I love escape rooms! I make sure to plan an escape room visit every time I travel. This one was overall ok. The complexity level was a level 8 out 10 (I think) for the room we did. We ran out of time before completing but we were so close... only one more lock left. I love how challenging escape rooms are. It's the perfect date night outing in my opinion. Good and not so good... On the plus side, the staff was VERY pleasant and helpful. We were greeted with smiles, and all of our questions were answered. After a brief introduction and sharing of their rules, we were ushered into our room, The Cure, for the one-hour puzzle-solving session. That's where the not-so-good part starts. While this was my first visit to Bonds, I've done several, maybe six or seven (I think that's safe to say again) escape rooms before this one. Based on that experience, this was the most basic in terms of room setup and contents. Everything was well used and occasionally overused. Think beat up or threadbare. Combination locks are common in escape rooms, and this one had plenty. If memory serves, there were six or seven of them. It was irritating that some of the locks had their numbers rubbed off, making it difficult to enter the combination, even after we figured out what it should be. Another issue is their use of red herrings. We wasted too much of our hour trying to figure out how they contributed to the ultimate solution. A final issue is that some steps might be solved correctly without a clear indication that anything had changed. For example, you enter a code on a keypad on one side of the room, and a drawer opens somewhere else. If I do decide to try another Bond's escape room, I'll ask to see it first. It's one thing to configure a room to represent part of a hospital or medical laboratory, and another thing entirely to allow it to be so overused that what's left affects my enjoyment of the experience. And as a suggestion to Bond's, replacing a few of the combination locks, probably costing $10 each, would have made things a lot better. read more

This experience was even more fun than expected. My party booked the 2233: Evil AI room with our very helpful game master, Ruth. Puzzles are very well thought out and we loved the idea of having to travel from room to room to solve them. All groups are given max 3 hints with extra hints granted from the game master if you do something to entertain them. We enjoyed our first room so much that we decided to reserve another room on the same day for Frightful Feast with game master Joseph. Out of the two rooms we did, my group preferred the Frightful Feast one. It is a little spooky with the props and some jump scares of when puzzles would open. We were able to escape both rooms that we did and all agree that this was money well spent for an activity. read more

As a pretty big escape room enthusiast (this was my 40th room!), I thought The Frightful Feast was a pretty high quality room. The room had a good variety of puzzles including some I hadn't seen before. In general, the puzzles were really well thought out and executed. The mechanics of the game were smooth, with barely any tech issues (there was only one instance where a door didn't open, but our hostess was on top of it!). We were able to book online on a weekday, the same day, an hour before the room. Our hostess, Dreamer, was hilarious and made the whole experience even more fun. The facility was clean, the bathrooms were clean, and parking was easy. I would highly recommend this room to both seasoned players and newcomers alike. I'd definitely come back to try another one here! read more

We did 4 rooms today with Ben, Brandon, Em, and Autumn as our awesome game masters. All of the rooms are designed very well and the difficulty ratings are spot on. The escape rooms I had been to in the past were not designed well that we got stuck in some places and had to use multiple clues. There was no other way to advance. Here at Bonds Escape Room, we only used a couple clues in the hardest rooms. The easier rooms didn't really require clues. We paced through all four of them without struggling too much. I went to this location a few nights ago with my two best friends that I had not seen in a while. I am so glad that we randomly chose this place. Bonds in Fairfax has a fun vibe because of the staff. They made the experience full of so much wonder and joy. We had so much fun and ended up doing two of them. We did EFTWH and the Joker one. The rooms are very cool and the art is viscerally authentic. The props were uniquely done. I really appreciate the vibe of this establishment. Huge shoutout to Dreamer, who is an awesome staff member and luckily played our Joker, her performance was oscar worthy. I've tried a couple rooms here including the jokers trap and mollys horror room. I wish the rooms here were larger or had more places to unlock but the puzzles are fun, challenging and make sense with the story. I loved mollys horror as it was actually spooky! If you have 3 people I'd say that's enough to beat the rooms, 2 might be a challenge. Service was good and they walk you through how to use the locks, escape room etiquette and give good hints when needed. read more

We love a good escape room! Bond's is a really fun place, and if you wonder if it's a haunted house upon first seeing the outside then you've find the right spot. Seriously, especially at night this place is all lit up and spooky. But inside there's also a lot going on. They have a lot of rooms to pick from and are by far the most affordable without paying super high prices in the city (DC). We did a presidential themed room and it was so fun! It also felt considerably appropriate with being so close to the nations capital. I will say it seemed the room was a little beaten up and there was a lot of unneeded space. We were in the biggest room apparently but I don't feel like they took advantage of the space. But either way we really enjoyed it! All of the clues made sense and our game master Alex S. was a hoot! BLUF: well run, and a good time Five of us went on a Saturday evening. They fill up fast on weekends, especially when the weather is bad, so consider booking ahead by a few days. The downside of course is that they don't refund if your plans change, and since it ain't cheap that's a real consideration. We went to the Fairfax location. If you go to this one, understand it's in the basement of a building and can be hard to find. Be sure to read the email they send you when you book for helpful directions The rooms are graded in terms of difficulty, and their grading seems pretty spot on when compared to other escape rooms we've visited. If it's your first time, pick a level 2 or maybe a 3 if you have a big group. Fill out your waiver before you go, or just get there a few minutes early and do it on one of the tablets they have out for that. We were seen right on time and taken to our room. We did the History of the Future room. We had a lot of fun, and the difficulty was spot on. We have one complaint, which is something that wouldn't have come up had we been told them in our intro briefing. They tell you not to be too "physical" with the rooms, i.e. no prying of pictures from the wall, etc. But we spent a LOT of time on a lock when we had the combination correct but it wouldn't open, until finally they told us to pull very hard on it and it opened. So, if you have a combo lock, or especially one of those directional locks, yank that puppy like you mean business. There was also an item that was actually behind a picture, and had we not been told not to reach behind pictures, we would have found it much earlier. Not until we asked our guide for hints were we told these things. The guide was pleasant and helpful, but I wish we'd been told more in the intro. That said, the puzzles are challenging and fun, and we made it out with 1:28 left on the clock. I'd go back now that I've learned my lesson, especially about the locks read more

Absolutely awesome We have been to a ton of escape rooms and this one ranks up there with the best of them. We beat the Jokers Trap room with 36 seconds to spare. There were four of us and none of us are rocket scientists but we do ok at our day jobs lol. We had a lot of fun but definitely struggled in some parts. There were a few things that didn't flow real well but we used the tip line that you can use a few times which would get us moving again. The employees were very friendly and attentive. I wish they had better lighting in the photo room.. We like to keep pics of all of our "wins" and the lighting in this room is terrible. It would be a cheap and easy fix to spruce the room up just a bit. Easy parking. Prices were around 35 a person. So a little high but still a decent value for good entertainment. Next time I am back in the area we will definitely try another room. read more

I love this place, I have been here with friends as well as my son who is 9 years old. My 9-year-old and I have a goal of getting to all the rooms. We've done quite a few so we've got to know some of the workers there with Lee being one of our favorites to see when we arrive. Some escape rooms can be super challenging, the closest we have gotten to losing was when we left with only 2 minutes left to spare. I really enjoy that Lee was there to guide us when we completely missed a shelf / Open door. Basically we had solved a puzzle but we didn't know where it led to. Overall such a fun challenge and very addicting. Luckily they give you a discount to try additional games once you start so we have been consistently coming back. My friends and I booked the "Frightful Fest" which was AWESOME. We had an amazing time (and yes ... we escaped!). The host was super helpful and we did end up needing tips. You are in the room with your party, but are connected to the host through a walkie-talkie, which makes it super helpful, the host is not physically in the room with you, but can guide you and are there for you! For this one in particular it was the highest level of difficultly 5/5 - and it proved to be true. There were tons of puzzles that had us thinking and was definitely not something that came intuitively. There were several that were head scratchers, and they were all so entertaining. Definitely takes a lot of working together. We had a party of 6 and looking back that is definitely a recommended size. At least given my party, more than 6 would have had us scrambling around/unsure of decisions, any fewer we would /not/ have been able to solve the amount of puzzles we did in that time! Again, highly recommend and will definitely come back to try some more escape rooms!!! read more

This was a terrific experience! From the actual escape room to our host/guide (Eli) all the way to the general pageantry of it all, this place was perfect for a family night out. This place has a large variety of rooms to choose from that range not only in difficulty but in theme as well. Our party chose the newest addition with the highest difficulty, The Frightful Feast. This one was extremely difficult without being too frustrating. Having said that, though, you must ensure that you have a party that gets along with one another if you decide to take on this room. If not, you will not do well navigating these puzzles and probably fail (sorry but it's true). Our party of eight worked well together but still only completed the room with 18 seconds to go. To be honest, we did not hold out hope for completion, not because of our party, because of the intricacies of the puzzles. Nevertheless, we did and we will definitely be back for more. This was a great night out. Side note: The website contains the prices as well as the different rooms that are available for certain nights. Be sure to go early and enjoy one of the many restaurants that are around the establishment. read more

my first time doing an escape room. it was for my hub's byay so we were a large group. the largest room to accommodate the most people right now is the white house. i reserved the room a month ago. you can reserve any room by paying for 3 ppl so i did that online and on the day of the event, i paid the difference of the total party, in person. check in was very easy. there is a waiver that needs to be signed. they have ipads you can use. the game was challenging, not impossible but def had to think about some things. we're already planning to go back. i want to do a mur--der or a ghost one! read more

We had an amazing time solving The Cure! The back story was great, the setup/design was cool, and there was a lot of variety with the puzzles. In particular, the audio enhancements were an excellent addition and worked very smoothly. I've been coming here for years and have done just about every single room here. Probably the best escape rooms in all of the DMV. The staff is super helpful and the puzzles are some of the most creative I've seen so far. They're all great rooms, but my favorites have been the Joker's Trap and Molly's Horror Room since they have darker, somewhat creepier themes. Our most recent game master was Alex S and he was super on top of clues and just explaining thing in general. Even gave us a bigger discount than usual for another booking after but I forgot to contact him. I can't wait to finish the rest of the rooms (and upcoming horror room) I haven't completed yet because I know they have some crazy stuff in the newer ones. read more
