It was a first time try for me; recommended by family. My experience was a solid ONE rating, I'd rate it a ZERO if it were possible; due to their miscommunication about response. Almost $70 spent on a meals that were NOT edible. It was a pick up order. Once back to our destination, we opened our meals. I was quite disappointed by looks of our orders & and found the taste to be quite unappealing. The food was dry and severely overcooked, impossible to chew, crumbs with the consistency of dog kibble. Our visit was in the evening. I don't know if that had anything to do with the poor quality of food. Establishment was almost 40 minutes away, therefore, another trip back out to exchange anything was not an option at the time. The concept and the food are not patron friendly. We got the Seoul Sampler with wings, legs, dumplings, bulgogi fries, street corn and coleslaw. You cannot get more than 1 sauce so all fried food tastes exactly the same. We chose the yangnyeom sauce which was to be slightly sweet and tangy, It was very sweet and no tang just heat. The sauce overpowered the taste of the chicken and dumplings. You cannot order your sauce on the side or pay extra and get a second sauce. We were told it was corporate policy. I had to ask for the pickled radish, and this was well after our meal was done. No water refill, no extra napkins. No apologies. I mean they are the best wings available. I personally like the spicy flavor. Spicy but addictive. The price point has definitely increased but the product has remained consistent... excellent. Now for portion size. I can eat 15 by myself. So I think 32 is good for two people over a 4 hour period. However, if this is something you want to eat throughout the day you will need more than 32. For instance you buy 32 at noon. You will be fine sharing them with one other person. However, you will want something else around 7. So buy more than 32 if you want to eat these for lunch and dinner. read more

COVID update: Best option is order online and pick up in person. They do not allow dine-in at this point and have created a plastic barrier to aid in contact-free pick-up to protect customers and staff. They also offer delivery but I find the food is often delivered cold by the third party delivery services. Quality of food has remained very good for us and we celebrated when they reopened. Business responded promptly to my report via email. They wanted me to reach out to the store so they can give me free 8 more pieces of drumsticks and other discounts for future orders. Very generous, but I declined the offer since I'm not willing to drive 30 - 45 minutes from Catonsville to Crofton, just for that and some coupons. So I just suggested to just refund us what we paid for and call it even. I don't think they like that response, it's been couple of days and I haven't heard anything back from them. I've had Bonchon at their Arundel Mills location years ago. I tried them again since they now have a location in Gambrills. This is quickly becoming my favorite chicken. I love the sauce and the crunchy chicken. This pic is of the boneless since I don't like picking out the veins, skin, tendons, fat and skin on boned chicken. When I went, it was empty inside and a few To-go orders lined up for pickup. But the attendant was very nice as she handed me the food. Everything was tasty. My husband, son, and I have been here several times. The restaurant was very clean and well laid out on the occasions that we were there. It is very aesthetically pleasing. We ordered at the counter and they brought the food to our table. I really enjoy how diverse their menu is and all of the different options you have to customize your order. My husband and son both ordered chicken wings and really enjoyed them. They liked the preparation and thought the sauces were very flavorful. I had the vegetable bibimbop. The portion was very large and it was super tasty. I also got the soy garlic potstickers and they were really good. I typically do not like garlic, but it was not overpowering at all. Do not sleep on Bon Chon, it is as good as advertised. I've been to a few different locations and have never been more happy to be living right down the street from this location in Gambrills. I usually get the Soy Garlic chicken which is amazing. The spicy is also really good, but can be a bit much if you're not a spice fan. During my last visit I was able to venture past the wings, and order a few items I hadn't had before. The Salmon Avocado ball was really good, though it wasn't how I thought it would be. I was almost expecting it to come with something to dip it with. It almost feels like you eating dip with a spoon/fork. The pot stickers were decent, you can get them with soy garlic or with their spicy sauce. They were a big hit with my kids. My lady ordered the Bibimbap which is a rice dish with assorted veggies and meat. If I had to walk into BonChon and not get chicken this dish would probably be my go to. I myself ordered the Bull Dak entree, the waiter made sure to spell out how spicy it was for me. I was told it was as spicy as the spicy wings are, but with a different flavor. He gave it an 8 out of 10 for spiciness which was pretty accurate. It was a spicy chicken stir fry with mixed veggies and rice cakes. Also very delicious, and in all honesty this dish can be shared between 2 people with the huge portion that is served. I took some home, and shared it with my mother, then still had enough to have for dinner the next day. The location is very clean, and the staff was very helpful and professional. They were short staffed the night that my family came in, but that server was so on point that you wouldv'e never known it wasn't supposed to be this way. He worked about 6-7 tables by himself, slightly assisted by the bar tender who would bus tables. So I'm the first reviewer huh? Awesome. So if you have never been to a Bon Chon understand this, eating fried chicken will never be the same for you. Korean fried chicken is hands down the best fried chicken in the entire world. The rest of the food isn't so bad either :) Now I need to make this known, I'm a Bon Chon fan for many years after searching for the same taste I had when I was in Korea, and while it's not exactly the same the chicken it's good enough to have you become a repeat customer like my family and I have become. It's great not to have to go farther out (yes I know there's a Hyattsville location but I don't like going near the college location). I haven't been to this Bonchon in a few years, (Covid and trying to eat less fried foods) but yesterday I had a craving for the soy garlic strips that wouldn't go away. Placed an order for the lunch special soy garlic strips and a side of radish. I was so excited to get it! (Side note: Looks like they arent doing dine in as all tables were covered with chairs and pushed back). My excitement quickly turned to disappointmentI, this is what I got. Sad looking pieces of chicken with almost no sauce - definitely not like the big, crunchy pieces they used to serve. The packaging was cheap and falling apart by the time I drove back to my office (10 minutes away). The only item that had the Bonchon logos on it was the carry out bag. The chicken was inedible but the radish was good. I'm going to go to another location and see if I get what I expected or if all locations have changed so drastically. We waited 40 minutes for an order that we placed in the restaurant before we spoke up and said something...it was only supposed to take 10-15 mins. After asking where our food was, they admitted that they hadn't checked the walk-in orders--they were only looking at online orders. Smart. Anyway, it took another 25 minutes for us to finally get our super basic lunch order, which was a little unacceptable. I saw so many people walk in and walk out, you'd think they ask why we were still sitting by the cashier after almost an hour. Really disappointed. Two whole tacos and one taco with a bite out of it in the trash. The chicken I assume was cooked this morning then put under a heat lamp all day. It was shiny like someone had sprayed on spray tan. Once I bit through the outer, spray tan shell, it was just dry chicken. Four whole legs and one leg with a bite out of it in the trash. The plain fried rice was hot and tasted nice. The japchae portion was incredibly small. It actually startled me. LOL The serving barely covered the bottom of the bowl it came in. Both it and the Korean fried rice did not taste good at all. I thought the food was supposed to taste and look the same from one Bonchon to another. But this location was wildly different from other Bonchons I've visited. So excited to have a BonChon in Crofton now! It's a very clean, modern look and layout. The service was excellent, super friendly and helpful. We started with soft drinks, chicken strips and gyoza... a mix of soy-garlic and spicy. It was really good and the spicy was pretty hot! My son and I got bulgogi while my wife had bibimbap and my brother had chicken katsu . I did not see the steamed veggies that were listed with the bulgogi dish, but didn't miss them either. An excellent restaurant and an excellent opening day! Do NOT be fooled by the 10:30 closing time, as we were. We showed up at 10:03pm tonight, and were turned away. Amazing chicken. The crunch gives me life. I ordered the spicy (true to its name) and watched the smoke come out of my mouth. The next day, I popped the chicken in the toaster and voilà, great second day bites. I don't know if this is true, but Korean fried chicken is fried twice during the process and that's what makes it different. True or not, I believe it because that Bonchon crunch is something out of this world. Bonchon deserves all the kudos for bringing this type of chicken "mainstream". So happy they opened a location in Crofton, where good Asian eats are rare. I always get a medium box of drumsticks to go - spicy all day, everyday. When I had Bonchon for the first time years and years ago, I was surprised by the heat this packed. The drumsticks are always a good size too. While I grew up on rice as the holy grail side (/main) dish, I rarely get that with the Korean fried chicken here. Same goes with spicy mayo. The fries are really good when they come out hot. Another note: I applaud them for their quick action during this pandemic. They were doing takeout and delivery at first, but proactively decided to close to keep customers safe.
