Well I have been looking forward to trying this place. We got 12 wings 1/2 spicy 1/2 Korean bbq a side of kimchi. The good: I liked the kimchi. (And the pickled radishes) The not so good: the wings. They tasted almost fake. I was expecting a stickler, crunchier and fully cooked feel. Instead it tasted like a fake wing with a lot of breading. The flavor of the Korean bbq was just ok. For the price and the quality I don't think I would go back. Primanti brothers has a sweet/spicy flavor that I like better and similarly fake-ish wings I can get for a lot less. Too bad.

6 wings in Korean BBQ (left) and 6 in Yangnyeom, $16.95. Good but need to be more Korean-fried-chicken crispy.

I've tried Bonchon years ago in MD. It finally made its way to the area last year (in the fall of 2023). It's another nice addition to the Capital City Mall. BTW, I am happy that the Harrisburg area is turning more "metropolitan" as more and more trendier ethnic establishments come to town: Boba Cha and Bonchon in the mall, and I heard that Kongfu Tea will be opening up on Carlisle Pike. But it stills plays catch-up to Lancaster and York. I digress. We tried the 12 piece wings ($16.95). For choices of sauce we skipped the more familiar soy sauce and the spicy, and opted for the more curious Korean BBQ and the Yangnyeom. You're only allowed to choose up to 2 in an order BTW. It took less than 5 minutes, I kind of wished it took longer so we'd know for sure they were made to order. The batch were an assortment of wings and drumettes (3 and 9, respectively.) They weren't pronouncedly crispy like Korean fried chicken are known for, but at least they were temperature hot. The Korean BBQ taste good but kind of went unnoticed, while the Yangnyeom sauce which is garlicky, sweet, and (not so) spicy. I prefer and recommend the latter. Not a bad outing. The only miss today was the crust could have been crispier and thicker as should be the case if you deep-fry twice.

Harrisburg should recognize this place more as some of the best chicken around. We don't have many fried chicken wing spots around, and when you think fried chicken it's usually heavy. However Korean chicken tends to be lighter. This is a thinner and lighter coating on the chicken, it's crispy, not much flavor, but it's juicy and the sauces do the talking. The wings are a bit bigger than other places. Also, if you get the drums on their menu, THEY'RE BIG. Don't order too much. Soy Garlic and Spicy are both great options. Get the spicy mayo and yemyeong to dip. Fries good, the seasoned ones are even better. The corn is interesting as well with a bit of cheese and something else I can't remember. We definitely need more Korean chicken spots in Harrisburg, and this place should get more recognition. I was debating between 4 or 5 stars, I didn't want to give it 5 because the sides aren't anything special, but I'm at 4.5 because the chicken is that good.

First time trying Bonchon, I ordered the Classic Crunch 6 PC MIXED: 4 WINGS + 2 DRUMS , PICKLED RADISH and COLESLAW. Chicken was juicy and crunchy A+.

Bonchon newly opened in the food court at Capital City Mall. I had high expectations for this chain Korean fried chicken experience, however it definitely fell flat for me with every dish. From best to worst: 1. The huge chicken drums had a thick crust to them and although the sauce had good flavor the chicken itself was bland and dry. 2. The Tteokboki or rice cake dish also had a nice spicy kick, but lacked depth flavor you would usually find in this dish-- it was just spice. 3. Seasoned fries was nearly $8 bucks and we barely got a half container-- the quantity similar to small fries at McDonald's. Seasoning was not flavorful at all. Waste of $$. 4. Last but definitely the worst, was the Japchae or glass noodles. Noodles were over cooked and completely BROKEN into small pieces. Veggies were soggy and mushy. The quantity was pitiful for almost $18 bucks! The only good thing about this dish was they used bulgogi seasoning so if you like that taste you may like this. But take it from me, NOT worth the price tag. All in all, I would rate this experience 4/10. Maybe because it's new and their testing things out. I would give them another chance in a few months to see if things change.

We decided to take a drive in search of something tasty, and our adventure led us to Brewhouse Grill in Camp Hill, PA. From the outside, it looked like a small neighborhood bar. But once we stepped inside, the vibe completely changed. Bright lights, a welcoming atmosphere, and a lively bar area. The hostess greeted us right away, which was a relief since my hunger was hitting hard. We checked out the specials and ordered two classics: a flatbread pizza and a Philadelphia cheesesteak. As an Eagles fan, I couldn't resist testing how a Harrisburg area cheesesteak stacked up against Philly's best. And if you know me, you know I take pizza seriously think ninja turtle levels of dedication.‍ The pizza came out crisp and well-done, but the cheese was a bit skimpy, leaving me wanting more. The cheesesteak, unfortunately, didn't quite hit the mark either. Luckily, a cold beer and the friendly staff helped balance out the disappointment. What impressed me most was the atmosphere. Brewhouse Grill works for just about anyone: families looking for a quiet meal, sports fans wanting to catch a game at the bar, or summer crowds enjoying the covered deck with a DJ. That summertime setup sounds like a whole different experience, and I'm eager to come back when the weather warms up. Final Verdict: The food didn't wow me, but the service and atmosphere make Brewhouse Grill worth checking out especially in the summer when the deck and DJ bring the place to life.
