Momo's is back!!! Very glad he reopened, I used to frequent the one in downtown Harrisburg. He's changed things up a little bit, very focused on being a quick, delicious lunch spot versus the bar/restaurant it used to be. All the meats you'd expect, except he's not doing the smoked chicken wings every day like they used to. I had the brisket, pork, and chicken today and it was great! Good seasoning on everything, and the sauces are really good. Alabama White is awesome on chicken, and the Smokey bbq and tangy Texas was perfect on the brisket. The sides are good too. Had the potato salad and cole slaw, both spot on. Tons of sand which options to choose from and good for vegetarians in the way of portobello and salad options. I'm going to guess that this place will start getting very busy. Limited seating in here, so get there early! read more

To be fair, I've never tasted the food. It may be delicious, but I couldn't get past the rude, unfriendly "gentleman" at the counter. I wanted to place a catering order for a Sunday event and his first words were "we're not open on Sunday." I explained I knew that and would pick up my order on Saturday and his response: "we're not open on Saturday either. We have two weddings." He had no idea what size order I wanted to place and the place was totally empty during lunch hour. Find someone more pleasant when you want to spend your money. read more

Well. I wanted this to be a superstar experience. It was a complete bummer. I was a huge fan of MoMo's when they were downtown. I grabbed lunch to go, had lunch meetings, took my teams there for lunch, got takeout for dinner, etc. Never had any issues. I loved several of their dishes. The wings with the Alabama white sauce was my favorite dish. Today, hubby calls to tell me they have reopened in the Rossmoyne area. Since it was lunch time, I immediately drove to the new location. It's in a strip mall with a few other shops. The location is significantly smaller than the place they had in Harrisburg. There are about 4-5 booths that seat 4 people. When I walked in everything was taken so I got my food to go. The menu is much smaller than the old one. I'm posting photos for those who are interested. Unfortunately, they did not have the wings I loved from the last location so I opted for something different. I chose the 3 Little Pigs sandwich for $9. They handed me the sandwich in a bag, ready to go, and I stopped at the sauce station to get some white sauce. They warned me that the sandwich was "dry". That normally means it doesn't have any sauce and you need to add your own. What they failed to say was that "dry" meant dry (in the traditional sense) meaning everything was dried out. (I will upload photos.) The smoked sausage was shriveled like the hot dog that gets forgotten on the grill at the end of a picnic, and when you go to pack things up it's a wrinkled-up, dry, chewy thing. The bacon had almost no taste and by volume was about half a slice. The pulled pork tasted like it was made in a slow cooker then left in an oven for a few hours. Parts of it was like jerky. It required lots of chewing. Plus, a few pieces of the pork tasted completely burned. Not like the yummy burnt ends you get at BBQ places, but like actually burned to the point they made all of the pork taste bitter. So, at this point I was completely disappointed. My dreams were dashed. I wish I could provide a happy ending, but I can't. I thought the Alabama white sauce would wash away all my tears. I was wrong. It was so, so, so, so, so salty . . . if I was in the restaurant I would have gotten a different sauce. Unfortunately, it was the only sauce I had for the sandwich so I had to eat it. The sandwich was soooooo dry without it, it was hard to chew. I did have a small taste of the Sweet Mo's and the Tangy Texas sauces, and they were decent. I don't normally post so soon after eating a meal. I usually want to reflect for a while. However, I want to make sure the restaurant gets this feedback in the hopes they make adjustments. It is their first week at this location so I'm cutting them some slack. I really wanted to give the food a single star. However, the place is nice and the service was good so I decided at least 2 stars for now. Just to make sure I didn't just have an off day with my taste-buds, I let my husband taste everything except the bacon. He was also a big fan of the MoMo's in Harrisburg and after each bite of what I gave him today, his response was, "you actually ate that???" read more

May not be fair that I spend considerable time in the south tasting BBQ and to expect a similar experience but the meat is completely devoid of any flavor. I ordered 1/2 lb of pulled pork, baked beans and cornbread. All in all it was a disappointment. The meat though moist tasted like the BBQ'r simply put meat on hard wood and expected a miracle. I believe no dry rub was added ahead of cook time or if it was not enough. $7 for 1/2 lb. I will say their Mike's Bama White Sauce was very delicious and flavored the food, but BBQ sauce should not be the source of flavor. I added a side of cornbread which was just average in n.y opinion and a side of their luau baked beans. Sides are $3 each. The beans were a little heavy on the sweet side. I cannot recommend this place due to the lack of flavor in what should be the star of the show. read more

If I could give a zero, I definitely would. Nobody wearing masks, no plexiglass, they act like there's no pandemic. If the food was good, I'd probably cut them some slack. I got the two meat platter. Pulled pork and brisket. The pork was very dry and I had to drowned it in sauce to make it edible. The brisket was like petrified would. The guy plated it by hand. He should have known you could drive nails with it. It went straight into the trash. Sorry, I'll never be back. read more

I finally made my long anticipated visit to Momo's, and it was on point in every way... Having worked over four decades in the restaurant business; I had one eye on how smooth the operation ran at Noon on Friday, incoming calls and customers are promptly addressed, with many take out orders ready, and the food coming out of the kitchen at a very snappy pace. Now I am on a very strict diet, everything on the menu is extremely tempting, my buddy had a 3 meat platter that was fit for Andre the Giant; and I had a Fried catfish sandwich with a perfectly breaded large filet of fish on a roll; the server/ Jack of all trades suggested the Alabama white sauce, it is great on the fish, but the cole slaw stole the show... and once the lunch rush was over, the chef gives the customers a holler.... Went and checked out momo bbq today because I worm within a short walk from there. The chicken and sausage were both fantastic. Flavorful with a nice kick of heat. The dry rub they use is delicious. The cole slaw couldve used some of that heat, but i like a spicier, more vinager-y slaw. The service was great, drink selection and pricing was about what one would expect (cheaper than dickeys with better food!) I will definitely go again! read more

Never had brisket served cold. Also was very dry. I never add sauce to brisket but I had to just to eat. I also thought it was a bit expensive. Brisket with 2 sides and a pulled pork sandwich was almost $50. read more

Husband won a gift card at a golf tournament; so today he brought home MoMo's bar b que pork. I consider myself a gourmet cook, and I thought this bar b que was extremely good. It was incredibly tender, moist, and very well picked/shredded...all top shelf pieces of pork. I read other reviews and just don't understand the lower ratings. We will definitely reorder! Mike knows BBQ and I couldn't be happier that he is back in business! He catered our wedding and my son's first birthday party - 7 years later and people still talk about the food from my wedding! The homemade BBQ chips are amazing. All of the sides are delicious bites of the south. My 5 year old is the pickesty of eaters and he asks to go eat here. You can't go wrong with anything but the Brisket with some Alabama White is by far my favorite. Get there early before the lunch rush or be prepared to wait in line and have to take it to go! I loved the loaded brisket potato and sandwich. It was definitely amazing. My mom got the pulled pork sandwich and she actually ate it all. Just ordered food from here, the food is gross Undercooked/overcooked non seasoned , overpriced.The Mac and cheese is bland , the meats are dried out with no flavor, the sausage were somewhat raw ,just absolutely disgusting. read more

Got lunch here last week and I had mixed feelings. I got the brisket sandwich and was disappointed to find it was not served hot, and the meat portion on the sandwich was undersized. I did enjoy the coleslaw and chips, and they really delivered on the Texas sauce, but the sandwich was underwhelming. It was clearly quality BBQ, smokey and tender, but not the quality I expected. I was excited to try this restaurant after hearing good things but I was disappointed in the sandwich I ordered, The Pittsburgher. It is described as smoked brisket topped with provolone, slaw, fries, lettuce, and tomato with white bbq sauce. The brisket was dry and did not have a smoked taste. There were only three fries on the entire sandwich! The slaw and white bbq sauce were good, though. I may try again and just chalk this up to them being in a new place and needing time to adjust accordingly. read more

The pulled pork was a too dry for my taste and did not have the best flavor. I had to load it up with sauce to cover for the dryness and bad taste. I probably will not be back. I'm not very experienced with smoking pork myself, but even my pulled pork tastes so much better than theirs. There was also a bit of a foul smell when I walked in, not sure what that was. I got the 3 little pigs sandwich and the smoked sausage was dried out the whole way through and was tough to chew. The bacon didn't have a smoked flavor so I think it was just regular bacon on top which was fine. The bacon and tangy Texas barbecue sauce is what earned 2 stars, none for the pulled pork or smoked sausage. Would not recommend. read more
