi rice bowl with a soft boiled marinated egg. Def get the egg, perfectly soft boiled. The veggies were fresh and crunchy. Went in for a quick bite after work and was not disappointed! Food was out within 10 minutes of waiting. Kalbi bowl: Kalbi was cut into cubes and was grilled nicely with a slight sweetness and rich flavor. Was not overly fatty which is what I prefer. Cucumber pickles were good. I wish there was another more astringent flavor in the bowl like some additional shredded spring onion on top to add to an already delicious bowl. Also providing more gochujang sauce would be nice as there is a lot of rice that is waiting to be drenched in sauce. Bulgogi bowl: I only had two bites of this but it was really good. This bowl had what seemed to be like a spicy mayo sauce and it was plentiful. The meat had less of a grill flavor to it but was still cooked well and I also enjoyed the vegetables included in the bowl. On average the bowls were in the $13-16 range which admittedly is a bit on the pricier side but the quality was good so I didn't mind paying that price. I think I would probably come back for the bulgogi bowl next time over the kalbi based on it being cheaper and comparable in quality to the kalbi. read more

I ordered the grilled pork belly and it was good, but I wish they cut it a little smaller like the picture. I think the restaurant can add more items to their menu as there is not much to choose from. When I was getting towards the end of my bowl the amount of rice I had left to meet was a little sad and I found myself wishing I had a handful more of meat.
