We had a wonderful lunch at Monoyaki! I ordered the sashimi and nigiri box, and it was outstanding. At first our server, Kira, thought I could choose any type of sashimi (eel, salmon, shrimp, etc.), but she double-checked and came back to let me know the set included salmon, tuna, and yellowtail. Honestly, it ended up being perfect--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The box came with a seasonal salad and a yummy "mom chip," plus 3 pieces of nigiri and 4 pieces of sashimi. Everything was delicious. My spouse ordered the jam-pong--a spicy seafood-based soup with wheat noodles, shrimp, scallops, squid, onions, carrots, and Napa cabbage. Super tasty and generously portioned. He finished all the seafood but couldn't get through even half the noodles! Kira was absolutely fantastic. She's a senior at UF and was incredibly friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. She even brought us extra salad because we enjoyed it so much. We sat outside (my favorite), even though the hostess initially wasn't sure they could accommodate us because it was busy. Once we were seated, Kira told us she'd take great care of us no matter where we were--and she did. Smart woman; she earned a very good tip! Overall, great food, great service, great atmosphere. Highly recommend Monoyaki for a fresh and satisfying meal. I was very very happy! And since I'm trying to get away fro the fast food chains, this was perfect!

Korean-Japanese Flavors at Momoyaki We had dinner at Momoyaki in Gainesville and really enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere and wide array menu. We started with the Korean fried chicken, which had a crisp, flavorful batter and a tasty sauce that pulled everything together. Personally, I'd love to see an option for white meat--dark meat isn't my preference--but the overall execution was solid. The sushi was the heart of the meal. We ordered four rolls between the two of us, which ended up being the perfect amount. The standout was definitely the Trust Me Roll--a chef's choice roll created on the spot. It was unexpected in the best way: bold flavors, great balance, and totally worth handing the reins over to the chef. We also tried the Spicy Girl, the Dynamite (a reliable classic), and the Bonsai, which had a really nice texture and freshness. Each roll brought its own personality and was clearly made with care. To complement the food, we went with the Bokbunjajoo--a Korean black raspberry sake featured on the nightly specials. It was smooth, subtly sweet, and paired beautifully with the sushi. A fun way to round out the meal. Also, let's give props to the BOGO wine night, Thursday special. Service: Service was low-key and friendly. Our server was training someone, so things moved at a relaxed pace, but we appreciated the thoughtful recommendations and easygoing vibe. Ambience: The space hasn't changed dramatically from its past life under other restaurant names, but it's had a nice refresh. Heads-up--the entrance is now in the back of the building, but it leads straight to an accessibility ramp, which is a thoughtful . Parking was plentiful and stress-free, even during dinner hours. There's also outdoor seating, which looked like a great option for a mild evening. Momoyaki - solid place for Korean-inspired food, creative sushi, and a calm dining experience.

The food here is always outstanding and they have a wide variety! It was hard to decide what to order because everything looked delicious, but I went with the shrimp yaki udon and it did not disappoint! I was worried it would be too spicy, but the spice level was perfect and was balanced with the creaminess of the sauce. The service was great and fairly quick. The atmosphere here is incredible, with lots of separate little rooms that make the place feel super homey. I've been several times and will keep coming back!

    Side Dishes

I ordered Bibimbop with Beef in the stone (Clay) bowl. It was absolutely delicious. Clay bowl kept food hot. The side dishes were Kimchi, Fish Cakes and Pickled Radishes. All were delightful. I'm not usually a rice person but this rice was great and didn't make me crash after eating it. Even the spicy sweet sauce added something special to my meal. Authentic taste!! Made me think about my favorite K-ROM-Coms. lol

I went here recently for a graduation celebration and the service was great. All the food was great. I got the date iced tea and the udon. It was amazing.

I like this place a lot! Staff is always helpful, and they always check on you. I tried the Nangmyun. It was definitely a different type of soup for me since I've never got a cold soup before. The type of noddles were new for me, but I loved the taste. I also tried the Kimchi fried rice. They gave a lot! I was really tasty, but I was expecting a bit less cook egg on top. The Yaky mandu with pork was a big tasty surprised. I was amazed with the flavor! The place was a little bit too hot for me, though. It seemed that the AC was not too powerful, but it was not a big deal.

I have been eying this place for some time now and due to my cravings for Korean food - I decided to place a to go order. This business is located near Steak & Shake and before you get to La Tienda, which is a busy road. When parking, be mindful of the potholes as it does need some TLC. As I stated, I did do a to go order and went around 5pm and thankfully it was not too busy. I was in the mood for a bibimbap, which I ordered with beef bulgogi and the traditional way with a sunny side egg. I also asked for a side of kimchi. My hostess stated it would be about 15 minutes, so I waited inside at the front seating area. My order came out before the 15 minutes which was great. Once I got home, I was so ready to dive in. For starters, the portion size was HUGE. It came in a nice container with the rice at the bottom, veggies, meat, then the sunny side egg on top. The gochujang sauce came on the side. The beef was tender and very flavorful. I loved the way the flavors of the veggies and meat combined with the kimchi and sauce were complimentary. The one thing I did like was that the sunny side egg was fried too hard for me. I wasn't able to mix the egg in as much as I would have liked. However, I will definitely come back here to visit for lunch as I saw they offer daily specials and have a vast amount of dishes that looked delicious!

Every time I come to Momoyaki I have awesome dishes. This was my second time coming and the food was as good as last time. My favorites from this go around is definitely the Jeyuk Bokkeum and spicy Korean chicken. Really everything tbh. Looking forward to my next visit!

Located pretty close to UF campus, this Korean, fusion, and sushi joint is definitely worth a visit. You might ask why only 4 stars then, honestly service and a parking lot that needs some tlc. Exercise caution entering the parking lot, it kind of comes on quick and sharp if coming from campus. Once on the lot, it can really stand to be replaced as there are lots of holes and dips (so also be careful walking. Now for the service issue, it wasn't even the servers fault. Our server was the only one for the entire restaurant. One server and one food runner for a fairly busy average sized restaurant. She was doing her best but she was only one person. They have daily specials and a lunch menu if you're looking for some deals. The menu itself is quite large with a variety of traditional Korean dishes, sushi, desserts, alcoholic beverages, etc etc. There was even a menu we saw on another table that has some type of Korean tacos. Now for the star, the food!! We ordered 4 dishes for 3 people and polished off every single dish. Hard to pick a favorite but I'm usually partial to anything eggplant so the KANPOONGKI was a hit. The BIBIMBOP was also pretty delicious with its sizzling and crispy rice, although we may not have let it sizzle long enough for more crispy rice. The shrimp udon was tasty but perhaps a little sweet for me. Also the shrimp all seemed to fall to the bottom so it was a little disproportionate eating but still tasty overall. Will definitely be back when in the area to try more items and the sushi.

We returned to try the Korean fare and it didn't disappoint! We started with a veggi Pajun scallion pancake which was an absolutely tasty delight - so much so that I only remembered to photograph it when we were halfway through. My Japchae was beyond addictive! Chewy glass noodles in a wonderfully smoky sauce with veggies and tender, equally smoky shaved ribeye. My husband ordered the Shrimp Yaki Udon. Delicious, but if you're used to the smoky Japanese or Chinese version you'll be surprised. This is in a tomato type sauce. Still quite tasty! Our meals were accompanied with three little pickle dishes of spicy kimchi, bean sprouts, and pickled diakon. A perfect pairing for the wonderful noodle dishes we ordered. I wish we lived in the area as we'd be here often to try their other amazing sounding dishes. This is my introduction to Korean cuisine and I have to say I'm addicted!

This is a cute Korean fusion restaurant that has really tasty dishes. The customer service here was great, our waitress checked in with us regularly and was friendly and nice. I tried the yaki mandu, kimchi fried rice, and nangmyun. Everything tasted amazing. I especially liked the nangmyun because I wanted something cold and the dish was perfectly cold and icy and very refreshing. I would definitely come back.

With…read morethat being said, most places required a reservation or you had an 1.5h wait ahead of you. After a little wandering around we found liquid ginger. The line wasn't too long inside, so we decided we would try it. They were swamped and very busy still, but the staff was doing their best to accommodate everyone. We waited in a short line for maybe 15min before reaching the hostesses table. We were lucky to get seats at the sushi bar! The interior is very nice and has a nice vibe. This place is really great for nice dinners, nights out, or a good dinner. Service was definitely off that night. Our water specifically seemed to forget about the group of us since we were seated at the sushi bar. It took her 15 to get us waters and our other drinks didn't even come out until after we got out food (a considerable time later). Like I said it was busy, the sushi bar was swamped with orders, but they were working diligently to keep up with the influx of orders. Most of us ordered sushi, so we ended up waiting a considerable amount of time for our meals. My one friend ordered an entree from the kitchen and it came out within 10 minutes of her ordering it. Our sushi was served about 20-30 minutes after her dish. This is frustrating and slightly awkward as my friend felt bad eating while the rest of us didn't have any food yet. Again, this is no fault to the sushi chefs. They were working extremely hard to produce quality sushi for all the guests. My problem came with our server, Emma. She didn't check in on us at all, didn't even serve our dishes to us, and like I said, forgot to get us drinks, etc. While this was frustrating, I do not think this is a reflection of the restaurant overall. It appeared the other serves were fine keeping up with their tables. For the food, we started with the crab rangoons and steamed pork potstickers. These came out within 10 minutes of ordering and were great starters! They each included 6 pieces per order. The crab rangoons were stuffed with ample amounts of cream cheese and crab meat. They were perfectly crispy and I thought these were some of the better Rangoons I've had. The potstickers hit the spot, but weren't anything too special, pretty standard. For my sushi, I ordered the Golden Apple Roll (per our servers recommendation) and a daily special roll called the bonzai Roll. The golden apple roll included spicy crunchy salmon, Fuji apples, mango, and mango sauce. This was decent and something different but not my favorite. 5)3 flavors were super unique but there wasn't a sweetness at all oddly like I was expecting. Instead it had a distinct tart flavor to it. Different, but not my vibe. Now the bonzai roll was a hit! This roll included tuna, salmon, kani, and avocado inside, topped with tuna, salmon, yellowtail, and mayo, then flamed & torched, and finished with eel sauce, caviar, and scallions. There was certainly a lot going on in this one, but I could really taste all the different elements. The fish was extremely fresh and just divine. I also tried some of my friend's sashimi and was blown away with the quality of the fish--just amazing. Overall, we all loved the food here and would 100% return. The quality is quite good and the fish is melt in your mouth. You can tell they take a lot of pride in their sushi and it is evident in the taste and presentation alone. Now the service was certainly more desirable. I understand it was a very busy night, but our server just appeared to forget about us. Very disappointing as it slightly spoiled our experience and was not a good first impression. Again, we all agreed that we thought it wasn't a fair assessment of the restaurants service overall. I'm hoping next time the service is better and our server can do a better job serving us and checking in on us. I'm also surprised that she never offered to compensate anything in our bill, like our drinks that took 30+ minutes to come out and were served well after we had received our food. But it's not the end of the world. I would still recommend coming here, I actually think their sushi is better than Dragon Flys, better priced, and dare I say higher quality!

There is both indoor and outdoor seating, with heat lamps available for cooler evenings. We had a reservation and arrived a bit early but had to wait until our scheduled time, which wasn't surprising since every seat was full. We initially sat at the bar, where the bartender promptly took our order. We had both hot and cold sake--the cold sake came in a can and was especially delicious. After a short wait, we were taken to our table, which featured large, high-back leather chairs that were very comfortable. Our waitress greeted us quickly and brought water right away. We started with a few appetizers. The lobster wontons with truffle were just okay--slightly dry and lacking a sauce. They were small and mostly wonton, with minimal filling and flavor. We also tried the dumpling appetizer, which came with only three very small dumplings. The wrappers themselves were very good, and each dumpling had a different spicy flavor, but there was only a tiny piece of meat in each. Overall, it felt overpriced for what was included. I also had the miso truffle soup, which was decent but mostly broth with very little substance. For our main courses, I had the scallops with mushrooms, which were very good. The dish included a nice variety of mushrooms and vegetables that were fresh and crunchy. My husband ordered the lamb chops, and they were spectacular--tender, flavorful, and truly melted in your mouth. The accompanying sauce was absolutely perfect. After dinner, we were each given a small box containing two wine corks, which was a thoughtful and pleasant surprise. If in the area again, we'd go back.

The boa buns were soft, the pork was cooked perfectly, and the hoisin sauce at the bottom of the bun was amazing. There were vegetables on top, including cucumbers that tasted sweet and carrots. I don't like fish, and this crab Rangoon must have had a large amount of cream cheese base. I personally really enjoyed it since the crab wasn't very prominent. The filling was creamy, the Rangoon was crunchy, and the sweet and spicy sauce it came with made a perfect combo. For our meal, we ordered the chicken pad Thai. Unfortunately, it didn't really meet our expectations. The pad Thai was sitting on top of a sauce at the bottom, which tasted like a hoisin sauce base. The taste was very minimal, which was disappointing. The noodles were soft, almost like they were overcooked. The chicken was cooked well and lightly seasoned (which worked perfectly for the pad Thai). The vegetables on top of the pad Thai were also very fresh and you could tell they were freshly cut. The lack of peanut/pad thai taste was the most disappointing part that unfortunately lost it for us. The service was good. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted and were able to select our own table. The inside is decently small, with around 8 tables.

I got some food to take away from the bar including Kung Pao chicken, lion's head meatballs (pork, no lions were harmed!), eggplant, and lo mein. The lion's head meatballs were excellent, the Kung Pao chicken very spicy and very good, the eggplant a bit soggy but alright, the lo mein . . . well, no better than most strip mall quick Chinese places, honestly. Still, it was good overall and this is very nice to have a place for take-away in the grocery store--it's also beside the boba tea and mochi donut counter so you can get your dessert and just everything in one fell swoop here. I did find it, as someone who cooks a lot of Chinese food myself, rather bemusing that they aced the tricky dishes and yet pretty much botched the lo mein which should have been the easiest part of the menu.
