They're good but the wings rule. The pickled radish is a great side item. So is the cucumber salad. Update: I started this review for side tracked and I'm back again, this time with wings. Got the yangnyeom and spicy, half and half order. The yangnyeom are always delicious and the are also good and spicy. Right on the edge for me. My two favorites are the yangnyeom and the sou garlic. So grateful a Bonchon opened in Gainesville that actually has tons of parking and is so convenient. The other location was downtown and impossible to access. Love the customized Gainesville gator decor inside mixed with classic Bonchon x Busan Hangul signage. The chicken here tastes on point with consistent quality, just like the first time I tried this chain back in NYC in 2008. I highly recommend the mozzarella cheese balls with the new Gold Dust powder. Get the Gold Idust cheese powder on everything and then a side sauce of yang-nyum for dipping. Finally decided to stop by for dinner at around 6 on a Saturday. You order at the counter and they bring you food, but they take quite a long time to take each order, so the line behind us had around 15 people by the time we ordered. We both ordered the wings, but soon realized we should've ordered the drumsticks, as we saw other tables' orders and the drums are MASSIVE. The wings are pretty small, definitely not from the same type of chicken lol! Also there were drums still but small ones? Not the massive ones that you get when you order just the drums? Kinda weird and confusing lol. Flavor wise, we ordered soy garlic and spicy, and both were delicious! Albeit a tiny bit salty on some bites. However, our wings were already pretty cold when we received them, which was a bit disappointing since I love a freshly fried hot chicken wing. The fries are so bad, don't order them. They have no salt on them; we had to ask for salt and pepper packets to try to salvage them (didn't help much at all), and are extremely soggy. It just tasted like fryer oil. All the employees were extremely nice though. They were attentive to the tables and providing refills on the fountain drinks! I would definitely come back to try some of the other dishes to see how those taste, but for korean fried chicken, I'd just go to bbq chicken downtown. read more

I've been to Bonchon in other cities, but I think that I've had the best experience in this location. The restaurant is clean (i did not see the bathrooms though) and it's in a nice area with a parking lot. My group didn't wait too long for our order either. The staff was fast, friendly, and even helped with boxing our leftovers. Foodwise, Bonchon in general is pretty mid korean fried chicken (I think bbq chicken in downtown tastes way better), but it's a taste you can expect to be the same wherever you go. The food here tastes the same as the food in the Orlando location. Definitely did not disappoint just because it's not my first time going to Bonchon. Don't expect it to be the "Ultimate Korean Fried Chicken Spot," just know that the flavors there are something you can expect in most of their locations. read more

I was excited to try the newly opened Bonchon location in Gainesville. I have visited Bonchon in several other states in the past and have generally found the quality to be consistent across locations. I ordered the large mixed chicken in the classic soy garlic flavor. Compared with my previous experiences, this location's version was slightly saltier; however, the portion size was generous and the chicken was exceptionally crispy, which is what Bonchon is known for. Bonchon just opened in Gainesville, and I had to try it since I was craving fried chicken. The interior is really nice. I loved the decor, LED lighting, and the big screens in front of the bar for watching sports. There are plenty of tables along with smaller two-seaters, and the space feels open and lively. I came in late on a weekday, so it wasn't too busy. Service was friendly, and they let us know upfront that the wait would be about 20 to 25 minutes after ordering, which I appreciated. I ordered the six-piece wings, half yangnyeom and half crunchy, plus the special fries. The wings came with two drums and four flats, all good-sized pieces. The wings were insanely crunchy, even after a 10-minute car ride home. I ate them right away and they held up so well. The yangnyeom sauce was great, slightly sweet with a nice kick of heat. The crunchy wings were seasoned perfectly and not dry at all. The fries were beer-battered and cheesy. Pretty good, but nothing super memorable. Never tried this place before but word of mouth was that it was delicious! I'm glad we got to eat here. Everything was 10/10. We got the sampler and it was the perfect size for us and more! I'm not a big fan of dumplings and theirs was sooo good and crispy-love! The donuts are the best I've ever had and I've been daydreaming about them since. This is a wing place. I haven't tried before so far it's one of the best places I I have eaten at. The wings was hot fresh spicy, sweet and most of all delicious. When it first opened and corporate was here AND you saw the lil Asian grandma cooking in the kitchen, IT WAS FIRE!!! THEN as the month went by and corporate had left, it went down hill. Everything that was perfect became too sweet, soggy, or sloppy. Getting resolution or customer satisfaction is very challenging. I gave it 3 tries and since then I haven't been back. I really wanted to love this place but without extensive & proper training or people who care, all you have is a modern clean storefront. I'll post the pictures of all three visits and show you what I'm talking about it. I think they opened in December of 2025.... I would save my money, until Corporate decides TO PAY ATTENTION. Bonchon is an interesting experience. The new Gainesville location is smaller than some I've already visited and seemed a bit more . . . fast foody. Seemed more a rush, more an emphasis on carry-out, too. The staff were friendly but not terribly informed on the food or their menu. The interior, though brand new, seemed cluttered and even a bit grimy. That much being said, the fried chicken is good, the mandu (potstickers) are okay. Bonchon is very much its own interpretation of Korean cuisine, even of Korean fast food. I'm very familiar with Korean cuisine as part of my work concerns Korean culture and Bonchon is simply Bonchon: it's its own deal like some other fast food chains, which is fine. I would however therefore stick more to their chicken dishes. I don't see any reason someone would want to get, say, japchae here though they have it. For the chicken, come on in: once they've been open longer probably things will seem more polished but it does seem a bit sub par to their other locations I've been to currently. read more

The fried chicken and tteokbokki were both very bland. The chicken wasn't crispy at all, and the tteokbokki was cold and diluted, almost like it was sitting in water. The fried on the other hand looked delicious but was extremely spicy to the point i was unable to eat it. I'm someone who enjoys spicy food normally as a hispanic but this was too spicy to eat or taste anything. It just burns. The fried rice doesn't exactly specify how spicy it is, so be aware. I did try and exchange it for their normal fried rice, but they said they don't do that and offered instead a 10% discount if I were to order another fried rice, which I think is a little ridiculous considering I had to trash the food. Never actually tried the food. I was pretty excited to try this place. We ordered 2 meals at 6:38 pm. Not too busy in there, maybe 15 people in there. We waited 43 minutes and never got our food. We saw a few other people that came after us get their food. Even our friends that ordered just after us got their food in 10 minutes. Asked why it was taking so long and they said they were working on two other orders before our but it's coming. Waited 8 more minutes, our friends were done eating. I asked again about the food and they said they have to cook a fresh batch of chicken. At that point my wife asked for a refund which they gave us but they didn't refund the drinks. That's fine because we drank them but they kept the full tip. I was a little irritated by that because I never received my food so I asked for refund on the tip. Took another 10 minutes but I got it. A couple other people were getting refunds too. Apparently they were doing DoorDash orders first before dine in orders. I won't be back if that's how they operate. read more
