I enjoyed my meal, the food arrived warm and it was good, but was very expensive in my opinion for what we did get and our portions. Example: a 10 piece wings is $16.86 and yes it is on Postmates, but still is expensive. Seasoned fries are $8.58 and it goes on from there. Again, good food just high priced. Bonchon on Woodlawn you are literally my favorite. I am just going to dive right in. The Food - Bulgogi Beef Rice... an absolute must have. The rice is tender and fluffy. The beef is a nice thickness and seasoned to perfection. The rice also has some veggies- helps you to get over all the "fat" your consuming. Fried Chicken- fried chicken like you have never taste before. The crunch is uncanny. The taste is .... unforgettable. My wife and I always order the combo with spicy and garlic.... she prefers the spicy and I like to try a scorcher every now and again. The chicken is always perfectly fried. The wings are huge- not your average tiny wing from a sports bar. They are a decent size and we generally dont actually finish the order. I must add that we also over order every time... so we are assured to be able to have the experience twice. :):) Once you start getting that chicken from Bonchon... you start to not want fried chicken from anywhere else. read more

This was my first time trying Bonchon and I have to say I wasn't impressed. At first glance I was super excited because my daughter went to the one in Connecticut and she said it was amazing and the food looked great but this one here in Charlotte was "MID" to say the least the service was excellent but the food was waaay to spicy and the chicken was really fried to crispy and was dark and the soy dressing was way to salty. Needless to say I had high expectations and this place dropped the ball in my opinion. read more

Tried it for the fist time this afternoon. Excellent choices and the food quality was top notch. Eating environment is nice and the location was easy to find. Wait staff were attentive and so friendly. They made excellent recommendations. We had the dumplings, the Bibimpap Bulgogi and Chicken tacos and we were very impressed. My lady finished it off with Korean Donuts and Sauce and they are to die for. This place deserves more attention!! read more

This was my first visit to a Bonchon outside of the New York City area. My previous experiences at Bonchons there had been very favorable, so I was looking forward to hopefully the same here. After flying in from NYC and while en route to Tennessee, we popped into this location to fuel up before our 4-hour drive. We had a group of 4 adults and 3 kids and all of us had different hankerings on this day. Being the fan of Bonchon wings that I am, I didn't even need to think twice about what I ordered. The only question was who else wanted some and how many to get. After taking a commitment from each person as to how many they could eat, we wound up ordering 30 wings - 1/2 Spicy and 1/2 Soy Garlic. Oh, before I review the actual food, I must point out one thing which cracked us up. Being that we didn't want to lounge and have a long meal, we asked how long it would take to bring out the wings. Our server responded with "usually about 20-25 minutes if they're being made fresh but yours will take about 10 minutes or so". Now let that sink in for a minute. What were to think? That ours weren't going to be fresh?? I decided to not say anything and, instead, wait to see how our wings were when they were brought out, ready to send them back and ask for a whole new/fresh batch if they were below par. Instead, they came out piping hot and crispy, so we kept them. The spicy wings had great kick to them - a little too much for some in the group, but to each their own. The soy garlic had a much lighter flavor and is a good change of pace to the spicy ones. Overall, I'd give these wings a 3.5. My wife ordered bulgogi sliders which she seemed to enjoy. Another couple shared a sesame ginger salad which looked good and was a pretty good-sized serving. The group's favorite may have been the seasoned fries which went pretty quickly. Our server was efficient and nice. One suggestion I would make to this location is to get longer straws. When you put them into the plastic soda cups, they barely come up to the mouth of the cup. When I'm chomping away on wings and have dirty hands, the last thing I want to do is fish for my straw! All in all, I'd give this location and dining experience 3.5 stars (and round it up to 4). No major complaints but I've had better Bonchon experiences elsewhere. read more

I was going for 3 stars but those garlic soy chicken wings kicked it up to 4. We got 10 wings, half hot and half garlic soy. Let me tell you- the hot is SPICY HOT like lips on fire. The garlic soy were sooooo good though. Flavor was on point and they were so crispy! Bulgogi was a little bland. Korean tacos were meh. The prices are a little high for the smaller serving sizes but they did have the good, hard plastic to go containers that I will absolutely be reusing. Service was good but the curbside parking is very confusing. I had to walk down to the store to pick up. Food was ready right on time though. I live 3.5 miles away and went during 5-6p traffic so I did not count against anything for temperature. I would definitely order the wings again but that's probably it. read more

Welcome to the world of soy garlic, Korean fried chicken that is Bonchon. I was very excited when I found out this place is located in Charlotte and even better it's a couple miles down the street. Coming from California I've known about this place for some time and it's been awhile since I've tasted their unique flavor. I decided to place an order online for curbside pickup. I ordered the small, soy garlic wings and the medium, soy garlic drumsticks. What can say, I have a thing for soy garlic. As I arrived home and unpackaged my goods, I realized they forgot to add my pickled radish..... so so sad :( But I looked over and realized my soy garlic chicken was still there and ready for me to devour. The chicken was good, but the drumsticks were cold. Must have been sitting for a bit. If you've never tried their soy garlic flavor it tastes exactly how it sounds.... soy sauce, garlic, and lots of sugar that is sweetness in every bite. I'm not going to say it's the best fried chicken out there, but it's good and contains some unique flavors I'd recommend you try. Not sure about you but I would pick that any day over simple radishes. The pork belly buns tend to taste a little fishy so not sure if it is in the sauce but it is just ok. Not sure what happened to this location but it was scary. I called in an order and upon arrival decided to sit down and relax to eat it. Well the first thing I noticed was all of the liquor was absent. I asked about this and was told they had a problem during the pandemic and they were working to get it back. Oh, no biggie...but then after getting my meal i noticed after eating my fried shrimp shamu(spell check) that all of the lettuce was brown. All of it!!! And then the bucket to toss my bones in was extremely rusted. It slowly bothered me that they didnt even try to toss out the rusted buckets. This used to be the best location. read more

Super disappointing. The customer service started off pretty good, but our waitress went MIA after the food came out and she never followed up. Literally, never followed up even by the time we paid the bill at the front desk. Her name was Armani. Avoid her. I know I'm being harsh, but seriously, if you work in customer service industry then it's essential to follow-up and just be friendly. Be kind. That's it. You get a tip for just being kind and considerate. Anyways, we ordered 20 wings (15 soy garlic and 5 plain). Each of the pieces were about half the size of what we had at a different bonchon. Also the soy garlic was incredibly salty. So salty that my wife- who rarely eats rice- ate my bowl of rice to balance out the saltiness. When I brought it up to another waitress, she said, "oh, a lot of our customers think it's too salty but it's just the sauce," as she hastily walked away to avoid further questioning. If something doesn't taste right, then a restaurant should try to find middle ground and make it right. Not this place. They simply avoid responsibility. I even brought it up with another staff member when I checked out, but he did not even respond to that feedback. read more

My fave fried chicken place of all time! Bonchon is an international chain so I wasn't sure if it would be mediocre, but I've come to a couple of different locations in Charlotte for the past few years and am never disappointed. The drums, wings and tenders are to die for - the spicy sauce has a good kick, and my fave is the soy garlic. The sweet crunch sauce is just ok. The fries are crispy and delicious, but I always get the picked radish (they could be a little more generous with the lunch portion of radish). They have a bunch of lunch combos for $8.95, can't be beat! The non-fried chicken food items are decent, but I only ever get the chicken when I'm here. It stands out. Service is ok, friendly but tends to be slower. Love this place and seriously crave it at least once a month! read more

We ate here on a gloomy Sunday for lunch. The place was empty. Typical Asian modern decor. Very tall ceilings.Interior is very clean. Ordered the Salmon Avocado Ball, Potstickers, and Chicken Strips. Everything came out much quicker than expected and was cooked perfectly. Food can arrive slow when they are busy. We ordered delivery and for about a 40 minute wait, the food was still very good and hot/warm My friends got their potstickers (great flavor and still nice and crispy) and their steamed rice. I got their pork buns (awesome taste!) and their edamame which was a great portion. The only thing they forgot was the sauce to dip the pot stickers in...which is sometimes the best part. But perhaps it wasn't meant to be served with soy sauce to dip because of their signature Bonchon sauce however I feel as though little packets of sauce would have been better to at least have the option. Our first time here was really good wish the main dish would have came with more rice but over all a good spot if you LOVE spicy food everything down to the main dish and the chicken was amazing but very spicy if your into the heat this is definitely a good dish and place the main dish we got was called a Bulogogi dish so good love the seasoning and the veggies the Korean chicken was very crunchy definitely lives up to the name will recommend again if you eat spicy ! My first taste of Bonchon was a great experience. I tried my friend's soy garlic chicken wing and I really liked it! It was super crunchy and the seasoning was tasty. They give you huge pieces of chicken too. The spicy flavor is actually pretty spicy, from what I could tell by my friends' reactions, so order that one if you like spicy foods. I also tried seasoned fries and those were truly well seasoned. I personally ordered a bulgogi bibimbap and I liked it! I did have to add $2 to get the bulgogi beef but the big portion was worth it. What made this a 5-star experience was the impeccable service. I made a call just to ask for the wait time for a party of 8, without mentioning if I was actually planning to go, and when we arrived our table was already prepared with menus laid out. Our waitress was the best. She was on top of every part of our dining experience, and she was kind and humorous. read more

Mediocre at best. I was super excited to try this place. It was about time Charlotte got some Korean Fried Chicken. It took us a long time to try the place - just life happens and it has even taken me longer to write the review. Overall, I was just underwhelmed with the place. My experience with Korean Fried Chicken (KFC) is very different than this location. I have gone to Bonchon in other cities and my expectations were high. Typically, when going out to eat for KFC - you would call in your order before you get there. The reason for this is because they make every order fresh. It takes a good 30-40 minutes to cook the chicken the correct way. And if you don't call it in before you get there, they will tell you it will take that long. But normally this fine. You come with friends, have some drinks, some appetizers and all is well. So I was so confused when my chicken wings came out literally less than 10 minutes after ordering. They were flavored well & crispy. Just not that piping hot and fresh crispy that I am accustomed to. My man wanted to try the chicken strips so we did - and I say definitely pass on these. The wings win hands down. We also ordered seasoned fries - they were a frozen variety. Fried well and alright with us. On the chicken wings and strips - we ordered half and half on both. The soy was sweet and the spicy had a nice heat to it. The flavor was there and definitely did not disappoint. But it just blew my mind that they could have our chicken ready so fast. It means they do the first fry early and they do the 2nd fry when you order. This does not optimize for the best KFC in my opinion. The chicken wings were definitely the best part of our meal however. Also order the Tapoyaki - and these are not for the faint of heart. They have a fishy taste to them and this could not fair well with most but I really enjoyed them. They were warm and overall okay! The japchae was okay as well. Seasoned fairly. The food is good but the online ordering is a bit ridiculous. They charge a convenience fee for ordering food. Like how are are you gonna charge me to simply place an order? On top of that it asks if I want to add a tip. A tip to pick up my food I ordered online and receive no actual service from somebody? Y'all are really reaching for every penny you can get. Luckily the food is good and they are one of the only restaurants open past 9:00 around here so I support it. Seriously though, get rid of that convenience fee, it's unethical. read more

The wings are so crispy. Just the right amount of sauce on the wings to not drench it but keeping it coated with flavor. Spicy wings are quite spicy. Soy garlic is quite tasty. The chicken katsu is decent. Good flavor but a bit dry. I didnt eat the buldak but it looked really good. The rice cakes were all stuck together though they should be separated prior to sautéeing.
