A nice small place just on the outskirts of Whitehall. The inside is well designed to give and open space which feels bigger than it is. They fit in a impressive amount of seating in small area. The kitchen is open to view and gets the food out at Food Truck speeds. I call the food style as a Bbq and Mexican fusion, not sure what they call it. You order at the counter and they bring it out to you as each dish is ready. The Menu is very yummy, making it hard to choose. I couldn't decide between the Monte Cristo ($9.50) and the Ricki Bobby Burrito ($12). So I chose both, mixed half and half, and had a 2nd meal for the next day. They were both excellent with high quality ingredients. The portion sizes were very good and cooked to perfection. I preferred the burrito, but that's no knock on the Monte. They also include a side with each meal. I got Texas Mac n Cheese and Double Fried Spuds. Both of the sides were very good, however the spuds were very salty. The person I was with got the Smoked Bbq Spare Ribs with Slaw ($15). She stated both were excellent. On a side note the next day meal reheated perfectly. The service was speedy and friendly, even when they got slammed. Overall an easy 5 star review. If your ever near Whitehall this should be a must stop. Will I return? Absolutely! In fact please open a 2nd location in Grand Rapids!

Sad to say I never made it to Basalt when it was around and only made it to Asada on the last ever…read moreday in their space on Wealthy. Honestly it was an incredible location for a space and had such a great vibe inside. My best friend is a regular at the restaurant and we're hoping to see them more in smaller capacities like when we saw them at the Fulton St. Market. Overall, the food was really good. I like the concept of fast-casual dining without the need to have a server. I think it allows things to feel more casual and allowed for me to be more willing to eat there (obviously in other circumstances lol). I got the horchata hot cakes with some of the papas with ghost sauce. I thought the pancakes were GREAT and more than worth it for the price. I was surprised how large and fluffy they were. The flavor was great without being too sweet and none of the flavors being too overpowering. My friends got the breakfast sandwiches and chaichata drinks and absolutely loved them. My friend loved her drink so much she got two within the span of us eating. I know it's a hard time for local businesses but I'm hoping there are more ways we can still see them around.

Different from the last time I was here but we were told to find a seat upon entering and that when we were ready, we could order our food at the counter. I looked over their menu and found lots of good breakfast taco options, the breakfast burrito I have heard is great, but what really caught my attention was the biscuits and gravy. I was feeling quite ravenous this morning and got the full order for $11 and a side of bacon. They had a table close to the entrance with extra menus, clean cups, water jugs, hot sauces, silverware and napkins. Seemed like a help-yourself vibe which I grabbed everything we would need for our meal. Our food was brought to us rather quickly and my bf ordered the breakfast bowl with scrambled eggs and sausage. He told me it tasted so good and he loved that he could make his own tacos with his food. He let me try one of the hashbrown rounds and it was perfectly crispy! My biscuits and gravy were phenomenal. The biscuits were so fresh and the gravy had a really nice and comforting flavor to it. You could get chorizo and mushrooms in your gravy but i went with a traditional sausage for my protein. My bacon on the side came in a tiny dish but I ate all four pieces haha. Once we finished, there were some bus bins under the same table with the silverware, we placed all our dirty dishes there and cleaned up after ourselves before leaving. I honestly felt so content leaving there and can't wait to return. I really appreciate the ambiance in there with the beautiful plant life, the lights on the ceiling, and cool decor in general. The staff was also SO NICE! Wins everywhere. I also noticed people coming in for takeout which is good to know in case I don't feel like dining in some morning. Please check this place out sometime if you're in the mood for some really good breakfast that doesn't break your bank account.

4.5/5 Stars Pure Mex…read moreTacos & Tequila in Grandville was a great experience from start to finish. We kicked things off with the shrimp ceviche--and it honestly felt like there was a pound of shrimp in it... okay, maybe not quite that much! It was loaded with fresh shrimp, had incredible flavor, and was beautifully presented. A fantastic way to start the meal. For the entrée, the carne asada was cooked to perfection. The steak was tender, juicy, and full of flavor, topped with plenty of perfectly grilled onions. It came with authentic rice, beans, fresh avocado, guacamole, and warm flour tortillas, making every bite even better. We also tried the carne asada tacos, and they were outstanding. Topped with fresh pico de gallo, cilantro, and a light drizzle of crema, they were simple, authentic, and packed with flavor. The complimentary chips and salsa were fresh, crisp, and exactly what you hope for at a quality Mexican restaurant. The service was friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout our visit. They also have a huge bar, and my Tito's & Sprite was served ice cold--the perfect pairing with the meal. To finish, we shared the churros served with warm chocolate dipping sauce and whipped cream. They were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and the perfect sweet ending to a great meal. Pure Mex offers authentic Mexican flavors, generous portions, a fun atmosphere, and excellent hospitality. It's an easy 4.5-star experience, and I would definitely return to explore more of the menu. (5 stars? That's adorable. I'd give 47.)…read more I came to Pure Mex expecting tacos. Instead, I had a spiritual awakening. Our server, Ruth, did not simply "wait tables." Ruth orchestrated an experience. I am now convinced she exists outside the normal laws of physics. I'm fairly certain she can hear when a tortilla is overcooked from three zip codes away. Before I even realized I wanted another drink, Ruth had already appeared beside the table like some kind of benevolent taco guardian. I blinked once and the salsa was refilled. I blinked twice and somehow my life had direction again. The food? Incredible. But honestly, I would've eaten drywall if Ruth recommended it. That's the level of trust she inspired. Scientists should study her efficiency. NASA should recruit her. The Olympics need a "Hospitality Decathlon" because she'd retire undefeated. If she ever decides to run for president, I don't care what her platform is. She has my vote. At one point I said, "This is probably the best taco I've ever had," and Ruth smiled with the calm confidence of someone who already knew that would happen six months ago. I genuinely suspect Ruth is running at least four restaurants simultaneously using advanced cloning technology. There is no other explanation. By the end of the meal I wanted to stand up and applaud. Not because dinner was over--but because I had just witnessed greatness. The tacos were phenomenal. The margaritas were fantastic. But Ruth... Ruth is the reason legends are written. Future civilizations will uncover this Yelp review and assume she was a mythical figure, like Hercules, except armed with chips and salsa instead of a club. If you visit Pure Mex and Ruth is your server, cancel the rest of your plans. You're about to experience customer service so elite it should probably require a waiver. 10/10. Would gladly drive across state lines, through a snowstorm, and possibly a minor volcanic eruption just to have Ruth ask me, "Would you like anything else?"

Spacious, clean, and so many delicious options it's hard to choose. I ended up with a burger with mayo and green olives, basic but really tasty. Saltiness from toppings enhanced the beefy patty. Homemade chips were good too. My friend's changed her order after seeing the country fried steak delivered to another table, so glad she did. It's big and tasty! Breaded seasoned very well and country gravy peppered nicely. Our server Carmella was just wonderful and shared with us her grandmother was the manager of the original 76 Diner (I forget where) and her manager worked for her grandmother! How cool is that? Lots of TVs showing a mixture of everything, lots of tables and booths plus a classic diner U shaped counter. You can tell the staff enjoy their job as all were smiling, I spied one dancing to some song playing. Yet everyone was hustling. It's connected to a convenience store for snacks, coffee, grab and go hot food, liquor, slushy drinks. You name it, they have it and more. Even slushy apple cider! I wanted to try it out but was already feeling cold so I got coffee instead. Definitely stop in to relax and eat! This is now on our favorite stops when traveling!
