I mean, if you've had any Bonchon chicken before, you know the chicken is delish! It is a crispy fried chicken tossed in either Spicy or Soy garlic sauces. Both flavors are so good. I came here on a Friday night to grab a low-key dinner with drinks (or, maybe not). So, one thing I've noticed about Bonchon is that there is rarely ever a lot going on in comparison to how hectic restaurants usually are around the kitchen area. A server at another location told me it's because nothing is cooked until patrons put in an order. So, I get it. But, this place was so quiet and bland. There were about 3 other small groups in the restaurant and it just seemed so odd that it was so dead. AND, there was no bar. We were totally banking on having a few drinks like we do when visiting the Hyattsville location. We stayed to eat anyway and ordered 20 wing special (5 spicy, 15 soy garlic) and fries, but the server came out with the wrong order. He quickly corrected and brought out the correct order, but we had already went through our fries, so we just had chicken. Other than this mix up, the food and service was great. If you are looking to eat a moist pork belly bun with authentic Korean sauces, don't eat here. My pork belly was dry and looked like it had been basted with soy sauce. And very oddly, it came topped with a ton of American coleslaw! I ordered kimchi to stuff in the buns, but that made the buns overly full and they split, leaving me with a sloppy mess on my plate. But everyone should try it at least once, if you can bear the heat, the flavor is amazing! The takoyaki octopus balls are flavorful! After having eaten there, I can understand the craze and the use of the word 'addiction' in conjunction with Bonchon. The chicken is, in fact, memorable. The spicy lives up to its name, but not too much so that it becomes inedible. The soy/garlic is where it's at, though, simply amazing. I love the pickled daikon that comes with it, but I do find it a tad sweet for my taste. The other options are worth noting as well. The pork buns are pretty big, very stuffed, and highly flavorful. The tacos are even more packed, if you can believe it, and the filling (bulgogi in our case) is exceptional. My only gripes: not much of a kids menu (non-existent really), and the salmon ball was almost too much of a good thing. I know, that sounds like a pitiful complaint, but it's basically the creamy mixed krab/cucumber/mayo blend in the middle. But, imagine eating an entire ball of that. Sure, it's tasty, but the salmon is lost in the mix, and the flavor gets overpowering very quickly. Still good, but it's a lot. Best shared with a bunch of people. The staff has been super friendly so far, and they have been very quick on the table visits and refills. You can't ask for more than that. Totally addictive and well worth visiting. If you have been to Korea, you know the real struggle of craving Korean fried chicken and beer. This place didn't offer beer, to us at least, but the chicken was amazing. Literally everything I was hoping for and more. We got the medium order (10) of drumstick, half & half. So my husband sweat through his 5 spicy legs and I tapped out at 3/5 soy garlic. This is primarily because we destroyed the Salmon avocado ball. The dish was *clean* when our chicken arrived. It was beautiful. An orb of avocado, cucumber and krab, tucked in under some freshly seared salmon and sauced the heck up. We agreed we could eat one a piece in the future. Sweet staff, bangin chicken. They're stuffed with pork and veggies. The chicken soy garlic chicken is so yummy. The chicken is perfect and crispy and the chicken is always moist. First thing first, Bonchon is a franchise restaurant. I have been to several location and the food is consistently good. If you have never been to one, try the fried chicken. Bonchon is known for Korean Style Fried Chicken; and you can't go wrong on the food that basically represents this place. When ordering, always order "half-half". This means you will get half-spicy and half-soy garlic chicken. The pieces are huge especially the drums. They come pipping hot and so deliciously crispy. Just writing this review makes me salivate again . The chicken comes with a side of daikon radish. It is refreshing especially when eating the spicy ones. We always eat with our eyes and get more than we could handle. One thing for sure, this chicken re-heats very well. So don't worry on over ordering. You will have a fantastic leftover the next day that will be any envy in your lunch room. Besides the chicken, I think the bulgogi is also delicious and worth ordering. My kids can eat the entire plate in thirty seconds. The rice that comes with it is perfectly cook. Lastly, I want to give a commendation to our server, PENG. He was attentive and helpful. He was patient with our table and we had a little toddler that keeps dropping things. He refilled our drinks often without us prompting him. We didn't feel hurried to eat like in other locations. I am never returning to the Bon Chon that's located in Crofton, Maryland ever again. I love Bon Chon's garlic soy wings, but this location does not deliver on presentation nor taste. The first time I ordered there, I had a poor experience, but the owner and I spoke and she apologized for the poor service and offered me a discount for my next order. However, I had another poor experience with my order yesterday. First off, I ordered garlic soy wings to-go. When I got the food, the wings barely had any sauce on them and I ordered a 32 count. I asked whoever made the wings to add more garlic soy sauce on my wings, but it was only put on the top rather than all over the wings. Then, the chicken wings were abnormally big and it had a fatty texture underneath the breading. Lastly, the coleslaw that is served with the wings was extremely bland. Wings were really juicy and flavorful without all the grease. Spicy had just the right amount of kick without being uneatable. Overall a decent luck spot to try something different from the norm. Food is constantly hot and fresh. This is a frequent go to for my family. The spicy is actually in a good way but if you're not into heat, stick with the ginger/main house flavor, which is also delicious. We tend to get the wings over the legs because the legs are MASSIVE and frighten me (steroids...). My favorite are the bulgogi tacos they are absolutely phenomenal. I don't care for coleslaw but actually enjoy it on the tacos. The french fries a wonderfully crispy and delicious. Second time at a Bonchon in America and second time disappointed. We got the combo of 10 wings and 5 drumsticks and it was 23.95 with just a tiny radish side. Wings tasted like they had been microwaved and they lack that "just fried" flavor and temperature. We got chicken katsu which was acceptable but not great. So total bill with tip was $50 which is outrageous; you can get Korean BBQ for 2 for that price elsewhere. Service was SLOW -- the family next to us was there when we got there, had already ordered, and was still waiting for any part of their order when we were almost done and it took us nearly an hour. Server took that family's unused plates and silverware off the table and put them back into the stack to be re-used again -- without washing them! I'm done. We tried this place in Crofton over the weekend since they are ready to open another in the Pasadena/Millersville area. At first we thought the prices were a bit high for an upscale quasi -fast food Asian restaurant. So we ordered one appetizer, the two taco dishes and the soup. Wow, it was a lot of food even with a $ 40 plus bill First of all , the tacos were fantastic. The Spicy Chicken and Beef versions were fresh,tasty and very well prepared. The best I've had in a while. The soup was very good and it was a large serving. Easily serves 2 to 3 people. Next time we will add the seafood to the soup and try it. We took two tacos home for another meal. This is a relatively new restaurant and I really liked the ambiance and decor. It was a little cold inside and the sound seemed bounced around. Somewhat noisy. They had 3 TVs but they are waiting for there liquor license. What was sort of unique was the ASIAN version of MTV playing on one of the TV screenS. We had lunch here on 7/22/17. It was weird walking into a restaurant that had absolutely nothing on the tables. Maybe it was because we arrived when they opened, but I would think they'd at least have sugar/sweeteners on the tables. It just looked strange. The young man behind the counter greeted us and told us to sit anywhere we liked. Our server arrived within a few minutes and went over the menu with us. We ordered drinks and he said he would return to take our orders. When he brought the drinks, I asked for sweetener, but he sort of forgot. I had to ask one more time, but he brought it promptly and apologized. No harm done. We ordered the combo soy garlic fried chicken - a mix of drumsticks and wings. Also got the fried rice with chicken and Japchae, a mix of noodles, veggies and thin sliced ribeye. We knew it was going to be a lot of food, but then we would have leftovers for dinner. The chicken was flavored really well, but it was a little on the overcooked side - a little dry, but still tasty. My wife said the fried rice was just OK, nothing special. I tried it and liked it, but again, a little on the dry side. I really liked the Japchae and there was plenty of it. I was happy to be able to take some home. All in all, we'll give Bonchon another go and try some of the other menu items. The staff was very friendly and other than our server forgetting the sweetener, he was very attentive.
