    12. TONKATSU KIMBAP
    Kiley G.

Phenomenal food. Could not express this more! My favorite things here: -(Spicy) Chicken Bulgogi -Tonskatsu Kimbap -Udon -Curry Chicken Katsu (the curry is CRAVE-ABLE) They also have the options of different spice levels. They make add ins SUPER easy. It was a littttle expensive, but the quality makes up for it. The young ladies working in the front are always so kind. Very knowledgeable about the food as well & helped us pick some greaaat options. Mukja is beautifully decorated & has a cute little bar area on the side.

We always come here for the tteokbokki and tuna mayo kimbap. There is always a bit of a wait, but you can't really expect anything less for great food. The best kimbap we've found so far and we drive from Mooresville just to have it. Food is always on point here.

Guess I'll be first! I've tried them twice...and here's my take. First of all, the booth is quite cute and catchy. Even the name is fun. "Mukja" is a korean word that means "Let's Eat". Anyway, I love their menu...great variety of Korean foods, and some Asian fusion foods...with some tantalizing combinations! First time I was here, I tried their Kimbap, with this Korean drink (Apple flavored?). Sadly, I was disappointed. Guess I was expecting Bulgogi Kimbap...but I think it was just spam for meats? My bad for not reading the menu more closely. The drink wasn't a favorite either...a bit too tarty? Oh Well. Thought I'd try again...and this time I tried their Chicken Katsu with Curry. Well, it was a very generous portion of Chicken Katsu, and it tasted good enough. However, not good enough to merit this 19 buck pricing. For that, it should be restaurant-quality...and served on a nice plate (not paper plates and plastic utensils)! Unfortunately, I didn't think this was. While crispy enough, the Katsu was just very sloppily made and cut. Curry sauce was OK...I wished it was a tad richer in flavor, and spicier. Also, the cole slaw was a really bad, tasteless version...while I loved that they threw in some Japanese radish (Takuan), it was just the most minimal sliver of radish. Lastly, I hated the "To-Go" paper carton presentation. Why not at least a large, sturdy paper plate for those dining in? The last version of Chicken Katsu with Curry I had was in Duluth...the whole platter (including Udon Soup!) costed 15 bucks, yet several times better...in taste and presentation. Not even close in comparision! (see my review for "Kisoya" in Suwanee, GA). Never again will I pay 19 bucks for something from a food court. Still, I haven't yet given up on this vendor just yet...only because I'm itching to try their Tteokbokki? Guess I'm willing to try them at least 1 more time. As a Korean, I really WANTED to love this place. However, I only halfway liked it. Again, I thought the foods were good enough, but I just thought the pricing was a bit off. If priced more fairly, I might have liked the place much more?

Authentic Korean meal. The Alley 51 food hall is such an awesome setting to experience Mukja with their flavorful ramen and the drinks that make it a full experience. The staff was happy to help and the food came out quick!

I ordered the beef soft tofu from Mukja, and it was really good! I enjoyed the spice level, but next time, I'll definitely make it spicier. My order was to-go, and while the customer service felt a bit dry, the quality of the food made up for it. That's why I'm giving it a 4--great food, just wish the service had been more welcoming.

Neither of my friends had ever had it, so I knew we needed an AYCE so they could try a little bit of everything. We found 704 on Yelp and headed there! It's in a big shopping center, towards the back, with tons of parking. When we walked in we were immediately greeted and seated. I told our waitress, Kim, that we had two newbies, and the rest of the meal, she was as excited as I was for them to try things! We ordered a huge variety of items, including the soups, the cheesy corn, bulgolgi, pork belly, chicken, squid... everything that looked interesting :) It was so very very tasty! Since my friends were newbies, I cooked all our meats which they loved watching happen. The team working that evening were so quick that they replaced our grill several times throughout the meal without any impact to our enjoyment. We had so much fun that my friends are super excited to come back the next time we're in town! Another super fun thing that I didn't notice until we were leaving- the walls are decorated with really interesting artwork made of crushed cans! The front walls behind the hostess stand are entirely made of crushed bottles, and we were told that the restaurant team made it all happen! It's really unique to see.

I wonder why they had so much clutter up front?? Just did not make a good impression as you walked in. Then the music...it's no longer K-Pop, but Rap (or heavier Hip Hop?). I've never been to a KBBQ restaurant that didn't play K-Pop...so that was a bit offputting (for me). Not only did it betray the theme of the restaurant (K-Pot??), I just thought it made the vibe feel a bit too hard and intense...not as chill and relaxing as before. Then the menu. Seemed that they got rid of the desktop menu...which I kinda liked. With my verbal orders, there were some mistakes. They brought out 2 orders of Spicy Fish and 2 orders of Calamari...which just made the table busier than it needed to be. Still, my waitress was fairly attentive...so no issues after that. I ordered my fave items...Spicy Bulgogi, Beef Brisket, Spicy Fish and Calamari, along with Pineapple and Broccoli. Plus, there's the AYCE table with side dishes and sauces...which made the whole experience busier than it needed to be?? Still, one of the strengths of this place is its abundance of side veggies! I enjoyed the meal...but I missed a few options normally found in more authentic Korean BBQ restaurants. Unfortunately, I felt that the ambiance was way off this time (messy entrance, harsh overhead music)...plus I think the A/C was off (or on too low). Sorry, but must dock a star this time.

Frankly, I wanna try other items on the menu, but I'm so addicted to this Bento Box, I just can't seem to tear away from it. My husband feels the same! Also tried their hot Sake...but think I prefer the cold version. BTW, I noticed some renovations. They now have darker Cherry Wood (?) flooring and cabinetry (behind the sushi station, that is). However, they still have some original light wood chairs and tables. Also, they separated some of the tables (Yay!)...so not as many "communal" tables like before. Anyway, think this is a good sign that this place plans to stay awhile longer!

We ordered the OG Smash Burger with Fries, and K-Street Egg Toast (w/ Ham), and Ginger Ale. Well, first of all, the pricing seemed fair ( food-court appropriate!)...something I can't say for some of the vendors I've tried so far. The burgers were more expensive than McDonalds, but less than that of a restaurant (as it should be!). Then their K-Street Toast was a STEAL. I say that because their Egg Toast was less than 7 bucks, yet Huge...so buttery, soft and fluffy too! Most importantly, these quality-packed burgers, egg toast AND fries were all absolutely delicious! Surprising...because you don't think Korean when you think of good burgers...but these burgers (and the fries!) were rich, savory and juicy...SO good! In fact, I'd put it right up there with Bang Bang Burgers and Ace #3 (my fave burger joints in town). Again, their K-Street Toast was quite the treat...it was luscious!! I'm already thinking about running back to try more items on their menu...like their Korean Chicken Sandwich and Bulgogi Cheese Fries. I'm not even a big fan of hand-helds, but this was the best meal I've had at this food court...and I didn't feel ripped off at the end of it!
