Sooooo delicious! I have been wanting to try Bonchon for a while now! There's a location out at my alma mater at CSU Fresno! (It's a chain) My partner and I got the small wings/drumstick combo plus the tteokbbokki. The fried chicken was fried to perfection! Super crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. The waiter recommend the spicy and soy garlic sauce. Amazing! Only downside is I did not like the pairing of the daikon radish with the chicken. It tasted awkward to me and did not compliment the chicken. I saw most of the patrons around me got rice as a side instead (it says no side substitute though?). I had been craving tteokbbokki. This version was little smaller and more American friendly tasting than most traditional versions I have had in the past at other Korean restaurants. The value wasn't bad as we got the large amount of wings and split them between the spicy one and the garlic one. The spicy wings definitely had a kick so I would advise against getting them if you're spice-sensitive. I also tried the ddok bokki which also had a kick to it. Definitely not for the weak hearted. While the food was 4 stars, the prices are just way too high for the portions served. $10 dumplings were very mediocre, not worth getting again, about double the price they should have been. The chicken strips and fries from the lunch menu a much better value, I suggest dining then to save a few $ The fried rice was fine, pass on the upcharge for the bulgogi you really don't get much of it. I do wish they had some sauces for the apps and chicken, they did have ranch and a super salty soy sauce, but I didn't enjoy either. The slaw is all mayo based which is a shame, the kimchi a tiny portion for $3, good but really only two bites. Service was great, very friendly, but also slow, chicken always takes awhile and they are usually pretty busy, if not in store, then with many to go orders. I was craving Korean Fried Chicken so was very excited to try this place out. Sad to say that I was very disappointed. Wait: Came here on a busy Saturday night. All the tables were packed so we sat at the bar. The fried chicken took about 30 minutes to come out. Food: I ordered the half spicy and half soy sauce small wings ($12.95), which comes with either pickled radish or cole slaw and ten wings. Let me emphasize the last part - TEN WINGS. However, it came out with NINE assortment of chicken - 3 wings, 3 small drumsticks, and 3 large drumsticks. I personally do NOT like drumsticks, which was exactly the reason why I ordered wings. The chicken itself was juicy with crispy thin coat. The spicy ones have a kick at the end. The soy sauce ones were okay - nothing too special. The large drumsticks were a huge disappointment, on top of not getting 10 wings. They were huge with little sauce that I was not able to taste any spicy or soy sauce. I preferred the wings, which had better chicken to sauce ratio. Ordered wings and drumsticks and asked for some not to be sauced to test the flavor. There was no flavor but there was a crunch. I asked the server for sauce on the side to dip and was declined by the kitchen. The chicken was lightly sauces and didn't have much flavor and I was told we would be charged an additional $1 if we wanted it to be a little more saucy. I find these rules and ways odd. They explained that they ran out of the paper boxes and had to resort to plastic ones which was where my food went downhill. I went back for another take-out order to see if the experience has changed and it definitely has. I was greet promptly, got my order to go without much of a hassle, and enjoyed super crispy, well marinated soy garlic chicken at home. A responsive management team that takes feedback seriously is really appreciated. The only thing that was a misstep were the radishes - they tasted salty and not... pickled? Yes I ordered a salad at Bonchon, BUT I really liked it and I did try my cousin's wings which were DELICIOUS! We went around 12 and it was pretty empty, so we got seated right away. Our waitress was very polite and friendly answering all of our questions! I wasn't that hungry so I ordered the salmon salad while my cousin ordered the lunch special of wings and fries. When her food came out, I was surprised at how big the portion was. The fries were good and the wings were spot on. They were tasteful, juicy, and hugeee! My salad came out after, but it was delicious. I asked for the dressing inside since some restaurants make it too overwhelming to eat with the greens. I would always go to the Bon Chons around the San Jose area and loved it, so when I found out that Bon Chon was opening up less then a mile from my house, I had to go. We were the first paying customers in line on opening day...that's how excited we were. At first the service was rough, but after a few months they figured it out. They have good korean fried chicken but not that great. They got the crisp of the fried chicken on point but the chicken overall taste salty for me. And they only have 2 flavors which are just okay. It definitely tastes like a chain restaurant. Also pricey compare to other kfc places. But if you like the crispy super glaze crunch on your korean fried chicken, this is the place. I'm a mild spicy eater and I couldn't really handle the Bonchon spicy but nonetheless the flavor for it was still good. Garlic soy was very good and so where the pickled radish. This place has really good food but very bad customer service. First, I called to see if they take reservations since we were a party of 15. The person who answers puts me on hold (doesn't really put me on hold, more like puts the phone down) and ask a guy. The guy aggressively says no and she gets back on the phone to tell me that they don't but it'll be okay since there's no one here. (Even though I'm sure that will change in an hour when we get there) Next, we arrive there and I let them know that there is 15 of us and the two female workers look annoyed and look around to see that they don't have room for us at the moment. One of the females come to us and annoyingly says that we are going to have to wait and just looks annoyed the whole time. Third, there was about 15 of us and we probably spent over $150+ on food but we had a 7 year old that didn't like wings so we got her a burger from elsewhere. The worker then mad dogs us and let's us know that we can't have outside food. Fourth, the tables took awhile so we decided that we didn't mind if we didn't sit next to each other so we all got separate tables (I was at the table where there was only 4 of us). They had a sign that said parties of 6 and more will be charged an 18% gratuity and even though us 4 sat at a whole different table, didn't even really communicate AND didn't order with the other table, they still charged us 18%. We might as well of said we were only a party of 4. An 18% tip is too high when their service is that crappy. Advise: Please look at your yelp reviews every once in awhile and see why you have 3 stars and know that the reason is because of your poor CUSTOMER SERVICE. read more

The chicken was crispy on the outside but still juicy and flavorful once you bite in. The spicy was great too with a good amount of kick. If it's your first time at Bonchon, be sure to get the fried chicken! It's very crispy and packs a lot of flavor. When you first bite into it, there's a crunch! There are 2 choices of flavor, spicy and soy garlic. I personally like the spicy because it's actually spicy and you can taste the flavor. Some places you can't even taste the flavor because your mouth is busy being on fire. My aunt, who can't handle any spice, really enjoys the soy garlic. So both flavors are tasty! Just be sure to eat them while they're hot, if you let it sit.. it won't be as great as they intend to be. Aside from the fried chicken, I also had the korean tacos and the pork buns. Both of these items could use a bit more work. I didn't enjoy it as much as the chicken. The tacos were nothing special and it eventually got really soggy. The pork bun was too soft and did not have any crisp to it. For the price, I would say to avoid these two dishes and try something else. Next time I will probably try the japchae, fried rice or bibimbap. The service was excellent! I had Martino as my server and he was on top of everything. The water refill game was strong and everything was efficient. The food came out at a reasonable time and Martino was very accommodating despite the busy restaurant. I told one of the servers/waiters, Terry, that this was my first time here, but I heard about this place a few times via social media, so I thought I'd give BonChon a try. Delicious fried chicken! The spicy and the soy garlic wings are breaded, fried, and sauced very well. The crispiness and flavor of the chicken itself is still there even with the breading and the sauce. The calamari here is also very delicious!
