Favs: Beef Bulgogi and Chicken Bulgogi on the BBQ
    Tiffany C.

Service: 5/5 So helpful!! Sauces: 5/5 Fresh and good variety! Food: 4/5 Canned soda :( I am not generally a fan of restaurants where I have to cook for myself, especially without a recipe, so the whole fondue/broth experience is a miss for me. However I do enjoy being able to sample a bunch of different things and thankfully hubby likes to cook it all for me. I would definitely come back just to have the Beef Bulgogi and the Chicken Bulgogi (it's soooo tender!) on the BBQ. One of the workers saw us struggling with sauces and whipped something up that was so good I could drink it solo! I literally ate it with everything that night. Even hubby who doesn't like cilantro or scallions said it was pretty good. Many different people stopped at our table to help, everyone was so nice and helpful. I don't feel like we got the hang of cooking in the broth. We tried beef, chicken, lamb, fish, quail eggs, mushrooms, udon, shrimp, you name it. But it all seemed like it needed something. I did appreciate all the cook times being posted in various places but I wish there were an option to pick a pre-chosen dish and add/modify if you wanted. Also, the photos on the cook time charts were super helpful in identifying what was on each plate as it passed on the conveyor. Don't forget to grab an ice cream to go on the way out!

I was in Gainesville for a work trip and was happy to see that there was a hot pot spot near my hotel. I was a little worried since I was by myself, that it wouldn't work with the whole hot pot set up. When I got there, I was seated at a bar like section where there are individual hot pot stations for people in my exact situation! It was perfect. The staff were very nice and accommodating and explained everything that I needed to know, as it was my first time at that specific restaurant. The food was so tasty and I went back for so much more than I expected! It seems like a very nice space for large groups as well as single eaters. I would highly recommend this spot for anyone who's looking for a fun yummy meal in the area!

Located just of Archer on 34th, this hot pot spot also offers Korean BBQ. Staff was friendly, helpful, and attentive. If you are unfamiliar with hot pot, it's a fun interactive meal. Think like melting pot for hearty soup. There are directions in the restaurant as well if you are new to the experience. Reasonably priced for what you get (all you can eat/AYCE), we only did the hot pot but the BBQ is only $3 extra per person but the whole table has to order. The restaurant is very open so it can get loud especially if a party itself is loud. A lot of the veggies and some seafood or noodles come out via conveyor belt but anything you don't see, you can order from a server. The sauce bar was amazing and allowed for you to crate your own mix or just go with their house sauce (which was also tasty). Our table tried the mushroom, spicy, and original broth. Our only 2 issues were that the broths could have been a bit more flavorful and that the conveyor belt plates should have a lid or something since they may bypass many people before getting to you. Overall we will be back when in town. Give it a try for a fun, neat eating experience.

I've been in Gainesville for a few months now and I have eaten at Nine Spices Fondu quite a few times already. Besides being a fun experience, Nine Spices Fondu has an amazing assortment of foods for their all you can eat hot pot. They recently added beef belly to their menu, and it is so delicious. They off various veggies, meats, seafood, and mushrooms. Their broths are delicious, but spicy is my favorite. Their sauce bar offers so many options to make your own dipping sauce for veggies, meat, or to add to your broth. The $30 all you can eat option carry's so much value, the amount high quality meat one can go through during dinner here makes up for the price point alone.

My first time doing Hot Pot. It was so yummy. Would so get again. I got the chicken and veggies mainly. I will say the seating looks like it had seen better days. Service was a tad slow for how few people were dining at the time.

THIS is what I thought I was ordering. I DID read your menu, sir. We thought we were ordering THIS.

HORRIBLE experience. My child chose this place for her birthday. I ordered two sodas and I thought I ordered a single meal for each of us. Of this "meal" we each had less than two cups of food. I had NO IDEA that we were being taken advantage of and charged $30 EACH for all you can eat. To say I was shocked when I saw the price would be an understatement. I didn't want to make a scene in front of the birthday girl so waited until I arrived home to call them to discuss the error. SURELY, they remembered us. Surely they noticed that my kid ate a few pieces of broccoli and a cup or ramen noodles and I ate even less. They seemed like "nice folks" and would gladly charge the appropriate price. Instead of good customer service I was told, "Maybe next time you should read the menu." I asked him again to do the right thing and not take advantage of a kid on her birthday and her mom. I didn't want to write a negative review and have to dispute the charges with my bank. I was told, "Do what you are going to do. Call the credit card company....do what you are going to do....and happy birthday to your daughter. Maybe next time read the menu." I'm trusting KARMA to be swift on this one. Shame on you. Food isn't very good The character of those working there is far worse.

Pretty good hotpot / BBQ place. The conveyor hot pot concept seems to be popular here in this part of Florida. There is also one location in Jacksonville. You have 3 choices: Hotpot, BBQ, or both. The meat and veggies are AYCE. You can order as much as you can eat. Spacious and clean restaurant. They even had a table delivery robot.

This place is hands down our favorite date night spot in Gainesville. The servers are so helpful and friendly, and always make sure our drinks are full or that we don't need anything at the moment. Do the all you can eat hot pot and BBQ option - you won't regret it. We like the original soup base, or the spicy base is good too. The conveyor belt is super fun but it only runs on busy nights or weekends when there are enough people to use it. Otherwise, your server brings you anything you want from the menu. Our server even helped us grill meats on the new bbq grills and suggested sauce combinations. The beef bulgogi and pork belly are so good on the grill. We get shaved beef, lamb, mussels, krab, and so much more for the hot pot. There's a build your own sauce bar too. It's a bit pricey and ends up being $70 for two people, but it is so much fun and very good food. You won't leave hungry.

#HotPotHunny I'm starting a hot pot fan club, and that will be my title. Just wait for it! Nine Spices has made me a Hot Pot fan and I love it!! I've done the ramen deal, the pho and all that but hot pot is like the best of both worlds! And Nine Spices makes it even better by introducing me to all you can eat hot pot! With a conveyor belt and printed menu to choose your fill from, it's easy to get caught up in feasting with your eyes! I start with the spicy broth base and go in from there. There are amazing options from crab, shrimp, crawfish, a variety of noodles and mushrooms and so much more! I'd love to see the menu options switch up sometimes or grow, but I understand that it would be pricey for them to do so, so I'm grateful! With the pandemic and just everyday germs being present, I love that the conveyor belt has items covered with Saran Wrap if you choose to go that route! They also have gloves available, sanitizer, limited seating and take your temperature when you come in. Nine Spices should be at the top of your list!

This Asian restaurant's interesting concept drew us in; we were excited to try it. It's open 7 days a week from 11:30 AM to 11 PM. As patrons enter, they'll be asked if they want ALL YOU CAN EAT, ALL YOU CAN EAT w/ BARBEQUE ($3 more), or a PRESET DINNER (selected by management & listed on the menu). The restaurant is divided into the sections listed above. What you select for dinner determines where in the restaurant you'll sit. We decided upon ALL You Can Eat ($28.95 each) minus the Barbeque. We were immediately taken to our far right to sit beside the funky conveyor belt that was pumping out up to 54 raw foods on bright orange, yellow, green, white, & black domed plates. I have to be honest, The Jetsons came to mind:) Having no clue the ordering/eating process, our assigned waiter Jason kept repeating,"Read the screen." We read it, yet neither one of us understood how to order. Thankfully, a friendly female server (whose English was very good) walked over to explain everything. She also made very good recommendations. HOW DOES THIS ASIAN FONDUE RESTAURANT OPERATE? First, diners select a BASE BROTH; there are seven varities; we do not recommend the flavorless "Original Soup Base." Then they select their sauces from the Sauces Station in the middle of the restaurant; there they can also pick ingredients to liven up the broth. (I selected garlic, scallions, & cilantro for my Mushroom Broth, which it needed.) Once seated beside the belt, we each were asked to select 2 sliced meats; we chose all four-- Lamb, Chicken, Pork Belly, & Beef Brisket. Soon after the meat arrived, we received our pots of hot broth. (We were told to set the temperature @ #5 then reduce it to #3 once the broth boiled.) ALL that was left was to grab food items from the conveyor belt-- SEE PICS. A pictorial sign explains what will come down the belt & how long to cook each food in the broth. I chose the following: Blue Crab, Large Clams, Mussels, Pork Dumplings, Pumpkin, & all four thinly sliced meats. My dinner companion also selected Noodles, Broccoli, & Beef Balls (which we don't recommend). If a food item listed doesn't appear on the conveyor belt, just ask your server; s/he will bring it to your table. There is a sign that indicates patrons can be assigned a "waste charge" for not finishing food, although we were not charged for the remaining Beef Balls. The restaurant hosts a bar (see pic). There are 18 alcoholic beverages available-- see menu pic. There are also Smoothies, Milk Teas, & Juice Teas. The only dessert on the menu is New York Style Cheesecake @ $3.99. The dining room & tables appeared spotless. The female staffer who helped acclimate us to the ordering process periodically checked in on us. Twice our waiter offered to add more broth to our hot pots. He also asked if we wanted our four meats replenished. Empty dishes were removed quickly. And we never felt as though we were being rushed to finish our food. Our dining experience was positive, although there can be little conversing when one is cooking his/her own dinner, so I don't recommend this restaurant for a first date. But it is a nice spot should you have a large dinner party; there is plenty of room for groups. If I could request any CHANGES, it would be that (1) the conveyor belt is lowered (or the seats & counter raised) so it's not as difficult to see what foods are jaunting by-- @ 5'8, I had to stand up each time so I'd grab the correct item, (2) shell crackers are provided to those eating the Blue Crab (without them, I was unable to eat the claw meat), & (3) additional desserts are added to the menu. Will we return? It's quite likely. I'm happy we tried the food & I like that this dining concept is unique. Next time we'll opt for the added barbeque & take more of a gamble on the broth we select.

4.5 stars Have been dying to try out this place as I love hot pot. I got there at 11:20AM on Saturday morning and they were already open! Hurray! (They're supposed to open at 11:30AM). There was already a party in front of me who were seated and ready to order. I love that they are willing to start service before opening time if customers have arrived early :) I got the AYCE option with the $3 add-on for Korean BBQ (why not satisfy 2 cravings at once!). Everything came out pretty quickly. I got the spicy soup option and beef and octopus bulgogi. It's interesting, they put a piece of paper on the grill before laying the meat down, and when you're done with it, you just change the sheet of paper. I got their beef, lamb, pea sprouts, chrysanthemum leaves, enoki mushrooms, wide potato noodles, crawfish, and blue crab. Everything was delicious. I love how they have food on the conveyor belt and if you order something from the waiter, it arrives via the robot within a minute. The servers are also really nice, they are always ready to advise you on how long to cook each item. Sauce station was well-stocked with a wide variety of sauces and some sauce recipes. I tried their house sauce (not quite my speed, I like a spicer sauce) but I can see how it may be a crowd-pleaser.

We were not able to choose our table, which would have been nice, and while you are not right on top of other people, the tables are close enough that it can be hard to have a private conversation. There were a couple things that held it back. I was served a drink that was close to eight months expired. I did not make a big deal about it and still drank it, but that is something they definitely need to stay on top of. Also, the menu said Pepsi products but only Coke was available. With better inventory checks and a more updated menu, this place could easily be a five star spot. It is just not quite there yet.

The boa buns were soft, the pork was cooked perfectly, and the hoisin sauce at the bottom of the bun was amazing. There were vegetables on top, including cucumbers that tasted sweet and carrots. The vegetables were fresh and tasted great with everything else. We also ordered the crab Rangoon which I personally really liked. I don't like fish, and this crab Rangoon must have had a large amount of cream cheese base. I personally really enjoyed it since the crab wasn't very prominent. The filling was creamy, the Rangoon was crunchy, and the sweet and spicy sauce it came with made a perfect combo. For our meal, we ordered the chicken pad Thai. Unfortunately, it didn't really meet our expectations. The pad Thai was sitting on top of a sauce at the bottom, which tasted like a hoisin sauce base. The taste was very minimal, which was disappointing. The noodles were soft, almost like they were overcooked. The chicken was cooked well and lightly seasoned (which worked perfectly for the pad Thai). The vegetables on top of the pad Thai were also very fresh and you could tell they were freshly cut. The lack of peanut/pad thai taste was the most disappointing part that unfortunately lost it for us. The service was good. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted and were able to select our own table. The inside is decently small, with around 8 tables.

We started with the wonton soup, which was visually beautiful. The broth had a rich, inviting color and the wontons themselves were excellent -- thin, delicate wrappers with a very flavorful filling. Unfortunately, the broth itself was a bit underwhelming and lacked depth. A touch of hot mustard helped bring it to life, but it needed more natural flavor on its own. The standout dish of the meal was the Mu Shu Pork. Absolutely fantastic. The portion was generous and the flavor reminded us of classic Mu Shu from WoHop in NYC's Chinatown -- high praise. The pancakes were incredibly thin, almost paper-like and nearly translucent, yet soft and perfect for wrapping. This dish alone makes us want to come back. The Bang Bang noodles were another dish that looked beautiful when served, but the flavor didn't quite match the presentation. The sauce seemed watered down and there was quite a bit of liquid in the bowl, which muted the overall taste. It felt very close to being great, just not fully there yet. Overall, this was a mixed but promising first visit. There's clearly real skill in the kitchen, and when the flavors hit, they hit well. We will definitely be back and look forward to trying more dishes -- and we'll happily update this review after our next visit.

Still, it was good overall and this is very nice to have a place for take-away in the grocery store--it's also beside the boba tea and mochi donut counter so you can get your dessert and just everything in one fell swoop here. I did find it, as someone who cooks a lot of Chinese food myself, rather bemusing that they aced the tricky dishes and yet pretty much botched the lo mein which should have been the easiest part of the menu.

Gainesville now has a place that specializes in Mala Tang (spicy hotpot) and Mala Xiang Guo(spicy…read moredry hotpot). Both Mala Tang and Mala Xiang Guo are some of the most popular and authentic dishes from Sichuan province in China. The place is located inside Enson Market right next to Tiger Sugar Milk Tea and Japanese Mochi Donut place! Pro tip: just like my previous posts, this place is a real deal. I would not try spicy or extra spicy unless you are familiar with spicy east asian food.
