The strength of this place isn't actually their chicken but everything else. Don't get me wrong, their chicken is good, but I have had better at other Korean fried chicken places. The bulgogi tacos, pork bun and popcorn chicken are great. Service is faster than other similar restaurants and the place is very clean with plenty of table space to spread out food and drinks. My one warning is to avoid the bull dak unless you have a stomach and tongue of steel because it is so hot I was literally crying. They warn you that it's spicy but it is insanely spicy compared to their spicy chicken. They should tone down this spice or offer an alternative or else they'll keep getting this sent back to the kitchen for being inedible for most people. Going to bump this up one star because the manager that reached out to me after my last review was very kind and professional. If you want more detail about my past experiences, please refer to the older reviews written in detail. My most recent experience here was better than the one before but food still took a very long time to come out (& there weren't many parties seated). I think they need to at least forewarn customers how long food will take so we aren't just left wondering where our food is.. Or find a way to get food out faster. If you're looking for a cozy, relaxed atmosphere with a great menu this ISN'T the place. I want to give an honest and fair review. I'm a foodie and a local. Costa Mesa had established itself as a great place for foodies like myself but, I was disappointed in my experience here. I was really looking forward to my dining experience but I didn't get anything close what I'd hoped for. I don't blame the 2 servers. They were doing the best they could and weren't trained properly the onus lands COMPLETELY on the owner. I ordered the Bibimbop, which was the worst I've ever had. On top of the ingredients being substandard and ungenerously served (proportion of meat was tiny and very few of the additional ingredients that make a good Bibimbop). There are none of the standard tiny side dishes one comes to expect in a Lorean restaurant. We also ordered the potstickers which must've been the frozen kind from Costco (I'd stake my life on it). They certainly weren't fresh nor very tasty The music was horrible and the double does at the front kept slamming so damned hard when they closed that it actually disturbed my appetite. The intensity of the slamming was unsettling. Theo need to fix this! There were many mississauga with the service, not just for us but for others around us too. I could hear the complaints all around us. This was a Saturday night and the owner should've been here to help out. Sat night dining is almost always busy and should be expected and planned for in order to make entombed experience smoother and more elegant (including the employees). This is a franchise. Went here on a Friday night worried that they would be full and I might not be able to get a table. We were very lucky and walked in and were greeted by very friendly servers. This was my first time at this location as I have eaten at the fountain Valley location which is also excellent. The servers were very knowledgeable and friendly and helpful explaining everything on the menu. We had the boneless strips, half and half so I garlic and spicy. Also had the pork buns for the first time which were amazing. I was worried I was worried that they were going to be greasy but they were perfect. I would only order the wings. If you want pork buns and Katsu, go somewhere else. Before I get specific, I'm being honest because I don't order food very often. It's a luxury, and I wouldn't want someone spending money on food that didn't wow them. A very casual interior, and I think from the number if pickups that the bulk of their lunch business is take out. Original date of visit: 05/14/2020, 8:10pm I ordered 1 Large Combo (15 pcs wings + 8 pcs drums) and 1 Korean Tacos around 7:13pm via the Bonchon app, and the email confirmation said our order will be ready by 7:43pm. My husband got there at 8:10pm, and he was told the order was not ready yet so he had to wait for another 15-20mins. He had to go do an errand prior to taking the food home so by the time we he got home and we're about to eat, we opened the box and found that the order was missing all 8 pcs. drums! We tried calling the branch, but no one was picking up and we can't even leave a voicemail. This was so frustrating! I called the next day, 5:515/2020 and explained to Lauren on the other line what happened. She mentioned, in the future, to place the order over the phone instead of the app. When she spoke with her supervisor, Pablo, they originally offered a Medium Combo but I hesitated in the beginning as I felt the complimentary offer was not worth the money I paid for when they messed up my order last month. My order was a Large Combo - 15 pcs. wings + 8 pcs. drums, and the order was missing all 8 pcs. drums, so I told them they should replace the 8 pcs. drums that was already paid for and offer another complimentary meal. They offered me the medium drums instead and thinking I have no other choice, I just went on to agree with the offer. I was so frustrated with what happened, I haven't made an order ever since the incident until today. However, today, June 14th, is another incident and review to share. I called around 2:54pm to place an order over the phone for pick up at 6:30pm. My husband arrived around 6:30pm to pick up our order, just like last time, they made my husband wait again. I thought, by calling ahead of time, 3.5 hours ahead to be exact, we wouldn't have to wait longer than the last time. I was wrong. And even if they made my husband wait for 30 minutes, they messed up our order again. We ordered three (3) bulgogi korean tacos along with the complimentary medium combo meal with coleslaw as the side dish and they only gave us two (2) bulgogi korean tacos and radish instead of coleslaw. Our delivery order was absolutely tasty. I would just like more noodles in their japchae. I never thought I would have an issue with too much good stuff hence no reason to deduct from a perfect score. The photo is after one small serving. Almost no noodles. My sister didn't eat it because that was kinda the point of ordering this specific noodle dish, of which is BonChon's is her favorite. She loves bibimbap but the sauce was so spicy she couldn't eat it the very first time I brought them here. So just be sure to ask about that if you order it. This BonChon breaks the mold. Not sure her name, but a young server with tattoos greeted us and checked in on us throughout our meal, service was perfect. Food was good as well, not many flavors food the chicken, but fries were crispy, flavorful, and overall good portion. One thing that threw me off was when asking for ranch for the wings , they wanted A WHOLE DOLLAR for a little side of ranch... very very disappointed and completely changed the experience of eating there. One of the top fried chicken spots we have in OC. I tried them when they 1st opened and it was just "pretty good". I decided to try them again and it was night and day from my 1st experience. Im pretty addicted and have been going 2 to 3 times a week. Now my office is getting on board and I few co workers are addicted too. To go chicken is still perfect. The fries not so good. I wish they had a better way to pack fries to go, may be vent the container so they don't get soggy. The spicy wings tastes like it's tossed in a sweet gochujang paste and is more mildly spicy. But it depends on the person cause I love spicy food. Service was really quick. They were really friendly and would check in from time to time. I was more surprised it wasn't as busy, but maybe it's because we came in on a weekday.
