    MoMo's BBQ

Just got out the lab, was dehydrated and way pass lunch. Found MoMo's around the corner and wow, this was so delicious. Restored me and got me back on track. The original sauces were unbelievable. Highly recommend to stop by here!!!

Well. I wanted this to be a superstar experience. It was a complete bummer. I was a huge fan of MoMo's when they were downtown. I grabbed lunch to go, had lunch meetings, took my teams there for lunch, got takeout for dinner, etc. Never had any issues. I loved several of their dishes. The wings with the Alabama white sauce was my favorite dish. Today, hubby calls to tell me they have reopened in the Rossmoyne area. Since it was lunch time, I immediately drove to the new location. It's in a strip mall with a few other shops. The location is significantly smaller than the place they had in Harrisburg. There are about 4-5 booths that seat 4 people. When I walked in everything was taken so I got my food to go. The menu is much smaller than the old one. I'm posting photos for those who are interested. Unfortunately, they did not have the wings I loved from the last location so I opted for something different. I chose the 3 Little Pigs sandwich for $9. They handed me the sandwich in a bag, ready to go, and I stopped at the sauce station to get some white sauce. They warned me that the sandwich was "dry". That normally means it doesn't have any sauce and you need to add your own. What they failed to say was that "dry" meant dry (in the traditional sense) meaning everything was dried out. (I will upload photos.) The smoked sausage was shriveled like the hot dog that gets forgotten on the grill at the end of a picnic, and when you go to pack things up it's a wrinkled-up, dry, chewy thing. The bacon had almost no taste and by volume was about half a slice. The pulled pork tasted like it was made in a slow cooker then left in an oven for a few hours. Parts of it was like jerky. It required lots of chewing. Plus, a few pieces of the pork tasted completely burned. Not like the yummy burnt ends you get at BBQ places, but like actually burned to the point they made all of the pork taste bitter. So, at this point I was completely disappointed. My dreams were dashed. I wish I could provide a happy ending, but I can't. I thought the Alabama white sauce would wash away all my tears. I was wrong. It was so, so, so, so, so salty . . . if I was in the restaurant I would have gotten a different sauce. Unfortunately, it was the only sauce I had for the sandwich so I had to eat it. The sandwich was soooooo dry without it, it was hard to chew. I did have a small taste of the Sweet Mo's and the Tangy Texas sauces, and they were decent. I don't normally post so soon after eating a meal. I usually want to reflect for a while. However, I want to make sure the restaurant gets this feedback in the hopes they make adjustments. It is their first week at this location so I'm cutting them some slack. I really wanted to give the food a single star. However, the place is nice and the service was good so I decided at least 2 stars for now. Just to make sure I didn't just have an off day with my taste-buds, I let my husband taste everything except the bacon. He was also a big fan of the MoMo's in Harrisburg and after each bite of what I gave him today, his response was, "you actually ate that???"

2 meat platter. Cold and dry as heck pulled pork, rock hard brisket, soggy mushy green beans and ok slaw.

By the way, "Kimchee" is not a misspell; it's actually the Korean spelling to the more popularized Japanese spelling, "kimchi". Kimchi is a banchan/appetizer by itself but can accompany anything to kick it up a notch.  It's also a great source of probiotics. I most often add it to my rice dishes being Asian American and all, but I am looking forward to try it on a burger next time I get a chance -- a tip I just heard from Kevin the co-owner.  Joyce ("the" kimchee girl?) & Kevin operate their business with heart and soul and I won't hesitate to recommend that you to give their kimchi a taste. Kimchee Girl takes online orders for its kimchi products, but it also sets up tents outside of its office during the week and offers BBQ lunch boxes such as bone-in pork chops, kalbi short ribs, and (I haven't tried) Kimchee dogs. All of them of course feature their flagship Napa cabbage kimchi.  They also do pop-ups from time to time at events and farmers markets. You can also find their products locally in retail stores such as the Cornerstone Coffeehouse and the Healthy You Café.

You can tell the owner takes great pride in his establishment, as well as his culture and sharing it with the customers. We started with the fried dumplings and Kimbap, which were fantastic. We then went to our mains, which were the Yööƙ Gal Tang and Gangjeong, which i highly recommend both. The Yook was a delightfully spicy soup that has quite the kick to it and is loaded with noodles, onions and vegetables; it is also served with rice, kimchi and pickled radishes. The Gangjeong also had a good kick of spice to it as well as a pleasant sweet sauce, it was served with rice as well. All in all, we will be back and can't wait to try the Korean fried chicken. Take a look at the pictures on the walls, they tell the story of a traveler who has climbed many peaks.

Both were really good. Tasted fresh and flavorful. I would have asked for the kimchi pancakes to be fried just a little longer, but that's just my preference. The kimbap was delicious and putting a little splash of soy sauce makes it even better. For our main course we had the Dol Sot Bibimbap and the Pork Belly. Both are exceptional. Great flavors and portions are pretty good. Prices are a little high, but what isn't these days. The food is well worth the price. Definitely one of my favorites places to go to for Korean food and to marvel at the state license plate wall. Owner was a professional mountain climber and has amassed a lot of memorabilia and photos of his climbs all on display for customers to look at. Definitely a great place to check out when in Camp Hill.

Rolled into Mechanicsburg Breakfast & Pizzeria at the extremely conventional breakfast hour…read moreof...5pm on a Friday. I was the only diner in the place, which honestly made me feel like I had just rented out a private pizza studio. Bonus: plenty of free parking right out front because it's tucked into a little strip mall. Before I even ordered, the menu caught my attention--an eclectic mashup of pizza and tacos, with breakfast versions of both served all day long. It's honestly the kind of menu you'd expect to stumble upon in a dream where the universe says, "Go ahead, choose joy." I originally planned to be "responsible" and just grab a slice to test the waters, but they didn't have any slices ready and would've had to make an entire pizza just for me. That felt like a sign from the Universe to stop lying to myself. If they were firing up the oven anyway, why not go big? So I took the cosmic hint and ordered their semi-Instagram-famous Mexican Breakfast Pizza: eggs, chorizo, mozzarella, cheddar... a 10" "personal" pizza (their wording, not mine) for $14. Twist my arm. Drinks live in the cooler by the door and you just grab whatever you want and pay at the end. As I was mid-debate between soda and water, the guy behind the counter popped out from behind the curtain and said, "Hey, since you're getting a breakfast pizza, if you want juice... orange, cranberry, apple... you can have it!" Sir. Apple juice is basically the secret key to my heart. SOLD. He also mentioned they have games and coloring books available--apparently dominoes is the crowd favorite here. Unexpected and charming. A little sign on my table caught my eye: "If you love it, leave a nice review." Challenge accepted. This place was already earning every star. Placed my order at 5:02, snagged a seat by the window to watch the sunset fade and the traffic chaos whirl by. The sign on the wall said "GOOD vibes, GREAT flavors," and let me tell you: an accurate mission statement. At 5:20, my pizza emerged in all its glory--and it. was. stunning. The crust hit that sweet middle ground between thin and deep dish: sturdy, doughy, beautifully crisped on the edges, and wonderfully yeasty. The eggs-to-cheese ratio was perfection, and the chorizo? A knockout. Spicy, chunky, far more personality than the usual breakfast-pizza sausage situation. I ate 1.5 slices and boxed up the rest, which will easily feed me for another three days because, yes, I believe in leftovers as a lifestyle. As I was leaving, the man behind the counter introduced himself--Sebastian--and he had been nothing but attentive, kind, and genuinely invested in making sure I had a great experience. Service like that sticks with you. Total damage: $22.26 including tip. For great food, even better service, and days of leftovers? That's what I call winning. I'll definitely be back--probably at another totally normal breakfast hour.

Order at the counter and your food is brought out promptly. The owner made sure everything was good and kept asking if I needed anything. Making customers feel important is, well, important, so I'm glad they aim to please. Pizza slice was really good, could've been a bit more well done, but that's my preference. The birria quesadilla and (thick) consommé were out of this world excellent. Can't wait to come back and have that again and try some other dishes. All day breakfast is cool and a nice option to have in this area. Try this place and see for yourself.
